Lawro predicts

Liverpool  Things must be bad if even Lawro predicts a defeat against a relegation threatened team

McNamara That Ghost...

What Gareth Bale is doing differently this season is the amount of times he comes through the middle. To get a player who is ostensibly a wide man to realise he can go through the middle of teams and score means that he has another side to his game. He has learnt that if he comes in from wide, he has more area to play in, he can run at centre-backs and find gaps. Besides his fantastic pace, ability to go past people and send in dangerous crosses he is now finding areas where he has more space and more time, and he can destroy teams.

Lawro is a berk. That's exactly what Bale was doing last season and to the detriment of the team, too.

Marc Overmars

Bale is a bit of a machine but I remember when he was getting all billy big bollocks last season and his form and subsequently Spurs' tailed off.

Feel a bit sorry for Bale tbh, this McCarthyesque witchhunt against "diving" is going to work against skilful players in the EPL. I understand why players go to ground in these situations, because otherwise referees don't give a penalty/free kick.

Today, I thought it was a penalty, there was contact with the knee and Gardner's arm also goes out and catches him. Sure, he doesn't "need" to go down, but most players would do the same as him.

When you're running at that speed and someone makes contact with you, you're going to go down. I don't think anyone can really call that a dive, unless they've got their Arsenal tinted specs on.

McNamara That Ghost...

When you're running at that speed and someone makes contact with you, you're going to go down. I don't think anyone can really call that a dive, unless they've got their Arsenal tinted specs on.
Wouldnt call that a dive

I don't feel sorry for him at all (he gets defended enough as it is). As a great man once said, "stay on your feet".

Contact shouldn't equal a pelanty anyway. Sort it out FIFA.

True he doesn't get criticised by the press as much as someone like Suarez (who despite being a twat has been unfairly denied multiple penalties because he's considered a "diver"). And he has definitely dived in the past (against us last season at the Emirates) but this one today wasn't a dive IMO.

More from Tottenham winger Gareth Bale:
"That's the third time now I've been clipped and booked for no reason again. There's nothing I can do, the referees need to look a bit closer. People think I'm diving when there's contact. If there's contact it's a penalty or free kick, there's nothing I can do. If there's contact, what do you want me to do - hit my head on the floor? I have to put my hands down to protect myself. If people kick me, I'm going to go down. It doesn't bother me, people keep saying I'm diving but it doesn't bother me whatsoever. It's a foul and I know it myself."

Sounds like hes not bothered
