Seriously?

It seems like every game this season we've started slowly and lethargically, only to be kicked up the arse by the fact that if you do that, you tend to go a goal down.

Looking back through our fixtures:

Liverpool - shocking first half, decent second
West Ham - shocking first half, good second
Chelsea - shocking first half, decent second
Man City - shocking first half, slightly better second
Southampton - didn't watch
Newcastle - Poor first half, brilliant second

That's only our last 6 games, all (with the possible, but improbable exception of Southampton away) following the same pattern.

What's going on?

I don't think we control games as well as we used to, the opposition are not afraid to have a go at us now primarily because there's such a soft centre to the team.

Agreed. The opposition are not afraid to totally outplay us for large segments of the match.

We don't press in the first half and only start putting our backs in once we are behind. Fortunately our defence is so shit and galvanises the forwards into ongoing rescue missions.

Recent accidents have been affecting our first half performances.

What's going on?

"Splitting matches into two 45-minute periods, Arsenal have won only five first-halves compared with 13 second halves. No side in the League have played better in the second period "

Has any team played worse in the first?
