If Chelsea win they would've gone away to Man City, Liverpool, Everton and Man Utd and got results, and be at least 6 points clear of Man City.

Only Man City could've caught them. So unless Liverpool get something I'm calling it. Title race is over. 11 games in. They've been ridiculously prolific. Against all odds though.

Think it's already a forgone conclusion tbh. As I said the other week we've been plunged into the dark days of 04/05. They won't let up.

Definitely seems that way.

I've also had similar thoughts in previous seasons - especially with Scolari's teams that made a flying start. Things can change quickly and IMO Man City have the strongest squad. They're used to tailing by 3-6 points before they wait for things to go their way at the end. But Chelsea are going through the tough games and pulling even further clear. Chelsea don't seem very dependent on specific players - not fabregas, hazard, costa or anyone....so not even sure injuries could derail them.

But I still think this Liverpool game is key. Momentum is important if their unbeaten run is ended, suddenly they're only 3 ahead of Man City. Even if it makes our challenge more difficult with Liverpool competing with us for the CL spots, I want them to win. The league season will be really boring if Chelsea end up Bayerning up the league by 15 points.

Liverpool are in bad form but David Brent has to justify resting Gerrard, Coutinho, Sterling and basically throwing the CL game. After all that Slippy G stuff hopefully they use their victim mentality to make this into a proper cup final. #shankley #jft96 #makeusdream

Despite the money though, at least Mourinho has a plan. He knows exactly the type of player he wants (coincidentally all utter bastards), he knows where on the pitch he needs them and he goes out and gets them. No fuss, no fucking about. And he knows who he doesn't want, who is expendable and he gets rid of them. Granted there are some randomers like Salah bought just to stop them going elsewhere and their squad including loanees is bigger than a small city.

I don't get that sense with most other teams, including ourselves (duh) and you could probably say the same about yourselves. For us it just seems like pictures on a dartboard and half the time we don't even end up with them.

Yep. People can say what they like about Mourinho but the facts are that he improved his team with a - net spend.

Niall_Quinn
08-11-2014, 03:12 PM
Negative net spend? Are you serious? Yes, if measured over one season he's a genius in the transfer market. But then look at his total transfer record and he's spent 1x10^39 billion quid. Easy to have a net spend season when you are getting rid of shit the club has already blown a fortune on. He deserves no credit at all for his transfer record. A monkey could match him given unlimited funds and a string of feeder clubs in which to dump purchases he'll never use.

Getting his pubbers to perform as a team, well I accept that. He's one of the best in the business at organising his thugs and cheats so they can snuff out any football the opposition might try to play. Then he has his battering ram up top to barge it into the net on the break. Sprinkle in reffing decisions that never ever even up and it's a formidable set up. A club with one purpose - to buy success and do it without the slightest trace of style.

He's not a genius but he identified the weaknesses in his team and rectified them.

Sure Chelsea have a headstart in as much as having a very expensively assembled squad but to be fair to Maureen he has organised them and moulded them into a very good team, they have definitely gone up a level this season.

I personally don't think a monkey could match them with unlimited funds, it's what you do with it tha counts and it's about spending it in the RIGHT areas of the team, buying what you need, not what you like.

I hate everything that they stand for too but to say they are thugs and cheats and are anti-football clearly isn't true, they play better football than us FFS!

They're hardly scoring loads and look barely cohesive. Never mind all their big-name attackers being woefully off-form for most of the season.

Chelsea already champions?

"The Premier League title race should be over already. And If Chelsea hadn't conceded late goals against Manchester United and Manchester City it would be. They are the most complete side. They have brought in quality players with a specific purpose in mind, and as a team they can do it physically, they can pass the ball, they can play any way you like.

"They are way ahead of the competition. I've never known a team to have such good odds with the bookmakers to win the Premier League at this early stage of the season. City will have to win 10 games in a row to get anywhere near Chelsea."

If Burnley had scored 60 goals this season, they'd be top. And they should have scored 60 goals. It should be over.

No, he's a manager who can get the most out of pub-teamers and get them promoted but beyond that he always falls short and struggles to threaten the top 15 of the PL. Pulis will replace him soon and then he'll come back up with Ipswich or Wolves next season.
