View Full Version : 4th place or nothing?

Me and a few of my mates were having a discussion on whether if we were not to get 4th place, would you rather finish 6th so that we could avoid the Channel 5 cup? I honestly think it would be better to avoid the UEFA Cup and concentrate on the PL.

The sad thing is, I reckon the spuds will get 4th easily, thanks to that monkey faced cu#t Bale!

Would I rather finish lower in the league? No, not really.

It's not the Champions League but I would rather us be in Europe than not.

i can't see us getting fourth because we're not consistent enough to put together any sort of run of games needed to get back there and stay ahead of spuds/chavs. but i want us to finish as high as we can and i would much prefer us to be in the europa league than not.

Rather have Europa League than nothing.

We're getting 4th because there's only one team who bottle it bigger than us when the heat is on and that's our reserves the shadow dwellers. Four points is nowhere near enough for them to stay ahead over 12 games. They'll be 5th, hopefully on goal difference. We'll win ten and draw two in the run-in.

Spurs haven't had their customary collapse yet.

It's on.

I don't particularly care for the Europa League but that's only because we've been fortunate enough to compete in the CL every year. Ultimately it's still a trophy to win and a trophy that carries European kudos at least, something which we as a club don't have much of in our history. So I'd rather be in it if we missed out on the CL.

 Pretty much. CL ftw. If it's that I'd rather get 6th I think.

Hopefully they would drop points against Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. The game on the 3rd of March will have added incentive as long as we pick up max points before that. Was it last season or before when they were almost out of sight, then we played them, won, and they never recovered whereas we went on to overhaul them?

Failing that we could go on and do a chelsea and luck our way to a champions league win. Never gonna happen, but I'd prefer that.

away to montpellier is not that far ahead if we're being honest. it gets better in the knock outs and let's face it, we won't be shitting ourselves come the last 16/quarter final that we're facing a spanking.

Kazakhstan United have just bought Quaresma, Gyan and Heskey, so I wouldn't dismiss them quite so quickly.

Wouldn't mind the Europa league to be honest, it'd be a bit of a change from the so predictable CL and we might at least get to the final before losing.

It's also important for our coefficient to remain in Europe, as City have shown you don't really want to be outside the top pot of seeds in the CL.

Europa League is pure filth.

Must avoid.

How do you aim to finish in sixth?

When you look like finishing higher, bring Gervinho on.

Just terrible the way Stoke fans are treated on here.

Like last season the Spuds have a rock hard run between early March and mid-April. For Chelsea five of their last six are rock hard.

Also, hidden that image behind a spoiler. Not sure anyone wants that looking at them.

We're walking 4th this year and could even get 3rd if Abramovich helps us out (which he usually does)
