Decent performance let down by carelessness in the final third, once again showing it's our forward line that needs a boost in quality. It makes all the difference.
Ox brilliant again.
Defence (apart from Sagna at times) did well. Well done Vermaelen.
Arteta and Podolski had good games too.
More injuries again. Will we have ten outfield players fit for Sunday? If we can get a result against Spurs, then the domestic momentum should continue. Albeit with four senior players still walking come the end of the game.
We were never going to go through, but we held our own tonight. Who injured?

First and foremost, have you ever seen anything like that cunt Robben? He makes Ashley Young look like Aristotle, Gareth Bale look like a monkey. It really is a dismal shame that cunt is allowed on a football field to tarnish the sport like that.
Apart from that diving, cheating miscreant, did you you notice how many of Bayern's players were diving, cheating miscreants? Pep you old scoundrel, Barca is alive and well in Munich.
As for us, in truth second best. Bayern didn't really have to get out of third gear or go all the way to the top board, you always suspected they could up it if we really threatened them. Which we did for about 5 minutes.
Poor shows from Ozil (fucking pointless international friendlies of course) and particularly Giroud who was completely out of his depth on the big stage. He'll always try but being second tier is going to be exposed when you are at the top tier.
On the other hand, Ox magnificent. Great confidence and belief, super positive play, just needs to work a bit on fitness so he can go the whole 90 minutes. Great news for the future though.
The defence was okay, a bit haphazard at times but they held out well against a team who have been battering in the goals - and no wonder because defenders can't go anywhere near the ball when that utter cunt Robben is on the pitch.
Santi careless today, sloppy passing. Same fro Pods although he did put in a good shift covering back. Plus he had a few nasty moments in him which is totally necessary against a team that employs as many dirty and underhand tactics as Bayern. Saw the so-called foul again before he scored. Not in a million, he barely touched the guy. Good goal, great finish.
But in the end we were never winning it. We went too negative in the middle and didn't play our trump cards in the right way. Plenty of injuries forced Wenger's hand but he could have been more positive in how he deployed Ox. Isolating Giroud up top was a complete waste of time and just saw the ball coming back at us over and over again. The only time Bayern looked phased was when the were hit with pace so we should have done that all night. Instead we spent most of it camping in our own half. Too negative when you need a 3 goal margin.
Flappy good at the back again, dif the biz when we needed him to. Shame he's off just as he's starting to mature into a good keeper.

Apperently Wenger dropped a couple of f-bombs on some UEFA officials right after the game. It does suck that we had to play with 10 men in the first game, would've loved to see what would have happend.

Terrible stuff attacking wise in the first half, we couldnt strong 2 passes together but much improved in the 2nd and i was a bit proud of the boys, they gave a lot and really stood up to them after we scored.
Robben, the biggest cheating cunt you'll ever see, he's in a league of his own and refs keep falling for his stricks.
The Ox was a bastard in midfield, everytime he ran at them they either fouled him or put 4 players on him. Pod was good too, and ofocurse the back 5 in general really did well. The msot pleasing apsect was seeing our defense stand up to that kind of pressure again and it bodes well for the future.

I thought we did well yesterday once we settled down. We lacked quality in the final third, with a more clinical mobile finisher who knows what may have happened?
At least we put in maximum effort, can't fault the players for that.
Edited to add: OX was an absolute beast last night, offensively and defensively. I love this boy, he's developing into an absolute gem. He's been our best players since he's returned.

I expected that. A draw is respectable.
For the first time in ages I’ve noticed Wenger getting up from the bench and looking frustrated. He really wants to win this competition. He needs to learn from this season and make changes. Giroud may be efficient for the Premier League, but he’ll get us nowhere for Europe. He needs to address that. We need a stronger bench. Injuries have racked up and I suspect a lot of them are down to fatigue. We also need to be clinical in the group stages to avoid very tough early games. We could have avoided Bayern. Oh well. Maybe next year.

He was picking up form, but to be fair, I'd rather he just take the time off now and rest. First season here has been difficult for him, hopefully Wenger (he'll stay if we win the fa cup) beefs up the front line to make his job in the team easier.
Cazorla has been abit shit out wide, but in the centre he's not that bad.
Decent draw last night, didn't expect us to go through so I'm not really that bothered we went out, I don't think we have enough to win this competition at the moment anyway.
Bayern always looked like they were going through even though they didn't play particularly well for them, after we equalised we needed to throw the kitchen sink at them but we never really had it in us in the end.
and so another CL adventure ends as we expected it to, hopefully we sign a few quality players in the summer so we have a decent chance against these top teams because realistically until we do, last 16 will be our limit.

