Didnt he tear his ACL?! I tore my ACL and with just normal rehab and rest, I was able to get back to playing in a year. This dude gets world class treatment and he is still out for the whole season! We shouldve put him down long back.. When is his contract up btw? Or did we offer him a new contract for 100K sometime last year? I mean, we had to have upped his wages to make sure he stays with us!!

How does that comprehensive catalogue of injuries stem from one tackle? It stems from the fact he's a career crock. I wonder when his agent will muster up the nerve to negotiate his next contract with us?

Marc Overmars
29-07-2013, 06:27 PM
To be fair that tackle fucked his entire leg up, it's only because he has access to the best medical care in the world that he habours hopes of playing regularly again. The injury he suffered would probably have retired a semi-pro.

how? because his leg was shattered, most of his weight would have been transfered onto his other leg during rehab causing his body to go out of sync. his body over compensates on one side, and because he isnt in balance, leads to injuries. its not rocket science

the one thing diaby gets in his credit, is that you never hear about him drinking etc like other players. he keeps trying to get fit, working hard and living a quiet life.

i wonder what the rules are on getting rid of injured players? if at end of contract, fair enough obviously but halfway through, is it allowed or could it be unfair dismissal and diaby could take us to court over it?

How could it be unfair dismissal?

He hasn't held up his end of the contract because he's hardly kicked a ball for most of it.
He's also been paid continuously whilst playing inconsistently from day 1 and being out injured.

Also there are laws in place for employers to terminate employment of people on long term sick, nowadays.

Fully agree, no way in any form or shape is Diaby at fault here.

Don't think we can blame the club for not releasing him as well, he has been a new signing for us every transfer window so he has a lot of PR value to the club.

One think I will say is that Wenger doesn't really care about looking like a fool, he comes out with these ridiculous statements "like a new signing" and year after year the player get's injured and he continues to do so (amongst other things), he seems to have no awareness of how ridiculous he sounds with statements like this, it's just plain embarrassing and opens him up to ridicule.

The RvP transfer was pretty close to that. The ultimate would probably be to sell Cazola to Utd, and then on top of that 'refuse' first refusal on Cesc which sees UTD by him for 25mil.

In many ways it was a great game.... for us anyway. Played us off the park for 20 odd minutes and then it was a bit of a see saw from then. Sami's perfect header, Torres at his best smashing one in, Adebayor missing a sitter, nobody snapping Walcott on his run, utter confusion when Gerrard was standing over a penalty seconds later and Babel trying to get in on the act.

Really was a Special Anfield Night.

I'm not really sure what all of the corporate income sources are tbh

The most obvious are the boxes, of which there are 150. To have 25% of them empty would equate to 37 which seems unrealistic. It's feasible though that say 10 are completely empty and we've had to discount other boxes/corporate hospitality tickets.

Bottom line is if you're a company and want to treat your staff to a day out would you hire a box for an Arsenal game? He'll no, you'd hire one at Chelsea. Corporates aren't Arsenal fans so aren't blindly loyal, they go where the entertainment is.

They don't go for the football, they go for the grub and the special feeling of pissing down on the proper fans. As long as we offer the best food and the comfiest seats the corporate side of things will be fine. Few other sites I go on they are moving their corporate stuff away from us as lack of entertainment plus of course of course the club trying to squeeze the boxes for more cash, could well have misjudged that too, I'm on the mailing list been offered boxes at even the big games last season as well...

AST Statement

http://www.arsenaltrust.org/news/latest-news/arsene-wenger-has-much-to-do-to-earn-a-new-contract-at-arsenal

Following discussions this morning, the AST Board has issued the following statement:

"In recent weeks Ivan Gazidis has spoken of the club's intent to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract. The AST believes this is inappropriate. For now the club's entire focus must be on using the remaining days of the transfer window to strengthen the team significantly.

"Ambitious football clubs invest the money they receive from their fans, and sometimes their owners, to make themselves stronger. Arsenal supporters pay some of the highest ticket prices in world football, providing the club with considerable financial resources, but the ambition and ability to use them appear to be missing. The fact that there is money available for squad-strengthening is not disputed. The AST's independent analysis suggests that the amount is somewhere between £70m-£100m.

"For several transfer windows now Arsenal have not used all the resources available to strengthen the team. Arsenal supporters are dismayed by this continued lack of ambition most notably illustrated when the manager describes fourth place as like a trophy. We do not advocate reckless spending for the sake of it; we advocate proper use of all of the available resources for the benefit of the team.

