Shite performance, great win.

Stuff of champions tbh.

We need players though. Had to play Jack and keep Sagna on the bench despite both being ill cos our squad is weak.

Most importantly, Spuds :haha:

Sloppy passes, Ramsey back to his old self, Rosicky and Cazorla won't play as bad as that again I hope. Missed chances, full backs terrible.

Excellent performance from our two CBs, despite Gibbs and Jenks fucking up time after time. Amazing save from Chesney in the 2nd half too.
Non-performances from Santi, Ramsey, and Theo. Rosicky was terrible.

Credit to Giroud for the goal, great movement and a smart finish.

All in all we scrapped well and deserved the win. We should've scored 4 or 5 but we fucked up too many times (Montreal :haha:)

Graet performance by the boys, not high on quality, by no means, but the effort, the organization off the bal, was outstanding. Ramsey, did a great job in the second just breaking things up, Kos and Merts were solid.

Wenger owes it to this team, to put better quality around them, cause the effort and desire, but the quality is lacking

Arsenal .

Giroud . Excellent all-round performance from the best striker in the League.

Ramsey . Strong and commanding again. Our next captain tbh.

BFG . Brilliant. This is a defender. His brain speed compensates for him being a giant German tank who can literally not move a limb.

Koscielny . Expected excellence.

Szczesny . Apart from some kung-fu against Villa, he's playing like a number one at a top club. And he'll only get better.

Should have been a 4-0 thrashing rather than a nervy 1-0, but it keeps the winning run going and shows the Villa result was an aberration caused by a deplorable referee who's brother tried but failed with similar tactics today.

Wenger does it again.

The quadruple is a formality.

Just need the Montero signing to top it all off.

"It was a competitive game, we both had chances. It really changed in the second half. For them to finish with four full-backs says much about our domination.

"It was great spirit from our players to approach the game in such a courageous way in the second half. To expose Arsenal in that way is a great example for us.

"We don't have time for the players to gel. We played on Thursday and again on Sundays, we don't have enough time at this moment to put the team together."

Great striker's goal from Giroud.

IMO there's very little between Arsenal and Spurs first XI, where Spurs could potentially win over the course of a season is their depth. Their bench was stronger than ours today. Need some signings.

He's becoming clinical, which is the difference between an average striker and a great one. He hasn't been served up countless chances on a plate and missed sitters like last season, so he's improving for sure.

The problem is about depth as he's not going to get the job done in every game we play.

Good to see him getting goals.

First he is sexy, that is always a +1

Second, we don't create so many chances like we used to do few years ago. If he is given as many chances like Adebayour had, he would most like score more goals IMO. :coffee:

Spud fans make me laugh.

Just went out to get some food in my arsenal top and passed a spud on the way. He asked if I was happy with our lucky win in a match they dominated. I told him to go check how many saves each keeper had to make then come back to me. He called me deluded.

Best bit was I said spuds were a one man team and that one man isn't even there anymore. He obviously didn't know Bale had left as he went on about talks might break down. I had to put him straight. Years in the future when his grand kids ask him where he was when Spuds greatest ever player left, he has to say a gooner told him.

We lost. But if you sit back for a moment you will see a lot of positives along with the negatives from that game. I have never ever seen Spurs boss possesion over an Scum team like that. They basically sat back and tried to hit us on the break. Those saying it was good tactics by Wenger are deluded. He never ever plays like that. His team was forced back by our possesion. If I was a gooner fan now I would be worried by that game, they were hanging on for long periods.

Arsène Wenger spoke to the media after Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Here is what he said:

on the result…
It was a very important game for us. It was our fourth game in two weeks and I knew in the last 20 minutes we could suffer a bit physically. But overall it was a convincing win in a very intense game. It was a bit uneven technically, we had moments where we lost some balls that we don't usually [lose], but in the end we hung on. There were aspects to our game that people are not used to seeing from us - that means commitment, desire, defending. Their keeper was their best player, and that shows we had the chances to win really comfortably.

on the team spirit…
I am one of the few who never doubted that. This team has lost one game since March in all competitions. You don't do that with an average spirit.

on Olivier Giroud…
No, you [the press] spent a lot of time in finding another striker for us! Maybe that woke something up in him. I like what he did today, because technically it was good, he had a huge physical presence. He looked to me today that he had a exceptional quality performance of a real centre forward.

on Mathieu Flamini...
I said it was a no-brainer [to sign him], I am just sorry that he did not cost £25 million! Overall his performance was exceptional. He hasn't played since May but his performance was very convincing.

on transfer plans…
I am not against spending money, but I want to add super quality to our squad. Tottenham got a lot of money for Bale, they have to invest it - I understand that. The need is different for us, we need one or two super players and we will try to add that. We have 24 more hours, so maybe we can surprise you. Maybe not - but I am confident.

on other deals delaying his transfer plans…
Yes, because it is a little bit like a domino game. Maybe something will happen in the last 24 hours, maybe not. It is very difficult to predict.

on paying a premium…
I am ready to pay what we can afford, even if it is a bit over the market [value] and as long as it is not crazy. I am not against spending.

on Tottenham's pressure at the end…
We finished with three centre backs because I knew in the last five minutes we would need some heading in the box, and I think Sagna saved two headers in the end. Of course you are worried because you could see the other night when Chelsea defended [against Bayern Munich] and in the last few minutes the ball bounces off someone and it could be 1-1. That is part of the game. We did not have the resources anymore to play and just wanted to defend.

on Tottenham being destabilised by new signings…
You need a bit of timer when you buy many players, that is normal. But the players they have bought are quality, you could see that today. You always need a bit more time when you are buying more than three players.

on Jack Wilshere…
He has a stomach bug, but nothing that will stop him from playing for England.

on if it's the same bug as Sagna had…
Yes. What has happened to us, happened to Tottenham a few years ago.

Cheap dig at spuds at the end there?

just got home. what a day. what a win.

thought the whole team bar walcott were superb. bar his assist, he did fuck all, never made any runs, was lazy and looked like he didnt give a shit. our worst player by a long way.

giroud was a beast, won so many headers, caused so many problems for spurs defence and what a great finish.

the referee was quite frankly, shocking. spurs dived all over the place and he bought it while giving some very questionable free kicks to them.

but today my MOTM was the entire home crowd. never heard the emirates that loud. before teh match, the pubs were rocking, the walk to the ground and outside everyone was singing, and then inside? it never stopped sinigng and the scum fans didnt make a sound.

Next best bit after the win itself is the fact we've transferred our sad "we dominated the possession" line to the spuds. We get 3 points, they get our baggage. Should have been 4-0 to us with a bit more care in the final third. But the spuds had more meaningless possession. I have no problem swapping them the moral cup for the reality trophy.

Innit.

We've spent years losing to ManYoo and consoling ourselves that we 'dominated possession'. You can have as much possession as you like, unless you convert that into meaningful chances it's irrelevant. They dominated possession, we looked like the more dangerous side. And, as a sidenote, we won the game too.

Master Splinter

United LITERALLY did that to us in every game we played.

At least we did used have some meaningful possession which led to chances though. We just missed them.

Their only chance came from a deflected hit-and-hope which came off Koscielny.
