Koscielny  (apart from their consolation goal).
Feo . As frustrating as he is, his output is really impressive. Another goal and two assists.
Giroud . Looks sharper and more confident.

Walcott was brilliant, a goal and two assists (he could have had another but for a marginal offside call). If he keeps this up he should have 15+ assists next season. I think he's also shown he does have a football brain and his only asset is not just pace. A player without ability wouldn't be able to lob Hart the way he did, or make the two passes leading to goals 2 and 3.

Great performance. Particularly impressed with Ramsey, Giroud and Theo.
Only worrying thing was that they were able to get at our defence and test our GK far too easily imo. We won't always be able to rely on Kos and Szechny to save us which is why a DM is most imperative right now ... that and Bould needs to keep working with them. Then again this was Man City so perhaps I'm being a bit too harsh here.

We're pretty shit in reality but it just could be we're not as shit as most of the other teams in this league. Really low standard of football. But if this is a hint we are abandoning the hateful tippy tappy and instead going for the hoof over the top to our pace players then that might be the biggest step forward we've taken in years.
Ramsey is starting to look like the kid we initially signed. Could be it's just taken him a long long time to get over that injury. Ox looked a bit better today and even Theo hit a couple of decent crosses. Giroud took his goal well but he's still a mule rather than the thoroughbred striker we'll need to really challenge. Kos good apart from their goal when he was pretty easily overpowered by city's version of Nick Bendtner.
Navas putting in an early claim to be the hate figure of the year, bookies surely lowering odds on that.

Way too soon to tell on the strength of a few minutes. He was solid, tall, puts in a strong tackle (including illegal ones) and looks to pass the ball forward which is always useful. But this was a friendly, he's trying to impress, no conclusions can be drawn yet.

We need quality players badly (3-4 of them) a friendly doesn't convince me otherwise, though it may convince Wenger sadly.

It's not a good squad, it has the makings of a good squad if 3-4 players of Cazorla's quality or better are added. then we can challenge. Otherwise we're looking at a 4th place squad in a fairly weak league. If we don't add those 3-4 players this year, when everything is up in the air, it's unforgivable.

although it is just a friendly. for the first 60 odd minutes, it was pretty much first teams for both sides. there is a fair amount we can take from this game. its not like this game is played in asia weeks before the season starts. it was played one week before the season starts. the final game of pre season. while not played at 100%, it was close to it. this team looked good, kept city quiet and attacked well. the pass by ramsey for theos first was gorgeous. his goal was lovely and girouds was great too.
attacking wise, this team looks good. the players are linking better, making better runs. podolski as a striker doesnt work. hes too static, whereas with giroud up front, there was a lot more movement, creating space for others. Theo, Ox, Ramsey all had great games today and so did Koscienly,
we played what i imagine to be the starting team against villa, maybe rosicky in for Jack. Citys starting eleven was close to their best too i think, although they didnt play aguero. i think there is a lot we can take from this game, the current players are good, they just need that extra quality brought in like suarez to really push on. we need spaces filled on the bench too rather then youngsters. signing someone like gustavo does that, if he starts we can have ramsey/jack/arteta on the bench, and if he doesnt, hes on the bench. thats a much better option to have then we do currently. we played city and beat them one week before the season. thats a good sign. need to up the level v villa as usual but this team, with added quality have the makings of a trophy winning side. I cant wait for the new season, as usual i think we will win something this year. Either way, its going to be a long and bumpy ride but real football is back in a week, im going to be at the Emirates and i cant fucking wait.

Credit where its due, was a decent performance today. Ramsey, Theo and the back four were all superb. Ox and Weelshere looked sharper, and Giroud is looking good. Perez only played 20 minutes so too early to judge, but I loved his cynical hacking of one of their players.. we don't see that enough! Only player I was dissapointed with was Podolski, needs to get more involved.
As said by others though, we don't have a good squad. We have a good 15-16 players. That's not really the same thing. I hope this result doesn't blind Wenger to deficiencies of the squad.

Not surprised by Theo's finish as he is that damn good but his assists were Bergkampesque. Simply awesome. Massive player for us. Keep him fit and in form and titles coming home.
Not all was perfect. Negredo making Kos look a weak ass bitch isn't good to see and I fear a return to the dark days for Kos of 7/7/10 to 3/3/13 where he was a bit shit.
Hoping he gets it out of his mind ASAP and goes back to the awesomeness he showed in the last 10 games of last season

I only seen the goals tbh.
He took his goal rather well but it was harder to miss. It was laid on a plate to him by the assist although the Ramsey of last year would have fucked that up for sure so him actually scoring shows signs of improvement.
Read on here that he's had a good pre season, I can't comment as I haven't seen any games bar the raping we got from Drogba. Hope he has. His injury can no longer be used as an excuse although some still use Diabys injury in 2006 to defend him now. I will name no names of course

You do realise players can improve right? Especially when it's the same group with no departures who've had a whole another year to gel together.
Besides I don't recall anyone not asking for signings. Most are aware we need a few quality signings to make a good attempt at the league this year.

Phwooaar!!
Wenger apparently can't spot decent defenders, but Citeh have spent about £7695848 billion and have only one consistent defender to show for it. Maybe two with Zabaleta. And both were Hughes signings.
That much spent and Lescott is your only back-up.
they have had the best goals conceded record over the past two years though, so as a unit, they are very good.
and there is no way i am putting all of that down to joe hart either.

Got to say we were very clinical by the looks of things. Caught the bitesize highlights on Arsenal.Com and all our goals were great finishes. From what I gather, we spent a large part of the match chasing shadows...not surprising really, they are a very good side.
Friendly or not, that was a good result and will give the lads plenty of confidence going into the season. Just need Arsene to pull his finger out now and start closing deals, very important week for us in regards to Player recruitments.
