Big clamour for David Dein now, can't disagree he did a fantastic job at the club until PHW kicked him out because he wanted to keep control of the money.

That guy and the hoser before him have articulated it very well. People are investing a lot of time and money coming from all over the world to support this club. And like everyone outside the board and management, they are genuinely bewildered by what is going on. These aren't hotheads on an Internet forum, these are guys with very obvious passion for the club, supporting it and going beyond what most of us do here, and they are being slapped in the face by men who have given nothing of any financial value and who have profited beyond the comprehension of most who get behind this club.
It is sickening.:gp:
The merchandising, the over-saturation of coverage in the papers, on TV, on the internet.
The corruption in the FA, UEFA and FIFA.
The sky-high ticket prices, the pandering to the corporate fans.
The complete disregard of clubs for what the loyal, long-term fans want, the treating of fans like customers.
The horrible c***s that are most footballers these days, the obscene salaries.
The Sky money, the expansion of the CL, the distribution of money in the game being so uneven.
F*** all of it.
F*** Arsenal. F*** football.
It's not a sport any more, not the sport I fell in love with anyway. I'm sick of all of it.

This is a reflection of society - all that boring shit I drone on about that people wish I'd shut up about. Football is far from the bubble they make out. The crazy money is only a carbon copy of the environments enjoyed by non-productive, thieving banksters or expense fiddling, chauffeur driven sock puppet politicians who front up a betrayal of the people (or the "fans" of democracy if you like). Evil football bastards in Yugoslavia could fuel a revolution. Could saner fans over here use that penchant for assembling in numbers to crash the absolute cunt pricks that have replaced our police and walk right up to the abusing cunts in charge of everything and "have a word"? That's what will get the sport you love back.

The only thing that will get the game back is if people en masse think "f*** this" and stop watching.
Stop going to games. Stop buying the f***ing shirts. Stop subscribing to Sky.

Maccy is a classic establishment figure. He sits in the background monitoring everything with his huge array of screens. Everything that moves, he knows about it. There's nothing we can do to stop him, resistance is futile, our weapons are useless. Listen, and understand. He's out there. He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. he doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until we are buying the new away kit - which incidentally can be obtained from an Arsenal Store near you.

the champions league has made fuck all difference. gustavo still chose wolfsburg, suarez aint coming, and we havent capitalised on the fact we finished 4th. i doubt we'll go on a spending spree even if we win the qualifier. we'll get one player if we're lucky and he'll be a 2-bob that wenger can nurture.

CL is a bit pointless. If we're worried about qualifying then we aren't going anywhere in the competition. Plus with a tiny squad we'll be better off playing the minimum number of games possible. So early exits from all the cups would do us a huge favour. Or just play the kids in all the cup comps including the CL. Wrap the few first team players we have in cotton wool and try to finish as high up the table as possible in preparation for a proper manager coming in.

Not sure if it's been posted already but new quotes from Wenger about the game yesterday and his future.
The Gunners manager does not fear for his job despite a trying summer and a 3-1 opening-day Premier League defeat to Aston Villa that prompted fury from supporters
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that he has no thoughts of losing his job, with pressure mounting amid a disappointing start to the season.
Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa drew fresh and furious criticism after the Gunners' inactive close-season in the transfer market as, despite Olivier Giroud's early strike, a double from Christian Benteke was compounded by Laurent Koscielny's dismissal and Antonio Luna's late debut goal, with Arsenal looking shaky in defence throughout.
However, the Frenchman is not giving his future any thought, highlighting his longevity with the Gunners and the loyalty that he has shown during his near-17-year spell with the club.
TRANSFER TALK
"We live in a media world and everybody has opinions that are definite and I have to live with that," Wenger told the press.
"In 16 years, I've shown my loyalty to this club. My worry is to do well. That's the only worry.
"As long as I'm here, I want to do well. I'm absolutely hugely disappointed because we've come out of a 10-game run in the last season without any defeat and we start the new season with a defeat at home.
"It's a massive blow and that's why the solution is not to sit here and say: 'Yes we'll buy and keep you happy'.
"What is important for us is to win football games with the players who are on the pitch and continue with what we did last year at the end of the season. When you have the ambition that we have, it's difficult to accept that you lose the first game at home."
http://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/4067/england/2013/08/18/4195154/wenger-shrugs-off-arsenal-sack-talk
He just doesn't realise how unconvincing we were at times during our winning streak at the tail end of last season. Scrapping 1 - 0's and praying for no screwups. It's not a recipe for success.