Don't really agree with him, don't think we have the quality to knock them out, 1st leg we started well but didn't take our chances, second leg we never came close to turning it around despite Bayern not being at their best. He says there's no gap between us and the best teams, can't agree with that at all.
As for the diving, yes Robben does dive but it wasn't the reason they won the tie, Dixon (Arsenal through and through) and the other pundits thought he should have just accepted the fact they were better than us rather than talking about the diving which proved irrelevant to the result. IMO it doesn't reflect well on him when he talks like that, he should just rise above it and talk about the performance.
Oh and Ox is a brilliant player, his workrate, willingness to shoot and skills are something to behold, he should be a regular at the moment he's a real threat for us.
You could see his talent from day one.

I had no illusions we were going to win the thing so let’s just go out, win the FA Cup and finish top 4 and push on next season.

In all walks of life you get scum that cheat the system so they can get an advantage over those who rely purely on their own talents and abilities to achieve. It's easier to cheat than do the hard things it takes to be the best. Robben is small, he may have a pot to wave around and he may get big fancy endorsements and deals from corporations who have no qualms about swimming in the same sewer provided they make their money, but his achievement as a sportsman and a human being is zero. He's the ultimate loser in that respect.
The amount of times he dived over the two legs, with some players you'll see them do that over a whole career. With Robben he can pack it all into 180 minutes. How can Bayern be recognised as a great team when they accept this? And not just from Robben but by several of their players. The difference between a cunt like Robben and Schweinsteiger or Lahm is night and day, I wonder what they think of the cunt in private?

We didn't throw in the towel Champions League wise last night, we didn't even do it with Wumgers ridiculous tactics away to Napoli, we threw away any chance of a decent C.L run back in the Summer when again our manager decided not the buy quality, especially upfront. The way both teams attacked last night showing the massive difference you get when you have quality in all positions - they attacked with pace, midfielders getting beyond our defence, quality passing & movement. Compare that to our balls to Giroud who on the odd occasion where his control doesn't resemble a non-league player, still has nowhere to go because the rest of the team are playing too deep. Only Ox looked good last night but we used him far too dep as a CM when we needed goals.
Anyway, we are what we are - a last 16 team at best ( as proved in recent years ) - so its not worth worrying about a cup we can't win. Need to concentrate on getting 4th again this year & hope that Wumger doesn't fuck us up inthe FA Cup. Then concentrate on the best possible signing in the summer - a manager with ambition who knows what is needed at top level & doesn't shit himself against the bigger clubs.

If this was the first leg it would have been an excellent result but at no point did we really look like putting bayern under pressure. got unusually lucky with the goal as normally any heavy breathing can result in a foul. the frustrating thing was that we had some very good opportunities to create chances but fluffed them by delaying the pass or making the wrong decision, especially in the 2nd half. remember rosicky in the middle with the ox bursting through and instead of sliding the ball between defenders he turned round and passed it backwards thus ending the move.
hope the team learn that we need to win the group, we had a great chance to do that but messed up. basically we are in the top 16 clubs in europe which i dont think is good enough considering the resources we have and the stability we have. but oh well, roll on next season hope we get a hard group like this season made it alot more interesting.

because the rest of the team are playing too deep
That was the key problem. The tactics. Too negative when negative was never, ever going to get us the result we needed except by some sort of blind fluke. Tactics were so much better in the first leg, until Robben's dubious tactics effectively ended the tie. Wenger has been too negative this season. It's good to see the defence tightening up, but it has been done at the expense of the outfield. Then again, start from the back and build from there is not a bad method.

Wenger thought we were good enough to compete with the best and that there's no gap, this worries me because their definitely is. We didn't lose last night but Bayern never got out of 1st gear because they didn't need to as at no stage did we come close to turning it around.
From his interview Wenger thinks we lost due to bad luck when in fact we lost because over two legs they were the better side. I think after going out at the same stage for quite a few seasons now and failing to overcome any of the better sides over two legs, he really needs to consider the fact we're not at their level and that this is the issue, not bad luck.

Perhaps you also need to consider the fact we played most of the first leg with 10 men which effectively ended the tie and removed any real measure of "gaps" and competitiveness. We were all over Bayern at the start of the first leg. To me it seemed we were competing. But Bayern were probably letting us do that, lulling us into a false sense of security while Robben limbered up for his dive.

Yeah we did and yes we started well but we didn't score our chances and noone really knows how it would have ended had we had 11 men, the fact is Chesney made a mistake and unfortunately he got sent off (some deem it harsh others think it was a bit reckless).
It's all very good starting well etc but if you don't score when you get chances you're not going to win, we had the opportunities to go ahead but didn't take them, this more than anything highlights the lack of quality up front.
We competed to an extent, but I think Bayern felt the tie was won and didn't overly extent themselves, after equalising had we been at their level we'd have turned the screw and put them under pressure, don't really think we ever threatened a comeback.
No shame in it but we're below the level of the best sides IMO, that's why we need a few more top quality signings in the summer.

Ox is brilliant no question, however you can't discount Robben's talent, yes he does dive a lot (a lot of players do) however if you look at what he's done in his career and his performances in big games you can't argue about his ability.
I can remember him when he first came to Chelsea and use to beat 4-5 men at a time before lashing home a shot, Van Basten also rated him and RVP as the biggest young talents in Holland when they were young.
Like him or loathe him you can't deny he's talented and a matchwinner.