"A decision on whether to offer an extension to the manager's contract which ends in May 2014 should only be taken following the closing of the transfer window and assessment of the team's performances in the weeks ahead. Considerable improvement must be shown for us to be convinced this should happen, and we believe that other senior football appointments must come first.

"There remain important questions about the way player identification, recruitment and remuneration processes are managed at Arsenal. Earlier this summer we presented detailed reports to the club on how it can improve its Boardroom to strengthen our football infrastructure. The failings we highlighted in Arsene Wenger holding far too much power have only been amplified in recent weeks. These must be addressed as a matter of urgency.

"Stan Kroenke does not attend many Arsenal matches nor seem to have the time to devote to the affairs of Arsenal. But it is clear to all that football personnel he is ultimately responsible for are failing. The AST calls on him to appoint an independent expert to conduct a review of all football functions at Arsenal. Clearly the interaction between our scouting, negotiating and player purchasing processes are failing and need urgent improvement".

Well I'd like us to qualify tbh. You can always live in hope that we might sign someone good if we have Champs Lge, however unlikely. It's also the only thing we have over the Spuds.

I still want us to win our games, however much I hate the club.

Same.

Though, I don't hate the club. I just hate the cunts who currently run it.

But they're just custodians. They'll be gone one day.

The club will live on.

You gotta hope.

The club will live on but unless the bubble that is modern football bursts it still won't be the old Arsenal.
Sky promised us a whole new ball game. They delivered.

Pretty much our team for the Fenerbahce match.

A squad like that is shockingly bad.

We need atleast one GK
2-3 defenders
2-3 midfielders
1-2 strikers

What's the reason for Park being here ? Seriously, he's just picking up his wages, and doesn't even have to do anything. He's probably on 25k or something, and the fans are paying for cunts like him being here. Then again, of course he'd sit on his arse for his wage packet, Wenger the cunt never plays him

I dunno, I'm sure Arsenal profited from being cunts back in the day. It's just in this moment in history other clubs like City and Chavs are profiting and we're feeling the pain.

Weren't we bankrolled by some Tory chums after the war? I'm sure we had some unfair advantages like other clubs have today.

Imagine if Chelsea upped sticks and moved next door to us? That's effectively what we did to Tottenham

We even managed to get Big Sol on a free from those lot as we were quite good then, oh and we paid him £100k+ pw. Tottenham having turned down £17m from Man Utd for him the previous summer because he said he was gonna sign a new contract.

We're just not the big fish anymore and instead of us taking advantage of other clubs we're now the ones being taken advantage of.

Still doesn't excuse us from not spending our resources, that's just bizarre at best and a fucking disgrace at worst.

I'm sure football wasn't ever whiter than white but the sheer level of money which has grown exponentially in the last 20 years, the over-commercialisation of the game. It's ruined the game IMO. It's not a sport any more, it's big business.
There's no real connection between the fans and the club or players any more.
There never will be while the club see us as customers and there's always someone willing to wave a bigger cheque at the players.

Yes, we were backed by the Prudential serious fraud organisation and to a much lesser degree by a blood diamond merchant.

The thing with Wenger is he's supposed to be an economist isn't he. So surely he must have realised last summer that with the new TV deal coming in this summer player prices and wages were going to sky rocket?

He also must have known these new sponsorship deals were coming into effect (they don't happen over night) so let's say he knew we'd have £70m this summer.

Wouldn't it therefore have made a lot more sense for him to have spent big last summer (dip into the cash reserves/debt)? We might have even convinced RVP to stay if he'd spent big on Suarez etc.

Last summer we could have got 3-4 top players for £70m, this summer you can get 2 top players for £70m.

I think the bottom line is Wenger has just lost focus. It's understandable with his length of time at the club. We certainly fucked up monumentally last summer, imagine keeping RVP and also spending £70m???

Also what's the situation with Park? I've been reading that he's locked himself in his hotel room and isn't attending training sessions with the team anymore. Quite disappointed in the club if this is the case, it's not really his fault that it's ended up like this for him. We should be providing him with help.

He bossed Denmark around, when Armenia won 4-0 in Denmark and he's good in FM13, we all know FM13 is used by scouts all over the world. + He was topscorer for Shaktar Donetsk, despite being a midfielder.

Mkhitaryan? Yeah he seems to be very highly rated.

Somehow Klopp is very good at picking up talented ACM (cheap or expensive). Sahin, Gotze, Kagawa, Gundogan and now Mkhitaryan. I thought they will struggle a bit this year, but they are pretty solid as if they haven't lost any of those players. :coffee:
