Its bound to clash with Euro 2012

Cricket :pal:

Cripps_orig
17-05-2012, 12:44 PM
In fact cos im bored, i just checked

The 3rd Test is on 7-11 June

Euro 2012 starts on 8th. Englands first match is on 11th. Cricket and Football fans will be hoping England or West Indies will have won by the 11th

Also England v Ukraine clashes with the 2nd ODI

Cricket v Football, England shite at both but who will prevail in the viewing figures?

Its almost as exciting as The Voice v BGT, Eastenders v Corrie, Babestation v Babestation+1

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 12:53 PM
:haha:

Great review Strauss, it was a no ball.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 12:56 PM
Doesn't matter though, 86-3, Anderson catches on the second attempt, Broad with the wicket. Barath goes for 42, great shot.

Syn
17-05-2012, 12:56 PM
Here comes the great man.

Syn
17-05-2012, 12:57 PM
10* from 97 balls I reckon.

My prediction for 110 all out is still on.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:06 PM
He's six for 6.

LDG
17-05-2012, 01:07 PM
I take it there's plenty of swing out there? Overcast, bit humid.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:14 PM
To start with there was but it hasn't really been doing too much since resuming.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:20 PM
100-3.

Windies.

Syn
17-05-2012, 01:20 PM
11 off 13 now. Jesus.

We're witnessing something special here.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:26 PM
Swann puts Bravo down, great ball from Anderson.

Firm but a dolly.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:30 PM
:haha: OMG!

Bravo is run out.

He Donald'd/Klusener'd it.

Syn
17-05-2012, 01:30 PM

What a way to go.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:34 PM
Prior's throw was awful for that run out, could've easily gone for four overthrows. Swann did well to gather it.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:40 PM
WICKET Bravo run out 29 (WI 100-4)

A mockery. A comedy of errors. A Caribbean catastrophe. Call it what you like, the Windies are four down. Chanderpaul clips to square leg where Bell slides to his right and fields. Bravo wants a run, but Chanderpaul doesn't fancy it and they both wind up at the striker's end. Prior almost makes a mess of it by throwing it wildly to Swann's left at the non-striker's end, but the bowler does well to gather the ball and knock the bails off. The Windies pair stare at each other for what seems like a decade before Bravo begins the long, lonely walk.

Barath had the right idea with staying in his crease at all times.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:41 PM
105-5, Anderson gets Chanderpaul!

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:41 PM
Oh cock, Chanderpaul reviews it. And it will be reversed.

105-4. We can never get the git out.

LDG
17-05-2012, 01:42 PM
110.

It's on!!!

LDG
17-05-2012, 01:42 PM
Oh cock.

Cripps_orig
17-05-2012, 01:42 PM
Chanderpaul did the right thing.

Sacrificed his partner so he can stay in

Which Bravo is playing?

Dwayne, Darren or my favourite Dino?

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:43 PM
Darren Bravo.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 01:45 PM
110-4. This will be the best collapse of all time if Syn is correct.

38 off 72 for Chanderpaul now, makes more sense.

Syn
17-05-2012, 02:32 PM
It's Samuels at the other end who is taking the piss. Get out and let Sammy in - Sammy is a nutcase.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 02:34 PM
Only just noticed Samuel's score now you mention it.

Six off 44. :haha:

Dennis Bendtner
17-05-2012, 02:35 PM
Don't want to Cripps this thread up but this is sending me to sleep. Even Trott is bowling. Fuck off Samuels. Tempted to watch some village instead.

I dont understand how anyone can defend Tests especially if they are watching this

McNamara That Ghost...

A maiden over in the IPL, bowling against Gayle? I really am the run repellant today.

Syn

Pretty good.........if youre a striker in football

Syn
17-05-2012, 03:35 PM
Chris Gayle is going mental right now.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 03:42 PM
Gayle hits another six. Is that eight now?

:haha:

Syn
17-05-2012, 03:42 PM
Gayle was 1 off 9 balls. Now he's 92* off 50 balls. :haha:

8 sixes, I think.

17-05-2012, 03:43 PM
Nine sixes!

:haha:

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 03:44 PM

243-9, brilliant catch from Prior. Broad gets his sixth wicket.

McNamara That Ghost...
17-05-2012, 05:20 PM
And that is how it is at the close of play.

Cripps_orig
17-05-2012, 10:40 PM
Broad is the 7th man on the Lords honours board for both batting and bowling.

More importantly, Gayle

His team won by 20 odd runs

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 10:01 AM
Play started.

One ball, Gabriel out for a golden duck. Windies all out for 243. :haha:

Broad on a hat-trick for the second innings.

Syn
18-05-2012, 10:04 AM
Must be the worst 7 wicket haul in history. He didn't even have to bowl well.

Chanderpaul 87* :haha:

You could've put your house on him staying not out.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 10:08 AM
He should just open the batting really. He'd probably carry his bat throughout the whole tour.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 10:26 AM
Lucky from Cook, edged one, goes short. Still goes for four thanks to some herp derps in the field though.

