I don't know. Maybe Tremlett will bowl in the ODIs so they don't want to risk him but they do look quite crap.

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 12:01 PM
Aussies 112-1 at lunch.

Shaqiri Is Boss
21-08-2013, 12:13 PM
I'm not even sold on experimenting in the first place. But especially when they look like they've been found down the back of the sofa.

Wring the Aussie's necks! Been waiting the best part of 2 decades for the chance to do it and when they get that chance they take their foot off in favour of giving these two a nice day out.

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 12:23 PM
It's why I don't ever think we'll win a series against them 5-0, even if the weather was clement. When it comes down to it, we're just too nice for that.

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 12:55 PM
118-2, Swann gets his bunny Rogers. Again!

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 01:05 PM

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 01:10 PM

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 01:21 PM

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 05:01 PM
289-4, what a catch from KP to get rid of Watson on 176!

Broad only just avoiding a no-ball.

McNamara That Ghost...
21-08-2013, 05:16 PM
Aussies close on 307-4, Smith on 66, Siddle on 18.

Who the hell are the pubbers? Did they just pick 2 people from the crowd Santino Marella style?

McNamara That Ghost...

I think that would've had more success tbf.

It will never happen of course, but if the weather is okay today, how about a couple of 'sporting declarations'? Meaning England have a legitimate run chase and there is a bit of point to today even existing.

McNamara That Ghost...
25-08-2013, 08:14 AM
England being aggressive? Hmm I doubt it.

What a wonderful ODI i mean day five of a test match....made out for the wash out on day four and the turgid england batting on day three.

Pietersen gave a fantastic cameo....and we were so close....feel cheated by the Umpires but it's not their fault they have to follow the law no matter how silly or arbitrary that law is.

So overall, was 3-0 right?

1st test - Aussies would have won bar Broads cheating and umpires shitness

2nd test - England won and rightfully so

3rd Test - weather costs Aussies

4th - Aussies well in it but collapse so give tis to England

5th - Aussies dominating but rain fucks it up again.

So Aussies would ave won 3-2 overall.

England squad performance

Alastair Cook 6/10 - Given a higher mark than his performance merits because he has tried very hard this series but it just hasn't gone for him with the bat. Like his predecessor Strauss is a rather Conservative captain and won't take any unnecessary risks...field setting hasn't been great but has had a canny knack of picking bowlers at just the right time.

Joe Root 5/10 - With the exception of his second innings at Lords has had an Ashes series to forget, gives you the impression that he could do well once he gets settled at the crease.

Jonathan Trott 5/10 - Gives you the impression he is trying too hard, this has been his first bad patch in the England side....reasonably good performance at the Oval gives you confidence to think he will be back in form by the time we play again in November.

Keven Pietersen 4/10 - Overall total isn't bad (though poor by his standards) but you feel that Pietersen is getting himself out by playing at shots he doesn't need to in order to both prove a point and entertain the crowd.

Ian Bell 9/10 - When we have reached over 300 in an innings it's usually because of the contribution of this man an excellent performance in an otherwise poor series for Batsmen.

Matt Prior 5/10 - Subdued with the bat and with the gloves has been very ordinary

Stuart Broad 6/10 - Mr Inconsistency, excellent spells in the second innings at the riverside and at the Oval offset with rather listless token contributions throughout the rest of the series.

Johnny Bairstow 4/10 - A wicket keeper batsmen who looks susceptible with the bat playing across the stumps and obviously had no oportunity to displace Prior as wicket keeper.

Graeme Swann 8/10 - Deserves to be the highest wicket taker in the series, nothing spectacular just bowls over after over and keeps a good economy rate for a spinner and wears the batsman down.

James Anderson 7/10 - On form the best fast bowler there is, not perhaps his imperious best but with the wickets shared out much of the burden was taken off him.

Tim Bresnan 7/10 - Series cut short by back injury generally looked decent with both bat and ball....should be a starter in Australia.

Steve Finn 4/10 - Very expensive with the ball

-----

Not really fair giving points to Woakes and Kerrigan as were both thrown in at the deep end rather although Woakes looked pretty decent with the bat.

Ain't he ever...Oh right.

Broadly agree, I'd go a mark higher for Anderson despite his occasional barren spells, and Bresilad was invaluable with both ball and bat when call upon. Trott in particular needs to sort it out - today's biff does not atone for a very awkward looking series.

Extremely harsh on KP.

Not at his best but vastly better than Cook and Trott.

And also, if you're out playing a shot, nothing wrong with that. If you're out when you leave or block a ball which happens all the time, that is the embarrassing wicket cos the whole point of blocking is to not get out.

Anderson for me was a 6/10.

Bar the first test, very ordinary. I heard people call him the best in the world  The likes of Dale Steyn and Sharma must be rolling in their graves

And leaving shots you don't need to play is the difference between a test cricketer and a one day cricketer, Pietersen batted through the series like a one day cricketer with the exception of his knock at Old Trafford which came after a patience build up from him.

Getting out to a shot you don't play is far worse than trying to score runs and getting out.

There is a reason KP is our best batsmen by a mile

3-0. Aussies thrashed. England while not being outstanding where efficient and won the pressure moments. The Aussies are acting as if they only didn't win 5-0 because of the rain, they haven't won a test in 2013.

Return the urn went well for them. Now lets stuff them in their home grounds
