we had better be fucking ready and not kick off with another slow, turgid start.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp: "I couldn't have asked for any more, we gave everything we had, worked hard and in the first half we were the better team.

"It looks in tatters doesn't it, it's very difficult. We've got to try to win a game or two, we've got to go to Reading next week and try to win. It looks almost impossible doesn't it. It would take a real miracle.

"It's difficult but life is not always fun. What am I going to do - play golf every day? You don't walk into a side that hasn't won for 13 games and start winning every week. It's probably more difficult than I thought - there's an awful lot of work that needs to be done here.

"People say this team will come straight back up -that's rubbish. There needs to be an awful lot of work done over the summer for this team to be in contention next season."

An FA Cup is rather inconsequential for what the owners have been trying to achieve and the backing they've had in being able to do that. 13 points behind wth the title decided in April is terrible. Then again, maybe it's not that much of a shock given they only won the league on goal difference when they were apparently outstanding.

People have been praising Mancini for what will be 3 trophies in the last 3 seasons so I don't think it's that bad tbh especially considering what came before. It's not a great season but they're in the CL and will have a trophy for the trophy cabinet.

If he's sacked, it'll prove it doesn't matter. The trophy glory is for the fans and temporarily for the players, for the owners it won't be like that. They didn't invest all that money to be succesful in a trophy which is largely discarded by many teams.

Yeah I'm sure most people at City don't think the season would qualify as a success at all, but getting a trophy at the end of it (no matter that the FA Cup probably doesn't rank as high on their list of priorities) means that it's now 3 seasons in a row where they've won a trophy, and they've maintained that winning habit which will probably stand them in good stead for next season.

With City it's strange. Abramovich would've gotten rid of Mancini LAST season after their early CL exit. Sheikh Mansour stayed with him, and it paid dividends. This season, again, plenty of opportunities to sack Mancini, but nothing of it. It may prove fruitful again, with the capture of the FA Cup.

Will they get rid of Mancini close season? Or are they actually looking at the market and waiting for a better manager than Mancini to come along? Either way, compared to Abramovich, the way the Sheikhs are going about it is commendable.

As for van Persie, if it IS to be believed, then City were willing to pay him 300k/week, but he didn't want to sell his soul entirely....

"I cannot believe we lost this game. We had it under control and played very well for 80 minutes.

"We had everything in order, it is strange. It is not a correct result, but congratulations to Tottenham for the win.

"We needed to win as we want to get the second position. We would have had a better life in the next week if we had won.

Well if they do win it of course. If you're able to invest so heavily in the squad, being able to win trophies should come with the territory. I don't forsee doing well in seven games as being enough to weigh against doing relatively badly over the course of 45 (38 in the league, plus Carling Cup hammering against Villa and the Champions League games).
