The MOTM thread died a death a while back so may as well put it to a vote.

RVP for me, 37 goals and 14 assists all season shows his importance to the team.

Koscielny was much improved and looks a decent defender these days. Still, he was part of a defence that conceded 49 goals so there's still work to be done tbh.

Obviously has to go to RVP, finally had a good long season after being injury-prone for so many years to show us how much talent he has.

Other players though also had moments, Arteta has been fairly good in balancing our play, Benayoun worked tirelessly whenever he was asked and scored a couple of vital goals, Song/Sagna for some assists . Walcott has been fairly crap again but played great against Spurs. Koscielny has been good, Mertesacker has been terrible !

RVP. Easy.

Come up with countless goals to win us points - not many of his goals were +1's.

Honourable mentions to Kos, Arteta and Chesney though.

Mertesacker has been terrible !

Mertesacker was generally very good, as evidenced by us being far more panicky in his absence. Like Arteta, he kept things calm for most of the time and executed the simple things well. He has been missed. He senses and cuts out danger before it occurs rather than allowing himself to be sucked into unnecessary, heroic last-ditch challenges. That's why he and Koscielny were the better partnership.

yep. verm is like a new toure in a way - covers up his mistakes with pace and goals but far too cavalier on the pitch, would be a better shout at lb but that won't happen now. mert and kos need to be our starting two.

Sagna missed half the season - and then for some reason decided to fuck up regularly in the last couple of matches. But granted, for about 10-12 games since his comeback, he was absolutely phenomenal.

I would go with:

Van Persie
Koscielny
Arteta

As a clear top 3. Rosicky had a good comeback year. Song was mostly good but recently bad. Szczesny did well and then let himself down recently (although, as Wenger says, maybe playing through an injury wasn't the best idea).

We sell Fabregas and Nasri, end up finishing a place higher, scoring two more goals and having two more points.

Just think how much better we'd be if we sold van Persie!

Anyway, for PoTS it is a no-brainer - RvP.

RvP - best player in the Premiership

Arteta - one of the most important and effective players in the EPL. He missed or was not an Arsenal player for 10 matches - we won 1 of them.

Koscielny - Our best defender - cleared up a lot of messes created by his colleagues and chipped in with the odd important goal.

I agree with your top 3. Like I said on the other thread, I think Song has been guilty recently of trying to over-compensate for the loss of Arteta and therefore any proper passing distribution from MF - and has left us exposed recently.
