Good luck to Thomas, our new captain.

Hope he's a bit more loyal that the last 2 dicks.

Wishuwerehere isn't back until September from rumblings on another forum  we are top of the injury league though :scarf: just like winning a :trophy: :crying:

Verm is vice-captain so by definition he should be promoted when RVP fucks off.

If there is any chance Wilshere could make it back by September, fit and fine, I'd give him the captaincy. I think it'd help his game and it'd mean a lot to him.

If he is dead, give it to Sagna.

i think Wilshere is too young right now to be captain, but definitely a future captain

The question you have to ask is - would the captaincy mean anything to anyone else? Are they going to do anything different? Are they going to be committed to the club? Or are they just going to use it as an advertising point on their CV when the bigger clubs come knocking. I don't see any reason why Sagna or Vermaelen would be any more committed to Arsenal than Van Persie is.

It would mean something to Wilshere. He'd become more confident in his ability and he'd take more responsibility on the pitch. He's a kid but so was Tony Adams. There is the very minor issue of Jack being dead for the foreseeable future but, as I said, if there is any chance he gets the green light by September, give him the armband.

Adams got it pretty young and it was the making of him.

Wheelchair is a good shout, you know he's committed to the max. (If he fucks off within the next few years we might as well call it a day)

Wilshere is a good shout.

How about Chesney? It's unusual for a 'keeper to be captain but not unheard of and he's got a great rapour with the fans which most players don't these days.

sagna.

he wont take any sh*t from half hearted mercenaries. he's an intimidating fucker as it is and i think he'll thrive under the responsibility of captaincy, just like gilberto did when he was handed the armband. sagna's an absolute rock and id be proud to see him lead our line.

Not Chesney.

He needs to wind his neck in first.

Oh give it to Podolski. He will want out in 2 years, when his contract has 2 years left.

Do we even need a captain, is it a rule? Because all ours end up ditching us anyway. Which is a bit sad.

Sagna's a moany bitch that takes no responsibility. Not captain material. When shit hits the fan he moans, looks around and blames other players when there is confusion...far from inspiring.

Verms is captain. Vice....Arteta maybe.

Jack is a good shout but it could either be the birth or death of him.........the captain's role killed TH14 IMO

Verm has that glare about him but it would mean him starting every game and I'm not sure sold on him being the a shoe in at CB

not an easy one this.....I always liked Song but he is far too quiet! Arteta?

you need a player who is adept at their job or they will garner no respect.

so that completely rules out vermalean and chesney.

It'll be whoever wants out next, presumably.

We've just contracted TV, so it's gotta be someone on dodgy ground.

He'll probably give it to Theo to try and make him stay.

Id give it to Diaby- he has been at the club quite long now and is very loyal and has never tried to leave. Even if he had been able to walk, he would not have approached other clubs about a possible move. He would also be well-placed from the stands to get a good perspective of how we play.

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has heaped praise on new assistant boss Steve Bould for his role in their good start to the new season.

Defensively, The Gunners have been hugely impressively so far this term, keeping clean sheets in their opening three league games.

And Belgian ace Vermaelen says Bould, who was appointed in place of Pat Rice who retired in the summer, has played a major role in helping them tighten up at the back.

"He is our assistant now and has a lot of experience at a high level with Arsenal," Vermaelen told Sky Sports NewsHD.

"We work a lot on our defensive play and you can see that with our three clean sheets."

Vermaelen was speaking from Belgium's training camp as they prepare for World Cup qualifiers with Wales and Croatia.

He was seen with strapping on his ankle, but he insisted that there was no issue and he would be fit to play.

"It is fine, it just my ankle form last week - but it is okay," he added.

More laughing at the fact what he "said in the media". Add to the fact the guy is injured. if he was made captain, and he came out with this it be embarrasing more then it already is.

Verm is the right man for the job, if he were to leave tomorrow, i would give it to Arteta. Having watched the games so far this season, the pair of them have been vocal on the field, they've organised their respective defensive lines.
