The publication of Nick Hornby's football memoir Fever Pitch 20 years ago is often seen as the point when middle-class interest in football began. How far has the game changed since then?

etc.

Italia 90 and Euro 96 had far a bigger cultural impact.

fuckin addicts.

Good book fever pitch. Its annoying that ppl who support other teams just call it a book about an arsenal fan. Its about fanaticism in general. Its also hilarious.

Oh - I thought this was going to be how, against the odds, we pull off a magic win. Like 5-0 against Milan.

Watching the film brings it all back to me as if it were yesterday.

The crowds dancing in the street are just outside where I used to live on Conewood Street. I wish I could be there again. :upset:

In the 90th minute watching the game in the pub i did suddenly cry out "Thomas charging through the midfield!"

I think I was in the plimsole on the Sunday after(cant remember I was so pissed) for the parade. I remember these 2 old boys watching the game, they were also very very drunk. They were actually betting on the game as to who would win, while watching it back on VHS video tape. One of the best days of my life that Sunday, 250,000 gooners having the time of our lives.

High Fidelity and About a Boy are two of my favourite books.

Didn't like Fever Pitch much though.

Me too. I started going to the Arsenal in 1988, as a junior gunner, but Italia 90 was the same time as my 10th birthday, and thats when I really started to follow leagues, players, working out points, and actually really caring. After that I was hooked.
