Some other kids gone too. We're officially Hoyte-free.

There's probably about another 15 players we're looking to get rid of if buyers can be found.

He was a good 'keeper, he just couldn't iron out those little mistakes. He had a good run though.

Wonder if he'll post his thoughts on this version of GW.

Also, RVP's wages.

England's number one .

Good professional. Not his fault WUMger made him first choice. For the first few years, apart from a mistake against United in the Carling Cup, he was solid. Then seemed go on a self-destruction binge. I like to thing this was done for the good of the club and to make sure Woy Check Sir Chez Knee supplanted him.

After that though the errors crept in more and more.
Shame, I had high hopes for him.

07-08 or09-10? Because 09-10 was pretty much all his fault. If we had aSzczesny we'd have walked the league. The GK denied us at least 10 points that season let alone gaining a few points like sir chez is now.

The first one. We were 5 points clear before the Birmingham game. The goals that day weren't his fault IIRC and I don't remember him being to blame much in the subsequent run of draws which cost us the title.

Bout time really, never rated him always seemed to have an error in him and he made enough let's be honest, from the CL final to his last game. How long has it taken to get rid of the mediocre players, we seem to hold on to them longer than anyone else does.

He's a nice guy and a good professional but I'm glad he's gone tbh, I never thought he was anything more than a mediocre goalkeeper. He's a classic example of Wenger going for the cheap option rather than the right option, and that has cost us over the last 6 years.

Almunia is shite but Chesney has had a poor season. Can't think of many points he won us this season??

He almost cost us third with throwing the Wigan and Norwich home games.

my fave alumina moment.

on a serious note, i hope he does well wherever he goes. he never once moaned about us, always worked hard, gave his best and thats all i ever ask for. if the players who play for us give 100% then thats fine by me. he did that. not the best keeper nor the worst.

that is one of the stupidest posts on this forum. remember liverpool away? without chesney we lose that game 5-0. wolves away produced a blinder of a save and several others. top keeper who gained us points

I had the pleasure of bring behind the goal he made all those wonderful saves in the first half and where we got our two. A wonderful night.

Almunia was average at best. I'm not sure what other top club would have had him as number 1 for the length of time we did. Laughable that we stuck with him when he was making an error pretty much every other week, that wasn't his fault though of course.

Anyway,

Bye.

Hoyte has gone? :faint:

Almunia was a decent bloke. Just very lucky to get a few extended runs as keeper at a top club. Only member of the 'deadwood' it was easy to get rid off because of contract expiry. Chances are most of the rest will still be here on September 1st.

Alas no one is safe from Wengeritis

Well lets see if he gets rid of Denlison and Diaby. Both were the future of Arsenal despite everyone but Wenger knowing they werent up to it. He still refers to Diaby when talking about our midfield options so I cant see him being ditched.

He almost cost us third with throwing the Wigan and Norwich home games.Wouldnt say he was poor but hes clearly not the best in the league as GW seems to think.

He has potential to improve and as ive said all season long, he needs quality competition for the number one spot to keep him on his game cos his arrogance and complaceny will cost us.

Very sad to see the Hoyte dynasty end, we can think ourselves lucky we got to witness such greatness on the pitch, they were both truly majestic at the back.

I like to think we've been blessed in the fact that we got to witness the likes of Denilson, Hoyte and Almunia in the same team all at once, how many other clubs would be lucky enough players of that elk all playing at the same time, I can only really think of the the great Real and Milan sides perhaps.

No he does not Ches is our no 1 simples and will be for along time. We need a good 2nd choice.

Not at all you said he needs competion for the no 1 spot, well its never going to happen is my point. No Keeper as good as Ches will sit on the Bench its that simple.

We'd need a number 2 who be willing to do that but we need the best of his type.

i agree, hes overrated by fans. he has potential but i find him immature and he loses focus far too easily which has led to a few shockers from him this season.

Well no he was Bought as a no 2 not a number 1. Wengers mistake was given him the chance to be a no 1.

This guy was capable of some great stuff but there were times when he would make me go ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Goalkeepers are always going to maje mistakes and we are often quick to judge them harshly, it is often the case of some fuck up in front of them has forced them into action! But Almunia did not help himself, too many basic mistakes, too little confidence caused him to become a liability in a defence that need no help in the liabilitu department.

Thanks and good luck

Good luck to you, Almunia. You don't deserve some of the hate. He wasn;t good enough for us, but I find the polarity with which we excuse 'favourites' and condemn certain other players tiresome.
