Don't have an issue with the signing, just that it would appear this seems to have taken priority over 1st team reinforcements.

Waste of time and money. If he was any good he wouldn't have been sold so cheaply and it's very unlikely Wenger will coach this kid into an exceptional talent.

So much effort put into this insignificant transfer. Hope a similar amount of effort now goes into signing players we need.

Typical Arsene, we have a pressing need to add an experienced cb and dm and we spent most of the window chasing a 17 year old who has only made 7 league appearances.

He might be an excellent player in 3-4 years, but if he represents our only business in this window then fans are going to be pissed and rightly so. It'll be ballsy to try and pull any of that, "nobody moves in January", BS for this particular window.

He did sign Kallstrom last year in Jan- a player we didnt need who was injured before we even signed him. Never underestimate how deluded Wenger is! This man continues to surprise... in a bad way!

He won't be anything special in 3-4 years. This is Arsene Wenger. He won't be able to hold Wenger's attention for that long and he'll be shipped out on loan then sold like everyone else that came before him. Just look at Coquelin. Instead of trying to coach this player and bring out the very best in him, Wenger's trying to ship him out. Same goes for Campbell. He has a very short attention span. How the heck has Afobe been sold without even getting a shot in the first team with his goal record?

If Wenger's crazy enough to throw this new kid into the first team (Sanogo, Chambers) we'll soon find out that he's not ready, badly expose the lad and our defence at the same time. Those days of hoping Wenger can turn water into wine are over. He struggles to coach and get the best out of established veterans in the game so lord knows the damage he'll do to these young players. Any knowledge he has to pass on is about as useful as a Windows 95 manual.

Too right, though I wouldn't put it past Arsene, Bielik could well be our only signing.

He's out of the Polish league...how much is he supposed to cost though? How much would Poland's best player cost us if he played for a top Polish team? That price was a good one for the player in the circumstances. He might turn out to be Thiago and he might turn out to be Thomas Eisfeld.......

It's more annoying that it makes main stream news than anything. They should have enough man power to get several targets. The signing is pretty inoffensive / nonevent really.

It makes the news because Arsenal spent money :faint:

I would say it's offensive to supporters that pay as much as they do week/year in week/year out, the highest prices in Europe and then see the club signing some nobody from Poland!

There you have it. The Polish league. Not sure how much he should cost, but we're not the only club with scouts and they'd be able to hold out for a bigger fee if more clubs were interested.

If that's the case we'd never sign another player for the academy.... Doesn't really work taken to its natural conclusion.

Let's just hope we make a few signings for now. We can still have our pound of flesh from Wenger's hind if we don't.....Szczesny's cousin or not.

Because no fucker is buying anyone. So any signing becomes big news. They have to fill their rancid pages with something. No one cares about this kid but it's just another column filled and another media salary fulfilled.

The new boy will be in the squad for City. He'll be on the bench and there is no way he's ready to play.

Admittedly...knowing he's going straight into the first team doesn't help matters. As already said....he can't be anything like ready for this level unless he is Fabregas when he was 15/16 good but Fabregas is still the best 16 year old I've ever seen play.

Niall_Quinn

I wonder how the rest of the squad views a guy with 6 career appearances heading straight into the squad? Not that it's up to them who's in the squad but it gives out a weird message considering Wenger is usually going on about not "killing" players already at the club. Afobe gets canned after doing well on loan, Campbell can't get a sniff, Podolski is gone, Rosicky is only in because everyone else is injured, Coquelin gets called back from a loan because everyone is injured, Jenks is ripping it up at West Ham and here comes a new kid who has made 6 professional appearances in a minor league. He must be amazing. Surely? Or Wenger is having trouble following the plot. One or the other.

He's more of a gambler these days and youth development has gone out the window. He seems more interested in the thrill.

Instead of developing Coquelin, he'd rather jump on to a new project player. This kid was Coquelin some years ago when he was getting thrown into the big games like when he started against Man Utd. He wasn't ready then, he looks almost ready now, but Wenger is jumping ship again. Why?

It's the same with Afobe, Sanogo and Campbell. Same with Vela. We can spend ages getting these sort of players to the club but we spend very little time developing them and just jump ship when they look promising. I don't get it. Some players like Campbell and Afobe make promising signs but Wenger ignores them and buys another young prospect that leap frogs them into the first team.

Sounds like the transfer will be finalised on Monday so Bielik won't be in the squad on Sunday. According to Arseblog, the player himself has said he's not ready for first team football. Wenger has said the signing is a big gamble and will be an expensive failure if it doesn't work out, cheap if it does. I suppose we could have worked that out for ourselves but it's decent of Wenger to confirm it.

I don't understand why we haven't signed our DM and CB yet. It's ridiculous really. Why weren't we ready to go the moment the window opened, having done all the prep beforehand? Why was so much effort expended on this "gamble"? It's ridiculous really.

Joke of a signing, not the kids fault but more the fault of the clown prince of North London. Why are we wasting our time on signing these kids, it didn't work the first time it won't work out this time either.

We've been just awful this season and yet Wenger continues to go after these kind of players with barely a game at senior level in their careers, has there ever been such a stubbiorn, deluded manager in the history of football, I can't think of one.

Apparently our scouts are working very hard to find a decent CB. I thought January was the time the club bought the players the scouts looked at before the window opened? or do we do it differently? scout all throughout January and then not find anyone decent?

Signing this kid though is yet another reminder that the club's priorities are messed up.

We only have one scout, he's only let off "Bob-a-Job" in January as everyone is too skint for rent boys workers so he's free to check out new talent ##
