Now they are glorifying the brilliance of time wasting.
It's completely laughable how Mourinho is lauded as this tactical genius. Far as I gather they parked a whole depot of buses and got lucky with a slip from Gerrard.
Genius

I don't really have anything against him parking the bus and what have you, it's his hypocrisy when genuinely lesser teams do it and he complains. It'd be nice, given the resources at his disposal and the squad they already have, that he would be more adventurous but who am I to say that. Not my team. If Chelsea fans get enjoyment from it then fair play.

But yeah, the fawning is a little over the top. They came for a draw, we handed them the win.

He's no tactical genius that's for sure but he's a pretty savvy guy who knows how to be the spoiler.

Sometimes I wish we'd adopt a similar approach against the better sides, it's naive to think you can get the job done by just going out there and playing your natural game. You've got to be able to adapt to any situation.

Of course in Mourinho's case he'll be a negative **** for the sake of it which is the problem.

I don't have a massive problem with him doing it in that game, Liverpool start like a train and you don't want to give them a head start (do you, Arsene? <_<).
But the fawning over him like it's a brilliant tactical masterstroke, give me a break.

Liverpool fans fighting with Chelsea fans after a Chelsea fan apparently spat on the Hillsbourgh memorial.

Wouldn't put it past a Chelsea fan doing that  , but then again, could just be Liverpool fans pissed off

I wish we adopted the same approach too, getting a result against a top team like this has a big impact, all too often we get blown away, without results like these you'll never get your team to believe in can happen.

You only need to look at his record in big games to see he knows what he's doing tactically, it's the second time in the league this season he's undone a team flying who were scoring a hatful and full of confidence, it's no coincidence.

His record speaks for itself, people question his achievements and yet he's consistently delivered and other managers who have been in charge have rarely matched what he's done with them.

It's not, you're right.
And yet for all their resources they're still 3rd favourites for the title because they keep dropping points against teams they should be hammering.
All very well parking the bus and nicking a lucky win against the side who were title favourites, doesn't amount to much unless you do the job over the course of the season though.

It's his 1st season back in charge, rarely do managers come in in their first season and get everything right, there's a period of adjustment, you've given Wenger 10 years and barely questioned him and yet one year in you're questioning someone else.

As I said before from his record it takes a couple seasons for him to get the right team together and get his team as he wants it, I'm not surprised Pellegrini and Mourinho have had a some teething trouble this season, I expected it, that's why it was our best chance of winning the title. Next season it will be tougher for sure.

It's not been a perfect season, but there's signs both City and Chelsea are improving, likewise Liverpool after a few seasons with Rodgers, success isn't instant when you inherit someone else's team use to playing a certain way, there have been some signings but it does take time for them to settle and integrate as well, just like it has with Ozil.

Making stuff up

I'm not questioning anything other than him parking the bus and being the beneficiary of a lucky slip is tactical genius.

It's not making up stuff, overall you've been behind and defended Wenger for a long time, a lot longer than a year.

Very simplistic, he set up his team to absorb pressure and try and catch Liverpool on the break, there was an error, though they almost scored from a corner just before, in addition they won 2-0 in the end. The Gerrard slip was lucky but Chelsea were starting to get on top then as well.

The fact he manages to repeat results like this isn't lucky though, he clearly studies the opposition and looks for weaknesses and them best way to beat them, this method lets you beat surperior teams even those with all the momentum.

I've defended him when I felt he needed defending, I've criticized him when I felt he needed criticizing.
I haven't mindlessly criticized him no matter what he does, neither have I mindlessly defended him.

Your post always lean towards defence of him and your criticisms are very low key IMO, you'll say he shouldn't do this but he does do that, which very much softens the blow of the criticism in the 1st place.

Weird behaviour from an Arsenal fan, I know.

It is considering the manager hasn't won a thing for 9 years and has been making the same mistakes over and over again, you'd think frustration might play a part in there somewhere.

You see this is what gets me the most, not the fact we don't win, the fact there is very little if any progress due to this crazy stubborness the manager seems to have deeply ingrained in him, it's almost as if he has to do the opposite of what everyone thinks to prove a point, except he never manages to prove it.

Besides supporting a club and manager don't always go hand in hand, sometimes the fans aren't happy with the manager and want him out, it's happen at many a club.

The loyalty is with the club, not necessarily with the manager.

I have my frustrations with him which I have expressed. And, for me, this Cup Final is his absolute last chance to deliver a trophy.
But I recognise that there is a huge middle ground between huge success and abject failure. He's not got everything right by a long way but he certainly hasn't got everything wrong.

Noone has said he's got everything wrong, that's clearly not the case, but after 9 years some of us think he should have been more flexible and perhaps tried different things, he might then have got more right than he has.

Other managers have been far more flexible than Wenger and more successful because of it, he's the one that limits his own chances of success.

I think pretty much all of us think that. You do seem to go out of your way to criticise pretty much everything he says or does though. While I am more pro than anti Wenger I don't think I'm anywhere near as extreme in the opposite direction to you.