i think losing the cl qualifier may tip it. the whole reason people defend arsene is the fact he bundles over into 4th. the board blabber on about how great that achievement is. well losing it takes all that away and cranks up the pressure on him.

Nah, the cunts have already said they can handle a season out of the CL. Why would they even say it if they didn't know in advance this club is on the way down? They have money coming out of their ears and all the financials are heading up. They have their ideal man in the job. Hitting them in the wallet is the only thing that will get their attention, they don't care about the football stuff.

I've done my bit. I've unsubscribed from Sky Sports and not renewed my season ticket.
I had planned to become a red member and go to games occasionally but balls to it, right now I don't plan to give them a single penny.
FY flew thousands of miles to see the club on Saturday, bought a load of merchandise and a ticket to the game. He's just put another bit of money into the board's coffers. They must be laughing their tits off. And it's not FY's fault. He loves the club and because of where he lives he rarely gets a chance to see them live, I can completely understand his wanting to do so when he can. Shame on Arsenal. Shame on them for squeezing every last penny out of loyal fans, using and abusing that loyalty to keep their custom, pushing the prices up to the point where people are having to make real choices and sacrifices in order to keep going. And they throw it back in their faces by not spending a single penny all summer.

BSM's letter to Gazidis, no use really, he'll chuck it in the bin:
Dear Ivan,
We write to you as Arsenal’s largest and fastest growing supporters’ group, to convey our deep concern at the current state of our team going into the new season.
In early June, around season ticket renewal time, you were widely quoted following your Q&A event where you spoke about the club’s new financial firepower and ambition moving forward. Many fans saw this as the club finally about to break free from the shackles of moving stadium; new commercial deals were coming into place, we had a vast amount of cash available in the bank, profit from the Queensland Road property project was secured, the vast increase in TV revenue was about to land on our doorstep, and after treading water since moving from Highbury it seemed as if we were finally going to push on.
What has happened since then is nothing short of a disgrace.
There have been noises coming out of the club over the summer that the market was slow, that other clubs weren’t doing much, and that things take time if you’re after top quality players. We feel all of these were poor excuses, designed to deflect focus away from our shortcomings.
The only positive of the summer has been the release of many players who were generally considered ‘dead wood’ – and naturally this frees up more cash for investment in the team. But with the departure of these players, virtually no movement has come in the opposite direction and we’re now left with a squad severely lacking in depth and experience. Indeed, the squad registered for the Champions League in the last week had to be padded out with kids.
As a group we have been concerned for some time that the Board running our club has lost sight of the raison d'être i.e. we are Arsenal Football Club; not a business purely focused on posting profits year after year.
You will have seen the results of our end of season survey, which came out in favour of Arsene Wenger but with 70% stating that he has too much control over transfer negotiations and setting of wage levels at the club. The same survey revealed that 87% of fans feel the current Board of Arsenal is out of touch with the feeling among fans, and that 73% feel less valued by the club since we moved stadium.
It is our view as a group that the Board of Arsenal is too relaxed about the competitiveness of our team, and that as long as a top four place is secured, it is a case of ‘job done’. This should never be the case but despite hearing you say you’re not happy every time we end a season with nothing to really cheer about, nothing changes.
So in June following your statement of intent, fans were rightly hopeful but what has happened since then? Yet again we’ve spent the summer dithering while others around us have strengthened, and once more we start the season playing catch-up. With five competitive matches due before the transfer window closes, there is every chance that our season could be dealt a hammer blow before we’ve had a chance to take stock, and this weekend’s defeat at home to Aston Villa should act as a huge wake-up call.
