i find it interesting that some call mourinho a genius and great manager for drawing with bayern but call wenger an idiot when he did the same.

Ramires got the ball. His follow through went in to Gotze but you can't stop yourself unless you're some kind of super human

why the fuck are some arsenal fans defending mourinho and ramies? both are horrible cunts.

Irrelevant really. You go in dangerously (though this was only given as a yellow) these kind of things happen.

But it wasn't dangerous.

He got the ball.

Or should we ban tackles altogether?

There will always be some contact. Horrendous decision

Indeed, you dismiss him as a chequebook manager.

Should have been a straight red, never mind a yellow.

Exactly and have done so for years.

Still take him over Wenger as we all would though as we have a chequebook now

Was he in control of his body? You admitted that he wasn't, however this was given as a yellow card offence anyway so it's not like you can be arguing against it being a straight red. Getting the ball doesn't mean you can go in however you want, it was a foul, he had been booked, he received another.

Cripps_orig
30-08-2013, 10:09 PM
Are you in control of your body in any sliding challenge?

There will always be a follow through. No one can stop in mid air. There will be a collision. It's a contact sport.

Had he missed the ball and his foot went in to Gotze in the same way then fair enough but the fact he got the ball, his only intention was getting the ball, he should have stayed on. It was Gotze who wasn't looking at the ball

All the more reason not to send him off.

Stayed on his feet, one footed. Got the ball. Perfect challenge IMO.

The fact his follow through went in to Gotze can't be helped. If Ramires had pulled out of that challenge, he'd rightly get a bollocking.

McNamara That Ghost...
30-08-2013, 10:21 PM
All the more reason not to give a yellow for a challenge that high up somebody's leg? On any criteria of how fouls are judged it qualifies as a yellow at the very least.

If it was the perfect challenge as you say, there would be no recourse on him. And whether it can be helped or not, doesn't matter, go in like that, you take a risk.

The ref had a shocker of a night. Bookings all over the place and not a bad tackle in sight.

I'm not surprised he got this one wrong either.

Any challenge is a risk, slightly wrong and you can hurt yourself and others. This wasn't wrong. Had he come in from the side and got the ball, nothing would be said but players shouldn't need to run in a curve just so they can come in on a side on angle and avoid hurting a player.

ive got an idea. how about i try and tackle you, slightly touch the ball with my leg before stamping down hard on your ankle and lets see wether you claim thats a fair tackle because i got the ball first

He didn't win the ball as part of the tackle, even though that point is largely irrelevant in any case. Coming round the side of a player to what, slide? Well that's mainly clamped down on too but again, what relevance does it have?

Any challenge might be a risk but even moreso if you can't control your legs.

It's happened to me millions of times. I had the worlds biggest motherfucking swollen ankle and know what I did to the guy who did it? Nothing. He checked if I was ok. I said I'm fine and congratulated him on a good tackle.