Cripps_orig
18-05-2012, 11:11 AM
47-1

Cook gone

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 11:21 AM

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 12:03 PM
80-1 at lunch.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 12:21 PM
A piece on Alec Stewart is on now.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 01:02 PM
Bless. The Windies were high-fiving after the review on Trott, not realising what Umpire's Call means.

I think there was enough on HawkEye to suggest it should have been given out though.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 01:27 PM
Strauss gets his fifty.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 02:39 PM
And Trott gets a fifty too.

:scarf:

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 02:40 PM
167-1 at tea.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 03:25 PM
The ball has been beating Strauss quite a few times in the last five overs.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 03:48 PM
Strauss gets dropped. It was a no-ball anyway though.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 03:54 PM
194-2, Trott goes for 58. Great delivery from Sammy.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 04:06 PM
Strauss gets first century for 18 months!

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 04:59 PM
244-3, Samuel gets KP!

McNamara That Ghost...
18-05-2012, 05:18 PM
259-3 at the close of play.

Bad light.

Cripps_orig
19-05-2012, 01:14 AM
So is Strauss back?

Or is a century against a piss poor WI team papering over the cracks?

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 10:15 AM
I think he has to get more than one score, certainly. At least he got runs though.

He has a problem with restarting an innings though and Strauss is out on appeal!

266-4.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 10:16 AM
Sky put it as 266-5.

Two wickets when you get the captain out.

Syn
19-05-2012, 10:17 AM
Clive Lloyd seems to have had enough of WI's failures

He's in ITV's IPL studio today as a guest...wearing his shades

Only he could get away with that without looking like a twat.

But he is also wearing what can only be described as a ridiculous shirt - and he hasn't gotten away with that.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 10:20 AM
WICKET Strauss c Ramdin b Roach 122 (Eng 266-5)

HotSpot does its job. There's a clear mark on the inside edge before the ball struck his thigh and went through to the keeper. Umpire Erasmus raises the finger and the skipper has to go.

BBC think Strauss equals two wickets also.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 10:49 AM
292-5, Bairstow goes for 16. Bumble thought he got something on it, it was obviously plumb off the pads.

Cripps_orig
19-05-2012, 10:50 AM
Apparently Strauss has been on a century overnight 6 times and has never added more than 6 runs the next morning

Make that 7 times now

Cripps_orig
19-05-2012, 10:51 AM
Never heard of this Bairstow pub teamer.

Genuine English or SA English?

I assume hes ahead of Morgan and Bopara

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 10:59 AM
Genuine English hit and hoper. He'll whack a few in the ODIs.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 11:24 AM
320-6, Gabriel bowls Prior.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 11:32 AM
323-7, Sammy gets Bresnan for a duck.

:haha:

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 12:02 PM
341-7 at lunch.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 12:46 PM
342-8, Broad goes.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 01:07 PM

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 01:08 PM
Bell gets his fifty.

Syn
19-05-2012, 01:11 PM
He usually does. he probably counts as a legit order. A lot better than previous pie chuckers like 'smash me miles' Ashley Giles. Almost as good as crofty.

I'm such a lad tbh. Playing some village myself tomorrow. 40 over game. Expecting some runs. Expecting some wickets. But most of all, I'm expecting some jolly good fun.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 01:18 PM
397-9, Gabriel bowls Swann.

Enterprising 30 from Swann though.

Sammy is scheduled to play tomorrow so we'll compare notes of who was the most village out of he and you.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 01:24 PM
Good catch by Powell.

England 398 all out, Bell goes for 61.

Syn
19-05-2012, 01:25 PM
Sammy is comedy. Never seen someone look so out of place on a cricket field.

Even at pub level he'd look weird. 6'6 and running up to bowl at 75mph? Fuck off. He's a disgrace.

Btw it's meant to rain tomorrow so getting chanders out is key. But I reckon he'll do a dravid this summer where he'll average about 90 against England but his team will still get crushed.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 01:29 PM
Best for England to go mental now then. Come on, Swann with the new ball.

Sammy should have better luck with the ball over here but I can't see it with the Collingwood-esque trundles. Didn't stop Trott and Bresnan getting out to him though.

Syn
19-05-2012, 01:31 PM
Trying to find odds of WI losing by an innings so I can put my life savings on it.

Guarantee England will win by an innings. Isaac's never twice wrong. Don't know who the GW Isaac is these days though so I'm reclaiming it by default.

Syn
19-05-2012, 01:32 PM
Sammy is exactly like Diaby (non-racist).

Diaby always seems apologetic about his physique when he should be more intimidating. Sammy's the same. But we'll see.

Dennis Bendtner
19-05-2012, 01:46 PM
Sammy.

He is a running joke. But I don't think he'll do that badly with the ball. Praveen 70mph Kumar did well in England, and he if anything swings it too much. Line and lenff innit. Plus we can't forget the maverick batting. Fidel Edwards looks lame though.

