Sounds like this move could happen if we agree a loan fee with Chelsea.

Nicely done.

But we still need a striker nonetheless.

At least between him and Sanogo we'll have one good pair of knees.

Should have got him in January.

Better late than never.

Welcome home Ba

And his awesome celebration

Not happy with this - we've had ages to have a list of potential strikers should deals not happen with Higuin, Suarez, Shrek etc. - Why do we think someone who can't get a game for a team where's his main opposition is "Torres" - is good enough for the Arse!!!!

Average at best but a better backup than Sanogo for sure. Assume we'll use Walcott at CF if Giroud gets injured.

Torres is an abramovich buy. Has to play.

Ba has scored wherever he's been

We were only ever going to get a maximum of one world-class, high profile signing and that's obviously Ozil now. Be honest, none of us even expected even one. Wenger has accepted Giroud as our main striker now and we'll see at the end of the season if it's the right decision.

We need cover for Giroud. Best we can hope for until January or next Summer.

Ba might not be everyone's cup of tea but he has got goalscoring ability and he's miles better than Bendtner and Sanogo so this would be a decent bit of business in the short term, provided Giroud doesn't massively flop.

Mourinho wouldn't just help us out. Ba is not very good. There were tonnes of decent strikers on the move this summer.

2 goals in 11 PL starts for Chelsea last season with Hazard, Oscar and Mata putting chances on a plate for him. Koscielny has similar stats.

Not good enough for the top level, tbh.

Scored 19 goals last season.

15 in the league.

More than good enough

I wouldn't have minded a cheeky bid for Chicharito if we wanted to settle for a good 2nd tier striker. Not that United would have sold him to us but you never know.

Would sooner have Ba coming off the bench than Bendtner!

But he somehow manage to score goals at West Ham and Newcastle, he's good not great. He just didn't get a chance to really settle. He'll get goals for us.

Pretty much.

Torres, Shevchenko, Crespo etc all flopped there.

Even Drogba only had a couple of good seasons goal wise. He is rated cos he did it in the big games.

Ba is fine. Time he came home

I think he'd be a decent backup/rotation.

He's not brilliant, but it's not like you have that much to choose from anyway.

Drogba flopped on the goalscoring front in his first season at Chelsea. He only scored 10 goals in the league despite starting most matches. I'm not saying Ba's the next Drogba or anything but he only played a handful of games and lost his confidence. If he can get that confidence back he could do a job for us.

GP

I'm sure he could do a job, it's just a bit disappointing considering who we were linked with.

It is being reported that Demba Ba has passed his medical at Arsenal. Skysports.com, however, is claiming Tottenham could make a late move for the Chelsea striker.

Interesting.

Seems that Ba wants to move to Arsenal. But Chelsea more willing to give him to Tottenham? - that's what I got from that SSN guy anyway.

The player's agent says Chelsea have turned down offers from Spurs and Arsenal for the player to join on loan but have accepted another from an unnamed Premier League club but he will only go to one in European competition.

Sadly for Arsenal, Ba not happening. Chelsea don't want him to join a rival. After signing Ozil, Arsenal are a title tival IMO. #afc #cfc

Title tival?

Best in the world at what you do by far.

Who the fuck do we blame for being stuck with Bendtner though?

You should have made a Bendtner thread in every section of GW.
