You can't just say 'defence aside'.
Although perhaps that's what Rodgers is doing.

OK own up who were saying we should have grabbed him back in August :faint:
Chadli is ridiculous btw. Lovely pass from dembellers at the end but Chadli fluffed it. And then with the incredible dive in stoppage time. What an embarrassment.

Pretty much. If Spurs had a foreign owner and chairman, they would have been hounded out of the country by the media by now. Levy is an absolute clown.

Safe to say Swansea are back now. They should be fine for the rest of the season. Especially if Michu comes back. That was probably worse for them than us losing Walcott and Ramsey at the same time. At least we have goals and creativity from all over the pitch.
Spufs :haha:.
Norwich were desperate to let them back in at the end. Redmond is a greedy shit.

Spuds will be Spuds.
I think Liverpool will push us really close for that 3rd spot though because they've been winning games they'd have lsot last season like today, Fulham last week etc.

Top 4 is done IMO, just a matter of which order it will finish in.

Hope Liverpool finish 4th and get a hard play-off game. Or they get a hard group.
They got a great platform to build upon if they do finish 4th ffs

The problem with Liverpool is that they are showing that you can progress without being a billionaire and with arguably a smaller squad than us. It feels that they are on a more upwards trajectory than arsenal, who have pretty much plateaud for a long time.
I disagree.
While they still play at Anfield, they'll be quite a long way behind.

Perhaps...and its tempting to see them as we were while still at Highbury (a lesser version, obviously). The question becomes whether they will hit a natural ceiling - as we arguably have done. But ATM they are undeniably making progress...
Progress, sure. Their defence is still comically bad, though.
I think our progress this season has been equally impressive.
And if Suarez leaves they take a significant step backwards. It's too early to say, I think.

I have to disagree there. Consistency is never as impressive as a step-change. And Liverpool are back to where they were when Benitez was challenging us - after really losing the plot.
I disagree.
We've seen a step-change at Arsenal this season. Compared to last season it's like night and day.
Like I said, it's too early to say with Liverpool, but our improvement is undoubtedly more likely to continue than theirs.

Liverpool are clearly much better than last season but I think it's a bit too soon to talk about upwards trojectory along with who might have it and who doesn't. It's a big leap from no European football to Champions League football and still maintain the level you were at before being back in it.

They've got much better owners this time who seem to have a clear strategy to get them back to the very top. They're finally moving forward with their stadium upgrade and have signed a raft of new sponsership deals which will have no doubt boosted their income. We're still in a much more comfortably superior position to generate long term success but they're approaching - we can't be complacent about them.
What we really need is for the vultures to start flocking around their star players this summer like they used to do to us every summer so that Rodgers has to perpetually rebuild a team every year which also prevents them from getting consistent CL football which would allow them to build. We've got to get rid of Suarez and Sturridge at the very least this window. Someone like Real going after Rodgers once they inevitably sack Ancelotti for not getting the CL title would also be most welcome as well.

I wouldn't rule out Real flogging Benzema for a Suarez deal . They'll bid crazy money too. Suarez has a release clause, which has been reported as £70m to a non premiership team, so it could happen.
Oh well, if it confirms and starts United's demise, then I'd rather Liverpool do well even though they're cunts in their own right, United are worse.

Hopefully someone at Chelsea was clever enough to stick a buy back clause in Sturridge's contract when they sold him to Liverpool. They're looking for a striker this summer, he'd be someone you'd think they should be looking at. The Matic deal has shown they don't care about paying silly money for ex players.
I've got a bad feeling after spending so much on Donkey Kong last year that Real won't commit so much money this summer to one player. The Barcunts have been embroiled in the Neymar fiasco so I can't envisage them going for him and apart from PSG I can't see anyone else having that sort of money. I actually think unless Suarez kicks up another storm next summer he's more likely to stay at Liverpool than Sturridge is. :(
And I'd honestly would prefer Everton or heck even the scum to get fourth ahead of those two. They're both still massive clubs and still of yet have the name recongition, fanbase and popularity to get back to elite status with sustained CL football. Everton and the scum are no threat to us even with CL footy.

I kinda agree, Liverpool are still a huge club with massive support and this history of sustained success, they've been wishing to get right up there for years and if they do they'll be hard to knock off, players will want to sign for them due to their reputation and they have the potential to win the big competitions (just like they did with the CL), Spurs and Everton don't for me.
I would worry that they are starting to get their act together because they'll most likely spend again in the summer.
I disagree.

That's where I take issue with you. We have seen progress, undoubtedly. We seem more resilient than in past years. But for me our recent difficult patch compared to last year's implosion shows only modest change. Managing not to get beaten by Manure, and winging a win against Liverpool in the FA Cup is the only real difference. And its a modest one.
