Interesting. Just briefly - how do you mean? And what do you think of the way we handled the Ramsey one?

In hindsight it's easy to pick out little moments and conclude too much from it but, now, it seems being skippered by a captain who'll throw a hissy fit because the ref calls a decision wrong probably didn't help our mentality as a club. But was he hysterical because he was still upset by the Eduardo injury, no-one will know. And Cesc also was visibly upset in the post-match interview after the Ramsey injury. Though I think we knew the score by then and just decided to play their game a bit.

I don't mean so much in that match because that was a heightened incident and anything that happened there is understandable. I mean the mealy-mouth "we'll do it for Eduardo" messages when all we did, was balls it up for Eduardo. Bolton have stayed strong when their teammates life was in danger, whereas Arsenal wilted when their teammates livelihood was in danger.

Not. Good chance from a great assist, well taken. Not sure why that is Henryesque particularly.

I agree it wasn't particularly Henry-esque but I thought that was a superb finish. It was much more difficult than he made it look. The first touch needed to be spot on and the finish was lovely. One of the best goals we've scored all season.

Walcott's best goal? I don't see why not. He hasn't really shown us anything like this before; they've just been well taken across goal or whatever. His one against Villarreal was pretty good, in fairness.

I'd say the one against Shakhtar was his best.

I can't seem to find it on youtube. Was it the one where he ran from the halfway line on the break and Henry'd it in from 20 odd yards? That was good considering one of his main criticisms is that he isn't composed when given space.

He can finish but was always very frustrating with his all-round game. Lets hope he can stay consistent as he has in the past few weeks.

At the moment, it looks as if Jonathan Pearce and Steve Claridge were the best predictors - it would have been reasonable to expect that with their moneybags team, Chavs would have been in the mix. It's about time team goals won the award really.

Syn
25-03-2012, 10:58 PM
I much prefer team goals to individual strikes. If it's an individual run or something where he goes past a few players and nets, then fair enough. But Crouch's effort or Torres' against Blackburn a few seasons back...I just think there's no real calculation to it. I know it sounds snobbish but there you go. It it's going to be a volley, one that requires the #tekkers of Van Persie's is #asgoodasitgets. Team goals (preferably counter-attacking) are the best IMO. Can't think of any particularly outstanding ones - certainly not for Arsenal - but I'm sure there would've been a few across the league though nothing springs to mind. Man City were scoring some fantastic team goals early on.

Or there is Lansbury's U21 goal for England which was certainly better than Crouches if you are looking at Goal of the Season generally.