We are now in a situation where we’re faced with a carbon copy of 2011, where it took an 8-2 humiliation at Manchester United to force a ‘trolley dash’ on the final day of the transfer window. Of course by then it was too late. For Arsenal to be in that situation once is unacceptable; for it to happen twice in three years will be unforgivable.
It is imperative that the Board of Arsenal does its job and manages the Manager – an employee of the club you are supposed to be running. What are Arsene Wenger's targets / KPIs set by the Board every year? Is the he not even answerable to the Board, with free rein to do as he pleases as long as he helps the business achieve a profit? Is he having to do all the running himself when it comes to transfers or if support is there, is he taking it? Clarity is required here because something clearly isn't right at the club when it comes to the acquisition of new players.
You put all the focus on the Arsene Wenger yourself at that Q&A session in June, but to fans there is little evidence of questions being asked of him; this despite approaching the end of the transfer window with no sign of needed, established quality coming in. Does the Board feel that it’s been a good summer? Because we’ve now lost our opening game of the season, our squad is already blitzed by injury, once more today there were fans coming to blows in the stands. As a Board member, does this even bother you?
Of course if we used the funds we do have available, brought in top quality players and competed for prizes, in would come better commercial deals, you wouldn’t have as much trouble trying to get corporate punters back into the stadium, and naturally the more successful we are it becomes easier to attract better players. Or is the Board too short-sighted to realise this?
A competitive team isn’t one which scrapes the position of 4th best team in the league on the final day of the season and gets dumped out of domestic cup competitions by lower league opposition; you need to realise that most fans are aware of this fact. They’re not duped by finishing in a position which may result in us playing in the Champions League. So what, if the cash from that competition is simply banked and never sees the light of day?
It should be noted that as long term fans of The Arsenal we’ve seen plenty of lean times and poor teams over the years. Silverware isn’t the be all and end all; we follow this club out of pure love and will always do so. However, loyal matchgoing fans continue to walk away from Emirates Stadium, unwilling to part with their hard-earned cash when they feel let down and lied to by our Board. We pay the highest ticket prices in football after being sold a dream, but it’s always a case of ‘jam tomorrow’ and many have seen through the spin.
Enough is enough.
If the Board is actually intent on making Arsenal a successful force in football once again, changes have to be made. Arsene Wenger should have experienced, qualified support to help bring in top quality players, and he needs to be managed effectively if the right business isn't being done.
Or if the Board is simply intent on milking the Arsenal brand for all its worth to the detriment of the team (but to the benefit of our bank account), season ticket prices at Emirates Stadium should be reduced accordingly. Our loyal fans should no longer have to bear the burden after doing so for many years.
Make no mistake, if there is not significant improvement in our playing squad over the next couple of weeks, the rapidly growing anger in the stands will become difficult to overturn. There hasn't been a poisonous atmosphere like this at Arsenal for over 30 years and the Board has simply stood by, while things have gone from bad to worse. I am sure you appreciate, this can no longer happen.
We look forward to your response in due course.
Yours faithfully,
Where Has Our Arsenal Gone (the Black Scarf Movement)

Err can i just say that I told you lot we were up shit creek with this manager. 6 years ago. I take no satisfaction from this but in truth the signs were there as far back as the nearly season of 2008. Even Mark Hughes or Steve Bruce would have won the league that year. instead we ended up where we usually end up.

Some video, had a fan and he made such a valid point,
For the transfer window, why the fuck have the board given themselves a September 2 deadline, when they should have had an internal deadline (if they were serious) before pre-season. Look at the Spuds, they got all their signings done early.
It's too late now. £70m isn't enough to fix the problems that are at the club now.

