As the transfer window nears an end gooners around the world are still waiting for few extra additions in key areas, particularly defensive mid, central defense and in recent days a striker. In the space of one week we have suffered injuries in all three of those areas. I'm hoping that Wenger responds accordingly and realizes that these positions must be filled with worthy suiters for the squad to compete this season, we saw how this team still needs strengthening against the toffees- Alexis is not the striker that this team needs, nor Chambers as the first choice DM but capable backup for three positions, Giroud can do the odd work when required however over the whole season we need a consistent forward that would bring fear into our opponents and healthy competition to our current strikers. Personally I'd be ecstatic if we managed to pull off the deals of either Falcao or Cavani, Khedira or Carvalho, and Manolas. Open your eyes Arsene and get the business done.

An Arsenal fan rejoicing when key players are injured and calls it : " blessing in disguise " ? It is not guaranteed that every time a player will be unavailable a manager will open his chequebook to buy another player . Managing a team is more than that .
Calum Chambers is a very good player and still very young and needs time to adapt .
Alexis can play in the wing likewise in the middle but he is still new in the team : adaptation is also required for him . Giroud is not as worse as people want to make him look like but any solution from inside or outside to share his burden is always welcome .
Remember that any player Arsenal might bring in would need time to adapt before showing his potentials . Patience and support are the best medicines for true fans before they get rewarded .

Rejoicing? Not exactly more like dealing with the reality of common sense. Any gooner that thinks Giroud is going to take us to a title is dreaming, and Arteta as our main anchor man no way- his leadership qualities are unquestionable but quality wise in relation to what this team requires is insufficient. As for chambers and Alexis yes they are new and need time and the former being a greater purchase with the potential to become a great cb in the future but everyone knows that this arsenal team is 2 or 3 players short in the areas I mentioned. Would you play Alexis as striker for the coming weeks or perhaps sanogo or wait maybe even Campbell or Walcott olall these players are secondary solutions not the primary, why not get that world class striker now and give him the time to adapt instead of waiting till the next window opens. When we've had players like Wright, anelka, Henry bergkamp and rvp we shouldn't settle for anything less. And Giroud does not come close to anyone of those players. I must say I commend your faith in this team but we are definitely short of that elusive world class striker.

When you have such a stubborn manager, these things could well be a "blessing in disguise". When we lost 8-2 to Man Utd it was a blessing in disguise because it made the stubborn fool realise we weren't strong enough & he went a bought 3 players. When we lost to Villa last year & he was booed off the pitch it was a blessing in disguise because amazingly, after spending F.A. all summer, the following week he goes & buys a top player for £42 mill. No Gooner wants to lose games or get players injured but if thats what it takes to get our manager to do what he should be doing, then they are indeed a "blessing in disguise". The fact that we will now have to pay well over the odds through desperation & the lateness of the transfer window is down to one man - these are areas that needed strengthening 2/3 years ago.

Great post.
Patience? We gooners had to wait 9 years for a trophy and now that we can compete in the financial department we should not gamble on young or unproven players to take us to the next level, if know anything about our formation and style Walcott and Alexis will always will be plan B. Giroud will be out for 3 months if Wenger doesn't respond accordingly it will be the same old situation as the past- no depth in the required areas, in this case the striker. If we don't get Cavani why not Eto or Remy these guys are realistic purchases that can help with options.
