dont know the ins and out of this story but if the above headline is true then it could be jail. most likely a fine and driving ban though given footballers recent history but knowing our luck it will be life in prison

I don't think Pulis was speeding away from cops though, thats what makes this more severe. If true of course.

I think you can have your licence taken for doing 100+ but it's up to the court to decide.

He'll get away with a fine or something anyway, can't see him going to jail.

SOCCER star André Santos was facing jail last night after he allegedly sped away from chasing cops at up to 130mph.
The Arsenal defender is also said to have weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic in his Maserati GranTurismo supercar.
He was finally nicked by the Gunners’ training pitch in London Colney, Herts, and could be jailed if guilty of dangerous driving.
Santos gunned his black Maserati to stretch ahead of pursuing police, it was claimed yesterday.
Cops were said to have struggled to keep up as the Brazilian international shot away at speeds of up to 130mph in the £110,000 car.
Police eventually stopped the 29-year-old left back 500 yards from Arsenal’s training ground.

GranTurismo drive ... Maserati supercar

The dad of one — who has several high-powered motors plus a tiny Smart Car for shopping — was arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop.
He must answer bail next month and could be jailed for up to two years if his case goes to crown court and he is convicted.
Yesterday Santos, who joined the Gunners last year from Turkish side Fenerbahce, was not behind the wheel as he left the training ground. He was driven away in the back of a BMW.

Hidden ... ace André Santos is driven off yesterday
The chase happened on the eve of the Premier League season as Arsenal prepared for their opening game against Sunderland at the Emirates stadium.
Police followed Santos because he allegedly drove erratically for several miles — but he is said to have taken off.

Built for speed ... sleek black Maserati GranTurismo
A source added: “The allegation is that he was travelling at speeds up to 130 mph. Further enquiries are ongoing to verify the speed using on-board police cameras and technical equipment.”
A witness who saw Santos after he was stopped said: “Two police cars were there and two or three officers were talking to the driver.”

Flying down the wing ... André Santos in action for Arsenal
Santos, a £5.5million buy hailed as a “quality player” by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, lives in London with wife Suelen and their nine-month-old son Arthur. And he has acquired a taste for British institutions like fish and chips and Strictly Come Dancing.
Although his team-mates know he has fast motors, they take the mickey out of his Smart Car.
He says: “They joke, ‘This is not a player’s car — you bought it because you don’t have any money.’ But it is very cute and very practical for London.”

so its more the weaving in and out of traffic that he will get the prison sentance for if convicted then the speeds. what a fucking idiot

prison sentence is the maximum sentence and it's unlikely to be imposed for a first offence unless the prosecution pushes for it as a way of making an example out of him. The most likely outcome will be a driving ban and a heavy fine.

Reality:
Santos was in the passenger seat of a car driving along at 35mph on a 30mph and speed camera clocked the veh, but he was on the opposite side of the road without the white lines so they won't be able to prosecute and give the driver a fine/points.

The Sun's take:
Santos' drug-laden pimp car was seen in 3 separate hit-and-run incidents, the last of which involved 63 police officers and resulted in a 4-hour high-speed chase through a crowded fruit market.

Andre says:

I was going to work, to training. It was about 8:30/9am. I was driving on the motorway and I was a bit over the speed limit because I was running a little late. As soon as I saw the police I pulled over. They asked for my papers and I respectfully obliged, knowing they were only doing their job. I had my passport and drivers license with me, and I’m allowed to drive with my [foreign] license for a year.

They told me I was going to fast, and I ended up missing training. As soon as I arrived I explained everything to the club and Arsenal offered all assistance possible. I have to be in court in September when I’ll present all my papers, i.e, passport, local and foreign driving license. I was going too fast but not as fast as The Sun has reported

He probably just missed a place that they considered a convenient and safe place to stop when trying to find somewhere that HE considered a safe place to stop.

At least that's what his ridiculously rich lawyer will successfully argue.

Arsenal defender Andre Santos has been charged by police with dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention.

The 29-year-old was arrested last month just a couple of miles from the club's training ground.

The Brazilian was apprehended by officers who noticed a car - believed to be a Maserati GranTurismo - being allegedly driven at around 130mph by a driver who failed to stop.

He is due to appear before magistrates later this month, and could be jailed for up to two years if his case goes to Crown Court and he is convicted.

Santos, who is understood to own several expensive cars, joined the Gunners last year from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman confirmed: 'Andre Santos, 29, of East Finchley, north London, has been charged with dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention on August 17th this year in Mill Hill, north west London.'
