this time last year we had conceded almost 20 goals with the same defence. this year we have conceded 5. two of which you cannot blame the defence for but instead vermaelen and chesney.
so its pretty dam obvious bould has made an improvement
Funny that since he has only let in 1 goal this season.

I want an effective Management team.
We had that, and we didn't have a 'big name' among them.
We did but Wenger has done a fine job of taking this once great club down the shitter. I feel it'll take a big name to right those wrongs as an inexperienced manager might not be able to handle it

Um what?
You do realise they are part of the defence?
yes i know, but you can hardly blame the defence for chesney dropping an easy catch or vermalen giving away a penalty for making a stupid tackle.
kos is part of the defence too, however you seem to be blaming him solely for the goals cheslea scored

my point was that two of the goals have been from indvidual mistakes that no one else can be blamed for. chesney made one of those mistakes hence why he is blamed

Cos they were his fault?
Just like i blamed Ches for his howler and Verm for a stupid needless tackle.
Difference being, we won the 2 games they had howlers in so if i had focused on them, you'd be the first to point out i was focusing on the negative.
I treat all players the same. Im not in the business of critisising one player to praise others

Yes becasuse there are so many big name mangers out there and our board are really going to spend big to get one.
We don't need a big name just someone who can be effective.

You don't seem to understand the concept of a management team and the dynamics inherent in the management team that led to the success we had.

Wenger wont be leaving any time soon. When he does, who knows who will be available? That is all thats keeping us going these days. The day Wenger leaves and we get our Arsenal back

i siad two goals can be blamed on indivduals not hte defence, you said they are the defence implying that you blame them all not just one then say you can blame the indivdual. im really not sure what your point is?

Your Arsenal back?
You are just regurgitating stuff you heard from elsewhere without understanding what you are talking about because Wenger has been in charge since you were knee high to a grasshopper.

They were the key elements in that team. A Manager alone without support within the corridors of power will at best enjoy short term success.

I must have been short for a 14 year old then.
I was around for the Graham years from 1990 onwards. How we could do with those days back

Oh dear.
Ok let me try and explain this
You said you cant blame the defence for Vermaelens and Ches mistakes. I said they are part of the defence so we can. That doesnt mean we blame every defender playing but of course you know that and just WUMming

so i cant blame ches or vermaelen for mistakes because they are part of the defence however you can blame kos for the chelsea game entirely on his own.
and im the one wumming?

All our defenders apart from jenko have made a few mistakes. Merts made a few when we played Monty, Kos made a few too and TV 5 has.
Our Defence as a whole needs working on, not just lets play merts there and we'll be fine and win the league.
end of the day we win as a team loose as a team.

Some thoughts?
Mannone was at fault throughout for failing to organise his defence. This lack of communication was compounded by Mertesacker being dropped, as up until now, when Mannone's played he's done the job for the keeper.
The result could easily be seen as the difference between the two team's GK's. Cech kept them in the game with a great save. Mannone failed to do so for their second.
Kos and Verms don't sit right together, but even so haven't played either together, or with the keeper this season. Making 2 changes (Verms changing position as well), was not a great idea when playing the likely league champions at home. That said, I can understand why with the pace that the Chavs had AW wanted to use 2 quick CB's - but it backfired.
Diaby going off so early was a blow to our plans going forwards. If he had played, he would have drawn their MF's out of position and created more space for Santi to work in.
We are 2 points ahead of where we were last season when RVC was playing for us. We are still a work in progress, and the team is still finding its balance. Our most creative pairing to date has been Carzola and Podolski - and we have to give credit to Chelsea for keeping this very quiet. However, they have a very settled, experienced and effective defence, and we were always going to struggle to create openings. I still have faith that between Carzola; Podolski; Gervinho and Giroud we can share the goals that RVC scored for us last season.
Giroud is trying too hard. He has been restricted to bit parts this season, and needs to find understanding with our other players, and his scoring boots. Unlike Chamakh his scoring record in France was very good. Too soon to write him off, IMO. Torres missed almost as easy a chance.
Not a good day in the office, but no need to hit panic stations yet, IMO.
:haha::haha::haha:
exactly. it's about as likely as us winning a trophy any time soon.

It is no surprise to see some get at Kos as it isnt when some get at Theo (yours truly) when he has yet another sub par game. . .its just the way we are!
But I think we need to accept that be it the team or an individual there are going to be off days and for the team, including Kos, Saturday was one of them.
The argument that Merts shouldnt have been dropped carries weight too but Kos OG was not down to him being in instead of Merts, he was unlucky, maybe lacked some judgment. . .
I also do not think we were beaten by a massively superior team. . .I didnt watch all of the game but what I saw was an Arsenal team that lacked passion and I believe it was here we`let ourselves down and what contributed to the loss.
Chelsea are the pace setters and they have a good team again but they wont win every game, neither will the otherq. . .we need to put this game behind and hit the ground running again against the Hammers. . .start to put a little run together and we will look decent again.
S bit naffed we lost at home as its there we need to get the most points. . .

i know but we are chumps.
@ice berg - if we took any cups seriously then sure, but we don't. a cup win like chelseas is more likely to happen to a team than a sustained league campaign ending in victory.