Syn

Atherton made a good point ( ) that Edwards and Roach would be a lot better if they were taller. You can always come forward to these two because it's never going over your shoulder. And when they do bang it in, they have to bang it in so short that you can spot it from a mile away. The only way a fast bowler can be short is if he gets good swing like Gough. Going way back, Larwood was supposed to be the best fast bowler around and he was a midget but then again he bowled at the era of the village so cricket didn't exist then.

The Kumars at 42mph is garbage. Makes me sick.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 01:57 PM

19-05-2012, 02:04 PM
The Kumars at 42mph.

Very good.

I would have Ravi Rampaul ahead of Edwards and Roach. He must be injured, I guess.

Gayle
Barath
Chanderpaul
Edwards
Darren Bravo
Dwayne Bravo
pub-team keeper of choice
Rampaul
Narine/Bishoo
big fast bowler of choice
big fast bowler of choice

That'd make this series relatively interesting. Sorry Sammy :(

Syn
19-05-2012, 02:05 PM
You forgot Sarwan.

It's ridiculous. They've got a much better team not playing.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 02:13 PM
Having said that, when that much better team has played, they've been routinely annihilated. The side they have playing now has more XP than the one that played against the Aussies recently and they were good matches, generally.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 02:18 PM
Windies are only on 22-0, bloody hell.

Syn
19-05-2012, 02:19 PM
They would've lost regardless. But it would've been a bit closer (even though Gayle's not a test player, he'd get the odd quick-fire 50 - natural ability is worth a bit). It would've been good to see Narine, in particular. This 'mystery spinner' is fantastic - the Aussies just couldn't pick him.

At the very least, Windies would be more fun to watch with Gayle and Bishoo/Narine, Pollard (?), Bravo in. They've been boring the shit out of everyone so far. A few Barath cover drives apart, there hasn't been any decent shotmaking.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 02:24 PM
Not being able to knock off the Aussie tail is where they mainly faltered along with the weather, probably.

It's not a huge surprise they aren't knocking the cherry around to all parts of the ground though, for many of them they've never played against swing for such a sustained period before. As long as they learn from it unlike England forever sweeping a spinning ball they should be alright.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 02:25 PM
Great throw from KP, Barath dives in Brian Lara Cricket style though. Not out.

Dennis Bendtner
19-05-2012, 02:29 PM
Only seen bits of Narine. Done well and is cool to watch. Obviously the mystery will get found out soon like Mendis. But at least he actually has a good stock ball and isn't doing something different every time.
Most of that team is in place. The young ones like Edwards and Bravo are really quite encouraging. Think just two or three changes would help.

McNamara That Ghost...
19-05-2012, 02:31 PM
36-1, Bresnan gets Barath.

Bresnan is on for another test win. The weirdo.

Syn
19-05-2012, 02:35 PM

Chanders is on about par; 1 run off 13 balls.

Windies, go home. Used to be everyone's second favourite team until this rubbish.

Chanderpaul 3 off 30 balls

Fine average of course but does his slow ass run scoring puts the pressure on the others to score quickly hence they are out cheaply?

Not sure about Chanders.Fine average of course but does his slow ass run scoring puts the pressure on the others to score quickly hence they are out cheaply? Given that his team are usually batting in circumstances like this where they are looking to save the match/bat on for ages, no. But I will say that he is the worst of the 'great' batsmen. He is the worst shotmaker and least talented. He just had amazing character and judgement.

Well the thing is that Swann and Broad count as batsmen. Lower order. So you can't send them in. I used to see the point in it but now I'm not a fan of the nightwatchman.

Speaking of village - I didn't even manage a Sammy. We was bowled out for 80 odd. I scored 7 (I think) before nicking one from this 'Davies' kid - supposed to be county level. He was rapid - he must've clocked in at 80 at least. And I was fully bricking it. They knocked the runs off easy.

I wouldn't send any of them in, doesn't make any sense. If your main batsmen are going to struggle in the dimming light then in theory the tailenders will have an even harder time.

Holding says Greg Chappell was for him.
Beefy says Viv Richards.

Holding's is the only opinion that holds value there.

Botham and Warne are talking garbage. Viv Richards and Tendulkar might be taking games away when they're set because they were naturally attacking players. Even someone like Boycott or, now, Chanderpaul and Dravid were probably harder to get out because if it's not hitting the stumps, they won't play a shot.

Given that Steve Waugh's guys went about 15 Test wins in a row, it'll be at least 15. Bresnan is on 13 atm, right? Should be 15 by the time the series is over.

I wouldn't pick him against SA in case it'd ruin his record.

Warne saying Tendulkar is not surprising. He was maybe the most complete batsman in Warne's era, so had more shots to counter him and make him go defensive. Warne got his wicket very few times relative to the number of tests played. For a leg-spinner in particular, getting stone-walled is probably less disheartening than getting carted for runs. I think there's one tour they talk about where Tendulkar kept slog sweeping him into the crowd (Warne was having great success against every other team before this). I suspect the same is true of Botham e.g. you couldn't just knock Richards' head off.

I missed village Sammy all this time. Damn!