Whats the point of getting into the CL? We may get through the group stages, but it would be a scrape, at best. Then go out straight away, with a load of injured players. After that a sweat to get in the CL again. sod it, lets just go out of it, concentrate on getting 4th.......oh wait, we are stuck in a shitty circle of 4th place desperation. They are likely to take as much note of that as i do of statements from Orange that get posted to me....envelope not even opened straight in the bin (well shredder since the media starting scaring people shitless about identity theft)
We will be the first club in the modern game without fans....not that i don't think Wenger cares about us i think he just resents us deeply he blamed us for him selling Gervinho and i think he views us as both fickle and ungrateful.
As for the board i think we all know the contempt that Hill Wood held us all in, and i doubt "Blue Chips" Keswick probably holds us in any higher esteem.
These people despise us and when they feel they need to communicate with us they use that Saffa nitwit Gazidis as their message boy.

Probably a more likely occurence if someone like Usmanov bought the club and i fear that the cretins on the board are playing into his grubby hands....comes from a country whose leaders trample on free speech and freedom of expression as routinely as we breathe air

Well it will end the argument one way or the other at least...if another manager comes in and it's business as usual with lack of meaningful investment than we know it was the board. But i'd still have no sympathy for AW because even if it was the Boards intention not to spend money simply by remaining at the club as long as he has he has shown himself to be a willing participant.

No I don't have any sympathy left for Wenger either, not after he walked into this season with his eyes shut against all the realities and inevitabilities that were looming. But whatever happened to the buck stopping with the guy at the top? It was a myth anyway I suppose as it was a US president who coined the term and we all know how they love the notion of personal responsibility. But it would be nice to see the grubby bastards in the suits who are most detached from the club yet do great harm to it having to stand up. They should all be going as this is a disaster (obviously in sporting terms and not in real world terms), they are shockingly incompetent and the proof is there to see.

I'm pretty damn sure that's their plan. Usmanov has already showed a willingness to pay above the share price. Kroenke comes in, strips the assets, banks the cash from the undervalued commercial deals, takes advantage of increased TV cash plus any Euro money Wenger can tag on, paying down the debt is on auto-pilot anyway as is the increase in resulting asset value. Then present the final product to the fat murdering gangster with audited evidence the tangibles are up as opposed to intangibles like the team. Take the money and let the Russian deal with the mess on the pitch.
But the team might be collapsing a little faster than they anticipated.

There is a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" argument but ffs we have £70m sitting in the bank, I've heard we've actually got plenty more than that.
We don't need a sugar-daddy to spend big, we need a manager and board who want to and are competent in transfer negotiations.
We need a manager and board genuinely interested in being successful, we have neither they're pretty much content with just watching profits come in and settling for 4th place.
Wenger wouldn't have got away with this at any other top club because at some point in the last 8 years the owner/board would have demanded an improvement and some sort of silverware.

Nothing to do with results. If people keep paying money for tickets and merchandise they're laughing.

At the end of the day there is little reason for arguments and friction as we all share common views...that the board and Wenger are fooking useless.
On 606 I think I heard them say Arsenal have cash reserves of 150m odd, while the rest on the league has a combined reserve of £180m odd.
We didnt need to leave it this late, we didnt need to leave it till this transfer window. When RVP was kicking off we could have acted, when Fabregas was kicking off we could have acted. Even if the cash wasnt there (it was) we could have done what many sensible types do and remorgaged the stadium for a vital lump sum instead of boasting about how easily we are meeting repayments. We could have made some sensible forward purchases just this january (sturridge 12m, balotelli 21m? coutinho 8m) but now prices have gone through the roof where any strikers who can tie his laces cost 30m+ We have no special players, no flair. The chickens are coming home to roost, and I cant wait to see how these executive idiots get us out of this situation now.

