Federer is playing the best and worst tennis out of the two players. Murray is just the usual 7.5/10

If Federer steps it up, Murray hasn't got a chance. But as long as the match goes on, you'd think Murray would have a physical advantage. Trade-off tbf.

Nah, giving people 'breaks' is why we never produce champions. It's the gallant loser syndrome, again and again. Analysing the game and saying he was beaten by the better player is one thing but then to actually feel sorry for him? It doesn't help the cycle.

You can't be criticising Murray for crying, surely? I'll assume you're criticising the media and others.

Murray is clearly not satisfied with being a gallant loser. Murray isn't as naturally gifted as federer and probably the other 2 above him in the rankings. He seems to be doing the best with what he has - and I think he should be proud of his efforts in this tournament.

I also think this was his best chance of winning a grand slam. Wouldn't be surprised if he can't clinch one now.

Also Maccy, this is why I doubted Federer's chances. Here or at any other Slam.

Benneteau's not exactly an up-and-comer (and Federer will probably still win) but he just can't dominate and hit through opponents any more. Not only is the depth in men's tennis getting better every year, every surface is becoming more or less the same. Everything has levelled out and for someone with a quick game like Federer, it's a disadvantage. He's obviously not able to stay at an incredibly high level for long periods either these days.

No Berdych or Tsonga to threaten his half this year, but it won't necessarily have to be someone that good.

Murray had the chances in the second set. It's the difference between great and very good though. Murray still doesn't convert enough break points and against the three guys above him, he has to take at least one. Federer, Djokovic and Nadal can play well below their standard, but will take their solitary chance ruthlessly. Murray doesn't kill his opponent off when he has an opportunity. It happened against Nadal last year, Djokovic in January and now Federer. As soon as Federer got in front, he was in full control. Lendl's main advice to Murray should be to turn into Tsonga on break points and just go mental, because he'll continue to be the almost man otherwise.

Castle was truly awlful as well. Just let Boris do it on his own.

Anyway, come on Olympics Tennis .

Murray's a badass. He did the first bit right by getting through to the final as soon as Nadal went out. We only half-expected him to do it, but he did, so he deserves some recognition for that. I do think he injured himself in that third set, in that 20 minute game, and that set the tone for the rest of the match. However, he didn't admit to it, and nor did he crumble- he's come on leaps and bounds in these last couple of years.

Federer's done it, fair play to him. However, I do think that the tennis that the likes of Djokovic, Tsonga, Murray and to some extent Nadal play is thoroughly more enjoyable.

Here's to Murray reaching that pinnacle of success very soon! :trophy:

Olympics Tennis is still best of three sets (apart from the final), which is disappointing.

Could lead to a surprise winner again. Maybe.

Nadal should be less knackered than the other top guys, despite his knee problems.

It's less prestigious than a Masters Series tournament (in terms of points) and has the four-players-per-country limit, but is otherwise pretty much the same as a normal ATP event.

You'd think only Tsonga could spring somewhat of a surprise really, with it being familiar territory for the players. Olympic magic could be in the air though and there's always some odd results.

McNamara That Ghost...

Interesting, so Muzza/GB should at least avoid Nadal/Spain again then, until the final. Having said that, he'd get Djokovic/Serbia, which isn't much better.

A TENNIS dimwit had to delete her Twitter account after being bombarded with abuse for asking: “Is Wimbledon always held in London?”

Georgia Ford, 21, posted the question online as Andy Murray lost the final on Sunday.

But her query was re-tweeted 7,000 TIMES.

One person called the question “the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard”.

Georgia, of South Shields, Tyneside, later said she thought Wimbledon was just the name of the competition and it moved each year.
