Dennis Berkamp one of Arsenal’s greatest players is to be honoured with a new statute outside the Emirates Stadium.

The Dutch international who scored 87 goals for the Gunners in 315 games between 1995-2006, is to be immortalised in stone.

Below is a sneak preview of the statue.

The design captures Dennis Bergkamp’s grace and agility showing the former Arsenal number 10 controlling the ball in mid-air with a flying karate-kick.

Very nice. A great action shot. Much more dynamic than the eleven statues we place on the pitch.

...coming next "and for his 15th year of service and his total of 22 full matches for Arsenal a statue of Diaby called 'kick to the head' recording the highlight of his career twating that twat JT."

The club are pissed off it's been leaked

They've been forced to go all arsenal.com before time

I'm sure they were waiting for the optimum PR time to announce it too :pal:

In this sort of case, I think they should be pissed off about the leak.

Why? As LDG said, they only would've used it to bury a bad result. Fuck them.

Is there such a thing as being too cynical for this case?

I get the argument and I can't stand some of the PR stunts they pull to paper over the cracks. But this is Bergkamp and I would hope they'd have preferred to unviel the statue when things have simmered down a bit and we're not as down and negative. It should all be about Bergkamp when unveiled and not about the current shower of shit served up.

I can't help but be cynical these days, unfortunately.

That said. You are right. Bergkamp has to be my favourite player for Arsenal when all is said and done. So it is really nice to see that he will be honoured by the club.

If only we still had the likes of Dennis on our books :(

Spot on. You dont have to be an iron ore scientist or whoever deals with rocks and stuff to see that the statue is too pale to be made of a high quality metal. This paper mache mockery was commisioned the morning after the bayern game and the contract given to a local BTEC college.

If bergkamp deserved a statue why wasnt he given one when adams, henry and wenger got theres? They know that for some reason this one-in-four pass merchant is the fan favourite (by virtue of the big spanish clubs deciding against taking him from us)
