I was watching it. Had to stop.

I'm usually a fan of Rocks films but this seems a shocker.

Watching Brets DVD now. Stampede wrestling seems so shit

Dynamite Kid seems like a pubber.

As for the Raw top 100 moments, finished it. Not what I expected to be number 1 but it was close.

There were a couple of notable absentees. Who decided on these?

Definitely not!!

As for the Top100 list, the Top50 finishing moves were chosen by "creative staff", so draw your own conclusions on that one

The best finisher is surely the Stone Cold Stunner, that could send a crowd mental.

Tombstone has to be the most dangerous and effective though.

SPOILER ALERT:

The Goon's 'shove outside the ring' was shockingly omitted. As was the 'Mac Stunner' :(

Bret says if he could go back and wrestle one more match against anyone, it would be Curt Henning.

Their match at SummerSlam 91 is still one of the best I've seen

Quite the mix of matches on the 'Finishing Moves' DVD. They clearly and rightly wanted to get as many of the proponents of the moves on there as possible, but this means a lot of mid-2000s RAW tag team contests that are over quite quickly. First time I've seen the NOC 2010 Six Pack Elimination Match, and very good it was. Even knowing the result I marked out at the early Jericho elimination, two and a half years after the fact!

There's a lot of good in that event, although giving Owen - Kid 4 minutes and Lawler - Piper 20 is not one of those things..

Over to you Art:

"How much does this guy weigh?" x 1000

"Who is the guy?Is he a wrestler? He looks like a businessman!"

"Is he a wrestler? He looks like a boxer!" (1-2-3 Kid)

"Double J is a cutie!" (...)

"Great acting!"
"What's the girl over there (Luna Vachon) screaming about?"

"Who's the fella with the American flag?"

"Who's that guy Gorilla" "That's Oscar of Men on A Mission, Art" "Oh, I thought he was coming to take him to the hospital" (?!!)

First three matches of aforementioned DVD in. So far can be summed up in order as 'started slow but was awesome when it got going', 'typically great', and 'why the hell is this Smackdown throwaway on here?'.

UT - HHH 'I' next - first time I will have seen this one!...

That was good stuff. Felt like twice the length it actually was given the long selling spots(30 mins) but in a positive way. It played to both men's strengths at this stage of their career - i.e built around the 'big' signature spots. It isn't the HBK matches, but then it was never going to be. Great ending shot too.

Punk - Cena sure "holds up", as they say. I think it was the absolute best match the latter was capable of having from a pure in-ring perspective (and if that sounds like a back-handed compliment, that's because it is  ) . He at least tried to mix it up a bit this time too - although the less said about that gutwrench powerbomb the better! Punk was Punk - saying more with one five-second facial expression than many do with five years of promos, and of course kicking serious rump workrate-wise. Expertly booked and built too. Plus you get Vinny yelling "cut that music". Blinding.

Rors
13-06-2013, 08:03 PM
Just the one Summerslam 2011 match on here (so I'll have to wait to catch up on Cena - Punk II ), and that's Christian - Orton. Already plenty of pretty good TV matches between them taken in earlier in the set(not counting a ton of other PPV ones throughout the year!), let's see if there's anything left in the tank here.

I don't know how much longer this can go on. Six years we've had of this. Then, I suppose as creative had Cena no-sell being locked in a burning car this time last year, they might as well keep it running until his character cures cancer or something. Even the kiddies are going to start getting tired of this soon enough. Films-pending, they've got to be thinking about turning him heel during/after the Rock match at WM, merchandise or no-merchandise

I posted this 25 months ago. Plus ca change.... ( And I'd forgotten about the burning car no-sell :haha: )

Although the main event got off to a fiery start, things started going south about two minutes in when LT got visibly winded. From then on, Lawrence Taylor spent the entire match doing a single move, a forearm smash. The Greatest Ever debate is always going to be both objective AND subjective. What criteria do you use? If you were basing it on box office takings (as Kevin Nash does, unsurprisingly  ), then you'd have to say Hogan. Of course though, we all know Hogan sucks.....

On a pure wrestling standpoint, then for me there's nary a fag-paper between HBK, Bret, Angle, and He We Do Not Speak Of. Just down from there you've got the likes of Jericho and Eddie. Austin, Rock, UT, and Foley have to be right up there too, although there you are looking at bringing slightly different reasons into it (not that any of them were slouches in the ring when at their best, far from it).

So yeah, Steve Lombardi for me...

Yeah Bryan and Punk are awesome, in terms of ring work they're already up there. I think Cena is great as well and deserves his spot at the top but I just don't like what they've turned him into.

Pound for pound and taking everything into account I think HBK ticks every box you could think of, but of course everything is subjective.

Triple H made the special referee for Cena-Bryan.

Doesn't look like this match will end cleanly then.

Please god don't make this mean we are getting Orton - HHH again. Orton - Cena is as fresh as HBK - Rock compared to that...

I think you're all forgetting Jeff Hardy.

An inspiration to us all..

Also, HHH is doing a lot of good things backstage for the company but it's getting really boring seeing him attach himself to any act that is currently going well.

Cena and Bryan

Brilliant 20 odd minutes that was.

I'm putting it out there that HHH is turning heel at SummerSlam as Randy Orton will cash in after Bryan wins the title.

Punk v Lesnar also looks good.

No idea what the other matches were for SummerSlam.

Read there's supposed to be some sort of long running Vince/HHH storyline that will culminate at WM30.

Yeah I read that although I have no idea who he is tbh.

Odds on Vince using it in a storyline?

I don't think he's done much since Nexus really? Basically a Main Event/Superstars jobber these days. Still, good for him.

I think that's where we're going. Because if there is one thing the world needs more of, it is a Vince - HHH feud....

Summerslam tomorrow..*could* be a bit special.

He's been mainly in the tag team division with Titus O Neil as the Prime Time Players

I'll try and avoid the results of the main events so watching them on Youtube/Dailymotion will be even better.

Lesnar/Punk is now No DQ. Guess they panicked and didn't think they could do a good enough match without it.
