England, awful. Simply awful.

I feel sorry for Broad. Out of his depth as captain. A shite player as well. No way should he be anywhere near the T20 scene. Keep him in the Test arena where average players can look good but in the pressure cricket of scoring runs and taking wickets quickly, he just isnt up to it.

ODIs next and i can see a whitewash in that as well. Cook is captain there but again you need to score runs quick in that format and he cant do that.

England have a lot to do.

Seems like proper cricket.

Only difference is you dont have 4392849387349587 overs as a bowler or 2398479827439823749384 balls as a batsman to get your eye in. You need to be on the ball asap or youre gone. Far more pressure on this format.

It must've been this West Indies tour that got the non-believers fed up. In the second Indian innings, 4 batsmen were given out when they weren't (all in a row; from Kohli no.4 to Dhoni no.7).

Anyway, good news if true. The technology might not be perfect but in instances where there is doubt, you'll stick with the umpiring decisions. DRS is only supposed to filter out the shockers made by umpires and I don't understand why anybody would be against that.

ALASTAIR COOK begins his career as England's one-day captain today with a blast back at former skipper Mike Atherton.

It shows Cook will be his own man and will not be distracted from his dream of becoming both Test and limited-overs skipper.
On the eve of the opening 50-over clash against Sri Lanka at The Oval, Cook rejected former opener Atherton's claim he should not lead the team.
Atherton, now a Sky Sports pundit, described Cook as a "blocker at the top of the order" and "a bit of a donkey in the field".
Quick as a flash, Cook responded: "I suppose it takes one to know one!"
He said: "Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I have scored a one-day hundred for England and I know I can score runs at the top of the order.
"As an international player, you are always under pressure and always having to prove yourself. I'm no different now.
"My one-day game has evolved. I scored runs quickly in Bangladesh last year so I know I have the talent and skill to do it.
"I don't think one-day cricket will affect my Test batting. You need the skill to be able to change your method and mindset when you move from Test cricket to one-day cricket and back again.
"I'm more experienced and have a better understanding of my game. I'm a more expansive batsman than I was, although I'm nowhere near the finished article."
Cook becomes the THIRD man to lead England in eight days after Test captain Andrew Strauss handed over to Stuart Broad for Saturday's nine-wicket Twenty20 drubbing in Bristol.
But Cook, 26, insists it will not be a problem.
He explained: "We're not sure how it will work but, with the personnel we have, we think it is the best way forward. Myself and Broady are two inexperienced leaders who can learn from Straussy.
"And, with Broady as vice-captain in the one-dayers, he has passed on a lot of information from Saturday."
England players yesterday met injured servicemen on a visit to the MoD's Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court in Surrey.

The row over the Umpire Decision Review System took another farcical twist when the ICC said the system will be mandatory — but without Hawkeye.
It means the ball-tracking technology will not be present for England's series against India, making the third umpire's job more difficult.

MS DHONI was mistakenly given out after a TV review by the third umpire.

The Indian skipper was caught by Shivnarine Chanderpaul off the bowling of Fidel Edwards on the opening day of the current Second Test in Barbados.
On-field umpire Ian Gould suspected it was a no-ball and wanted confirmation from upstairs.
But the ICC have today admitted the wrong replay was given to third umpire Gregory Brathwaite, who was instead given pictures of an earlier legitimate delivery.
ICC match referee Chris Broad said: "Having looked into the situation, I am satisfied it was an unfortunate but honest mistake in what is a tense and live environment.
"Seeing as the game has continued, clearly there is no opportunity to reverse the decision. We are forced now put it behind us and move on with the remainder of the match."

Interesting situation in the Third Test. Rampaul went off injured and Windies were left with just 3 bowlers to bowl 90 overs (if Darren Sammy actually counts as a village bowler). Chanderpaul bowled for the first time in 5 years and took the weirdest wicket I've ever seen. Laxman was stumped leaving a ball. I've ruined Kohli's chances of becoming a decent cricketer by constantly talking him up. Mukund's already better than Sehwag so glad he'll be opening against England.

Anyway, Dennis Dhoni's playing a don of an innings. He has a decent average for someone with no technique or quality. 65* so far but already 6 down with the worst player ever to take 400 wickets at the crease with him. Prepared for some village garbage now that all the proper batsman are out.

I'm sure Swann could turn it on a day 3 Lords wicket. If it hasn't been turning it's because Harbhajan is utter shite these days. His bowling average in the last few years is well over 35. Fucking pie-chucking knobhead. Losing Zaheer was a massive blow.

Anyway, South Africa have done superbly to post such a strong total. And fair play with the aggressive declaration. The weather forecast seems quite good today and India might well be looking at following on before the day's over.

They need to score quick runs.

Even if they are all out for 200/250 its still a considerable lead so they should go out and whack it.

Anyone leaving or blocking it should be shot.

If anyone does leave/block and the Test ends as a draw then they can only blame themselves

Syn

Agree with cripps for once. England are in a brilliant position and should be very aggressive and put India in well before Tea tomorrow.
