What's the point if you're effectively watching a drama.

McNamara That Ghost...
27-10-2012, 10:10 AM
Treat it like a drama. He talks about misdirection and maybe using stooges when he doesn't admit they are would be too much deception but I don't think he is ever shy in announcing he might just be fooling you. Or he might not.

Either way, it's better (domestic) television that most things, whether it's a spectacle or for psychoanalysis, well, supposed psychoanalysis.

Letters
27-10-2012, 11:45 AM
If I treated it like a drama then I probably wouldn't watch, the point of him is that he's really doing this stuff. OK, he's fooling us in some way, we know that, but I'd like to think he's doing so using skill rather than actors. If it's the latter then it loses its meaning, for me at least. I've not seen last night's effort but I've Sky+'d it. The trailer looked awlsome.

Having everyone on the panel and (more importantly) the canned audience that wouldn't know how to ask a useful question if a gun was pointed at their heads (stick with me on this) machine gunned to death and then drenched in piss, shit and vomit would make for a far more entertaining and politically useful experience. it doesnt tell you anything new, however it takes a compeltely different view point to any i have seen before. To me, it says forget about what hitler did for the moment, lets look at him as leader, as a person and its fasicnating. its a different view point and you can see how he won over hte people, how he got messages across via goebells, also how he was as a military leader. its a very good series.

also Syn, the guy who wrote this series, lawrence rees, wrote a book called Auschwitz, its a very good read on it and the final solution as a whole policy. if you enjoy this series you will enjoy taht book