You say that but I wonder if they give a damn or have the competency to determine what's good PR and what's not? I suppose PHW going has given everyone a break but if you look at what's been coming out of the club this summer it almost looks like a campaign designed to ruin the standing of the club. You think worst case scenario with this lot and that's what they deliver.

Good to see referee's performances being scrutinised maybe this will be a wake up call for them.
Having seen the replay's on MOTD though, the 2nd penalty was probably a penalty, they showed Koscielny's trailing leg caught the Villa player's 2nd leg before he touched the ball.

Wish the FA would have read this report on him a year ago before letting him ref an arsenal game... A year ago, 50%+ of his red/yellow/penalty decisions were wrong, he have a tendency to be against the home teams and he has the worst record against Arsenal. Quite amazing to see a report from last year could be so accurate of the game from 2 days ago. This guys numbers are on pair with refs that normally get demoted to lower leagues.
It wasn't a very good performance but he's been punished for it now.
I agree with the MOTD team on the 2nd, it was tough to spot but probably right in the end, rest of his performance was poor though.
In the end though we were 1-0 up and if we were good enough would/should have won comfortably, only an awful summer in the transfer market cost us the victory, let's face it we all knew we'd have injuries at the start of the campaign (we always do) except for the person that matters it seems.

Whole thing stinks of gambling syndicates. Doubt any ref is biased for one team in the same way Riley was for Utd, it will be more down to which result pays out the most. Arsenal vs Villa would be a great game to influence for several reasons and there's no doubt that ref was on the take. Not in the big decisions (he was just semi-competent there), but in the small stuff that can tip a game over the 90 minutes. As it turns out they needn't have bothered because we were shit anyway.

Only interesting thing from the Tim Payton interview that wasn't David Cameron style PR bollocks to try and paint the AST as effective and on the ball was the revelation that, our new chairman, "Sir Chips Keswick" is on holiday. Missed the game on Saturday and is still on holiday despite the fallout since then.

Though I do agree with him about not having footballing people on the board and missing the input of Carr, Dein and Fizsman who were more in touch with what was going on the pitch.

To be fair i don't really see what people expect from the AST, this guy getting emotional having a go at Tim Peyton i agree with much of what he was saying but sounds like he has a reputation as being a miserabalist who will complain about something even when the club are doing well (and as John Cross rightly said someone like him is the lifeblood of supporters because we don't want cheerleaders who go along with anything) and i read a lot of the AST statements and you can't really find fault with what he is saying.
And people accuse him of being a "propagandist" for the club because he ask supporters to be patient well to be fair i didn't see a lot wrong with that there is no point in screaming blue murder about the lack of signings in July if there was still a chance signings would have been made by August.
People who go on about David Dein as well, yes i don't think things would be quite as bad as they are now but i still can't help but feel they are crying for the moon, this club has always been tight as long as i have been alive no matter who the manager was.

Maybe the screaming is required to get the club to do anything at all? It's not just that though, people have been saying be patient since June but who really discounted the possibility we'd end up in mid August with nothing? I think any sort of understanding just gets abused and an inch given will rapidly be stretched to a mile.

Finally brought myself to watch MOTD. It didn't make us look as bad as I thought, especially given the result. Similarly, ref was a dick, but not quite as massively so as I thought from reading some reports. Koscielny being sent off was a bit of a joke, as was Walcott's decision not to bother trying to win the ball to stop their counter attack on Villa's third.

I think the possibility was always there that we would be in this situation now even as far back as may/June. Unfortunately patience was the only recourse otherwise questions asked even in July can seem premature. It really doesn't matter how rational the argument is if its presented in an aggressively emotive way it's that much easier to dismiss and make the person asking the question seem like a tin foil hat wearer

I don't know what people are expecting from John Crosd he's a sports journalist not an Arsenal fan and to be fair Wenger is right in that he only has to justify himself to his employers and if they are stupid enough to think he's doing a good job than more fool them but unfortunately they don't have to justify anything other than to their shareholders
