@gaypete good for my fantasy football team if he does.
Against that it looks like bendter has been helping walcott with his finishing. Bit of a technical glitch there

LDG
15-09-2013, 03:34 PM
Walcott is being incredibly lazy at present. He was against Spurs too.

He's not a shit player by any means, but if you don't work as hard as everyone else on the training ground and on the pitch, you get found out.

He's a lazy shit a lot just recently.

Syn
15-09-2013, 04:07 PM
It's not really his job to track back much because its obvious he basically plays as a wide forward, and our left side is used more for build-ups.

It's not about confidence or form or anything like that. Just flip a coin. Heads he scores, tails he misses. Yesterday he had four tails out of four. Happens once every 16 games.

Niall_Quinn
15-09-2013, 04:58 PM
Good analogy, Walcott is a (coin) toss. He's never had consistency in his game and he's long in the tooth to be getting away with such a fundamental flaw. Once every now and then he's outstanding, I'm betting if you trace this back it's because he's playing against a wank full back but don't quote me and blame Cripps if I'm wrong on this. Most of the time you just know everything is going to break down around him because his technique is so poor. Add Jenks to that side of the pitch (Jenks being one of my favourite players for different reasons) and we are very short of quality. It was so noticeable yesterday. Gibbs is a bit hit and miss too. When you see a player like Ozil and the control and composure he has you wonder why other players who have reached the top of the game are the extreme opposite in terms of making the ball do what they want it to do. What does Theo do on the training ground? Does he just sprint up and down the touchline all day? Why is there no noticeable improvement in his technique after all this time?

Nayan
16-09-2013, 08:14 AM
walcott was in the right place and right time to get plenty of shots in on goal (not all on target). Even if his finishing wasnt good, he made those runs and gave the key passer /would be assister something to pass to, and helped pin backthe opposition. That means, by definition, he wasnt lazy and certainly didnt hide. He was just Just crap with his finishing.

LDG
16-09-2013, 08:53 AM

He's doing alright on that count. i.e. being in the right position. And yes, the goals will come.

But I spent most of the 2nd half against the spuds watching what he was doing, and he certainly was hiding. He didn't get back to help out, and he didn't make the runs when his team needed a let out.

He does get lazy, no doubt about it. And my point was more that, if you don't work, then you don't get the rewards. In his case, goals.

Walcott has always played at his best, when he gets up a head of steam. When he works himself up, charges around, and makes things happen. If he's in one of his "shy little theo" moods, where he does that annoying trot / half jog, and doesn't look to get involved unless it's in the final third, then he plays himself out of the game.

That's lazy. IMO.

Nayan
16-09-2013, 10:26 AM
he does need to sort it out indeed.
