View Full Version : Adidas Deal Off?

Lord Nelson

Not sure if it is just paper talk but apparently Adidas have pulled out of the shirt deal for next season? This money was apparently going to give us a £70m war chest! If this is true, and we fail to get fourth place, we could really be fucked!

Did a search and it looks like there never was a deal, but that Adidas aren't even interested in bidding to be kit manufacturers.

This story has been floating around the place for days now....

Still unconfirmed, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised should it turn out to be true.

Surely, they'll be considering our steadily declining global appeal due to how comically defeatist and non-competitive we've become.

I guess our loser mentality is finally having an impact on the financial side, maybe the board and management will start taking note now.

Maybe there's a lesson to be learnt by the club here, don't expect megbabucks marketing deals if you're not delivering on the pitch and not showing any type of ambition.

This is why we need Usmanov now. He really could be our last chance at spending some big money. Our board are such a bunch of pussies! Get rid, now!

Either way, any money which is from any deal, won't be spent on transfers

Pretty much.

The club is currently in a never-ending circle of self-imposed water-treading. WUMger can be infuriating. The weather may perhaps be depressing. Walcott might be shit.

But that surely shouldn't lead to people's basic logic, reasoning and all other cognitive functions to break down.

When sensible posters overreact and panic and oh noes in reflex to every little thing associated with the club, it's probably more ridiculous than petulant "my favourite is better than yours" point-scoring.

We could always just sell the shirts for profit and play skins, every penny counts. Or use crayons to scrawl Nike on Giroud's arse, we could get a fiver for that at least and who knows how much for the advertising.

Sure i remember reading that its based on our participation this £150m (or whatever it was) deal. Didnt see anyhwere what it would mean if we didnt qualify but maybe theres a clause to say it drops to 25p and a packet of crisps if we only get europa. anyone have a scooby about this?

As long as we actually end up spending this money on decent players this can only be good news. However it makes it even more essential that we finish in the top four so we can attract some quality players with our new money. We don't want to do a Liverpool and sign overpriced crap just because we can't attract top players.

Theoretically, if what the leechesboard say is true and the financial constraints are easing, most of this money or at least the excess over what we have now with Nike ought to be available for the team. It will be interesting to see what happens to this money then.

Yep, I do too. Leopards and spots and all that. Whilst I'm not advocating Arsene spends all his money in the first shop he walks into I am hoping he's going to be a lot more proactive and aggressive in the market.

No we don't want "Messi", that's totally unrealistic, but we should now be operating in the 2nd tier market, 20million pound player type market and not routing around the "Bargain Bucket" in Ligue One.

Again - commercially rather than football-wise, AFC is a player. Hard to believe that a better financial deal could have been gotten. When you consider how long its been since we won anything, the Puma deal is pretty amazing.
