Fulham are in via the fair play.

So thats Spuds, Stoke, Birmingham and Fulham representing England.

Has there ever been a more shite 4 clubs than that from England in a European competition?

I genuinely enjoy watching this competition, moreso in the knockout rounds. I love all these middling European teams - the Benfica's, Valencia's, Ajax's of football. Plus it's usually more open than the CL.

Amazing. In fact let's just keep on going. As soon as the playoffs are decided, get the fixtures drawn out - with the domestic season kicking off on Friday 3rd June. All done and dusted by the middle of April!

MISSED PAOK PENALTY: Chaotic scenes at the Toumba Stadium. Stefanos Athanasiadis surges into the area and is caught by Carlo Cudicini as he tries to go round him. This time, that is a penalty, and Cudicini is booked. Lino steps up to slot coolly home and turns to celebrate. He gets quite far too, before being called back and told to retake it because Cudicini had come off his line. Incredible. Lino has another go, and this time drills the ball low and wide of the left-hand post.

1836: Just to be totally clear. It is still PAOK Salonika 0-0 Tottenham

1835: MISSED PENALTY Lino slams the re-take wide of Carlo Cudicini's post.

1835: Hang on.. PAOK are being made to retake this penalty. NO GOAL

1834: GOALFLASH PAOK Salonica 1-0 Tottenham (Lino)

1832: PENALTY to PAOK

So PAOK score the penalty but its retaken cos the opposing keeper does something illegal?

Stupid rule. If he saves it then retake it. If scored then no

Last 3 games ive seen (including this) have killed football for me.

Early stages in europe tend to be boring though, its all about qualification tbh.

Rubin Kazan are winning 2-1 against Shamrock Rovers. They're top at the moment - a decent chance the Spuds could end up facing a CL team.

The Spuds want to be kicked out, though, don't they? Helps their effort to finish above us in the league, surely?

Spuds v City, Chelsea or Man Utd

Can it happen or is the protection thing there?

Also Spuds are 3rd in their group atm so they might not go through in the first place

McNamara That Ghost...
30-11-2011, 05:58 PM
Protection will be there. And Sub, possibly but you can't make squaddies lose, especially in the group stages of this competition. Also, it's half time in Rubin's game, I saw it as FT for some reason.

I don't think 'Arry could justify playing a weak team if they ended up drawing Borussia Dortmund for example so winning the group is probably for the best (it's more likely than not that they will go through).
