1. The Arsenal
2. Hull City Tigers
3. Sheffield United
4. Man City or Wigan Athletic

Ties to be played on weekend of April 12/13 2014 at Wembley Stadium.

Come on Arsenal.

Going to Wembley for a fricken semi-final is pathetic. Not that I begrudge anyone going, but it aint for me. It makes even less sense (in fact no sense whatsoever) if the draw turns up something like Hull v Wigan.

McNamara That Ghost...
09-03-2014, 10:44 AM
Never should have moved from Old Trafford and Villa Park but this is a consequence of how much it cost to reconstruct Wembley - just like how many friendlies England seem to have at Wembley compared to away.

Villa Park always seemed an odd choice to me, given it's not much bigger than Highbury was. Guess it makes sense it being in the middle of the country, but St James' would obviously have been better in terms of capacity.

All irrelevant nowadays since the money making machine went into overdrive.

McNamara That Ghost...
09-03-2014, 10:56 AM
Villa Park also has a great (and big) pitch, along with the location. Wembley is a bog by comparison so hopefully we play in the first semi-final.

We'll obviously have to beat City either way, but I bloody hope we avoid them for the semi.

Just want The Arsenal in an FA Cup final again, and with all due respect to the pub teams left, we ought to be beating them.

True but the thing is, we've gone so long without winning one of these big games we need to change that, failing to do so would signify failure to change the thing we need to change the most.

We've had plenty of chances to succeed over the years and never have.

Niall_Quinn

You aren't getting this at all, are you? They don't rig draws and matches because they support the team. They do it for money. Unless, of course, you genuinely believe there is no corruption in a billion quid industry? Not even you could be that naive. Could you?

So the death run is extended.

Bayern A

Swansea H

Could be even more ridiculous if we pulled off a miracle against Bayern, as the CL quarters are either side of the Everton game.

It makes more sense for them to have us play them in the final then, that's the showpiece event of the cup, they want to have two big teams as a one sided affair isn't a good advert for the tournament seeing as it's streamed across the world.

To be honest the CL is gone whatever Wenger says and by the time we play City we'll most likely be out of the title race and should have 4th place hopefully, so we can rest players against Everton.

Sorry but I think that's absolute rubbish, people prefer to see big games, the big clubs have far more supporters and thus more money will be generated.

Which is why you've seen all the big match ups throughout the draw. A statistically impossible number of derbies, etc. they've already had all their big money spinners. Now for the glamour of the cup.

Sounds about right, the FA need to make up for their financial losses this season as a result of Moyes clown action.

A drunk gooner was telling me in a pub after the Spuds league game this season, about how the FA always made their biggest profits when Manc Utd had successful seasons.
He even talked about the correlation of increased bar takings in London & Essex after Manc wins, & something about Sainsbury & Tescos selling more BBQ stuff in the summer when the Mancs are champions!

The downside of having a large stadium is that the pathetically small Club allocations don't even cover the season ticket base.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that Fabianski wil play in the semi-final maintaining his policy of fielding the No.2 ‘keeper in domestic cup ties. He would not, however, be drawn on who would play should Arsenal reach the final. If Fabianski played it would probably be his last match for the Gunners as, out of contract at the end of the season and 29 next month, he is expected to leave Arsenal to seek regular football elsewhere. Independent (http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/fa-cup-semifinals-arsenal-manager-arsene-wenger-confirms-lukasz-fabianski-will-start-in-goal-against-wigan-athletic-9180278.html)

Team for the semi/final: barring no injuries

Fabianski (played throughout, and has been great when called upon)

Gibbs
BFG
Kosc
Sagna

Arteta
Ramsey ( )

Cazorla
Ozil
Ox

Giroud

I hope it's this team and I don't see any real concern with playing flappy. He's looked really assured this season..... there's a real steely concertedness in his game when called upon.

Time to get that monkey of our back, shove a banana up his anus and kick him into touch.

The FA cup is coming home lads and ladettes, we cannot fuck it up now. Wigan will be a good test for us and i expect them to test us but we cannot lose, pure and simple.

I dont want to think about the consequences because thats just too scary right now.

Fabianski is playing out of his skin to put himself in the shop window. Tbf to him he has stepped up and if he can consistently perform like he has done he deserves to be a first choice keeper somewhere instead of just a reserve. His performance against Liverpool was probably the best I've seen from a GK this season.

Sentimentality aside I do think he has earned himself the right to keep his place. If Chesney hadn't been so consistent this season there would be a good case for Fab to be given a run in the first team.

The "new" Arsenalif you like, wont fuck up a big opportunity like this. Post bayern last season, the team has matures, improved in defense and have the right attitude in most games. I know people will bring up the two cup defeats last season and that highbury semi (my last game at highbury) but i just feel a lot moe confident this time around knowing these guys really want to win something and have the quality and desire to go far. We've beaten 3 very good sides alreasdy this season and also avoided a potential banana skin in Coventry so there's every reason to feel confident.

And as for us getting lucky in the Cup this year, its not our fault we drew Spurs.

I think we definitely have a more mature side than 2011, so there's every reason to feel confident. It would be a disaster and pretty much undo all the progress we've made this year if we didn't win it now. Of course with us you never know what the hell could happen even with the most straight-forward looking tasks, but we've dispatched most of the lesser sides without too much hassle this season so I fancy us to finally end the drought.

The must win of all must wins.

They say that in order for us to go up a level, we need to show consistancy and win a trophy, and this season is the perfect scenario for us. We've come far since that 0-2 win at Bayern and have picked up more points than most and the FA cup would be the springboard for us to push on.

FA cup + 3rd would represent a good season and one we can definitely build on next season.

I don't think we'll mess this one up. The team is experienced and so far we've responded to set backs even if we've had to grind out a results. They'll be up for both games. It's not the biggest trophy in football but Wenger can respond to Jose's 'Specialist in Failure' jab.

Pretty much agree with everybody re: the occassion and the maturity of this team. I don't believe we will mess it up either, I actually have confidence in this team to deliver. This team has experience in pretty much every area, whilst I accept this group has not won yet together, the winning mentality is definitely there given we have the likes of Merts, Ozil, Cazorla etc in the squad.

It really is do or die this time, more so for Arsene and the guys who have been in and around the team since the Birmingham defeat.

I am not expecting it to be a walk in the park, I expect two very tough games but I expect us to win and bring this damn trophy home!

Nervous, but really excited!

I want to win just to shut up the poxy media c**ts more than anything. They will literally have nothing left to say as the 'Arsenal havent won a trophy in x years' just gets continually rammed down our throats. No one has a right to win trophies, especially against clubs on steriods ala Chelski and Man Sheikhi. As fans we just want to be competing, and if we're not doing that its our gripe, not the medias.

Anyone hear Chiles little dig about us being perenial chokers at the end of the highlights programme on Sat. What the fuck have West Brom won you cretin. He doesnt know how lucky he is to have that job. No other industry could someone be paid so much, yet lack so much knowledge and competence. ITV, single handedly making all other broadcasters look vaguely competent.

Anyway, in conclusion, lets just bloody win this!