Ben Johnson was an Olympic gold medallist until the sporting body that takes cheating seriously threw him out in disgrace. Unfortunately the football authorities, the media and (I see) some fans condone cheating and the authorities have made no moves to throw out the cheats. Look at how it's stacked. A goalie comes out and brushes against a striker, down goes the striker, red card and ban for the goalie, penalty for the cheat. A triple punishment. If the ref decides not to give it then he is at liberty to ignore the cheating and more often than not there is no sanction for the cheat. You can't get a bigger endorsement for cheating than that.
There are huge rewards to be gained for cheating, at almost no cost. The ref won't punish you, the authorities won't punish you, the media has to literally see it happen time and time again right under their noses before they'll mention it - unless it is Gerrard, Rooney or Chimpy in which case they resort to ridiculous excuses and apologies on the cheat's behalf.
And Robben is far and away the biggest cheat in the game. Nobody else comes anywhere close. So do I have to acknowledge anything about the cunt beyond this glaring fact? Actually no. Somebody who cheats on this scale deserves no leeway. It is not valid to say (as you are) that okay, he is a huge cheat but he is a good player. What is that supposed to mean, that we brush his cheating under the carpet?
Anyway, hopefully he'll shatter his leg and it will end his career. That way nobody will have to worry about his cheating any more.

10 men/11 men....I'm not sure it would have made a difference. Just looking at the stats over both legs. Not one player managed make over 30 passes in the first leg with 10 men. It was the same for the 2nd leg. Not a single player completed over 30 passes.
I think we got it wrong playing Ox in the middle. With that sort of game we'd have to look to counter from the flanks and exploit the space out wide. Oh well. I didn't see us getting past Bayern this year either way.

when we had 11 v 11 we did match Bayern in both legs to a certain extent. I can't think of very many clear cut chances for them last night, nor can i from the first leg before the penalty incident. While they are clearly the better team, if the ref hadn't bottled sending of boetang in the first leg before the penalty (which he should have done) then the result could have been very different. in both legs the team did well, there is no shame in losing to a side as good as Bayern, but we gave it a good go and there is a slight sense of what might have happened had the ref not bottled that red card.

That was 10 years ago, Wenger didn't like it changed it and doesn't look like he'll ever go back, odd because with that football came his successes. Since he changed it nothing.
Point being, lets not look at second best in terms of aspirations. Lets look at the best, us. Nothing came close in domestic football. Then again, we'd need Bergkamp, Henry, Overmars, Vieria, Petit, Pires... Might be hard to get them. Could cost a few quid these days.

100% dive.
Then concentrate on the best possible signing in the summer - a manager with ambition who knows what is needed at top level & doesn't shit himself against the bigger clubs.
...and the true irony is that Wenger clearly knew that a world class striker was needed to compete with the best teams but again chose to risk it, and yet spunked 42M on a position that we are relatively well stocked in.

dear friends,
now it's clear: during the #ucl match against #FCBayern I suffered a muscle injury in the second minute. I tried to give my best and played until the end of the first half. rest assured that I'll be back even stronger!

Not in the slightest.
How many other players do you hear explaining their performances, then?
Don't know, Ozil gives that kind of update after most games.

Actually he does it after each game and he's always honest about his performance and stays positive (and does it like in 5 different languages).

The long standing undisputed champion of media cunts has weighed in today with the ultimate demonstration of how ludicrous these so-called journalists really are. How they can hilariously hook even themselves on their collective bullshit spin. Worse than Ashton, more deluded than Cross, the most pathetic example to date, and there's a strong chance the bar can't be lowered, this could be it. It's (drum roll), Jeff Powell:
Spare us this embarrassing Wengering, Arsenal and City were well beaten and there's no-one else to blame. Not only Arsenal but also Manchester City are at it again. The poor lambs each lost a football match this midweek but according to them it was anybody’s fault except their own.
You see. They don't even watch the games. They don't know what actually happened. They just gargle the cum their mate just laid and spit it on the page so they can flood the column inch requirement and "nick" a living, while doing terrible harm to the once professional "profession" of journalism. Professional repeaters. The unthinking collective.
Spare us the embarrassing effort at journalism Powell, you have no one else to blame but yourself.
PS. Don't forget to read his gem, "Foreign bodies are harming the health of Engish game" - Yes, the "Engish" game. Where do you start with that one? The tragic irony or the shut case on this guy's attention to the once respected tools of his trade. You know, spelling, grammar, facts, shit like that. Some will say it's not the polish that's important but the racist intent. In a way it's true, Jeff has put great effort into his Little Englander campaign over the last two decades so maybe he can be forgiven for tumbling over himself in his urgency to vomit his latest contribution into existence. There may still be a few peoples out there what is oblivious to the ways of Johnny Foreigner, innit?
And yes Wenger, shut up! Be a good sport like Arjen Robben.
