work permit will not be a big problem as he should satisfy one of the 3 following conditions :
1)Having played 75% of games with his national team : he has nil game .
2) Having cost around or more than 10m . He definitely got this one .
3) Being a special talent . Not sure but Wenger might convince them.

He has 75 % of chances to secure a work permit .

At least , there is a ground to apply a work permit for . If what you saying is true , we can loan him out for two months and recall him back . Nothing is desperate here .
Anyway let's wait and see . But Wenger looks confident on this one .

I read an article Gabriel (Paulista isn't actually his real name, it's a general nickname for someone from Sao Paolo  ) is similar to Koscielny in terms of his pace, anticipation and his aggressive style of defending. Not sure if that's a good thing because Koscielny could never play well with Vermaelen, but lets hope he's closer in ability to the former.

Özim
25-01-2015, 11:27 AM
With Wengers knowledge of the defensive side of the game of football, we can rest easy in the knowledge that this guy is going to be one of the world's top defensive talents.

Özim
25-01-2015, 11:30 AM
On another note, why go after a player who has a "50-50" chance of getting a work permit, seems a bit nonsensical when we could just try and sign someone with non of these issues.

Also disappointed about Campbell if he goes, should have been given a better chance to show what he can do, he'll probably flourish in Spain and end up being worth 25-30 million.

McNamara That Ghost...
25-01-2015, 11:58 AM
Then we'll sell him for £25-30 million (this won't happen though I imagine).

Welcome to Paulista though, seems like a matter of time. I Daresay he makes more sense than signing David Luiz would.

Özim

We'll seel him for 6 million at the end of the season then he'll have a couple good seasons in Spain and be worth a fortune.

Wenget on the imminent arrival of Gabriel Paulista from Valencia:

"He is a defender, can play on the flanks as well, tall, pacy and strong in the challenges. He has a good chance to adapt to English football. I see in him good potential and he can be a good addition to the squad. It could be done before the draw tomorrow."

Chambers left-back, Gabriel right-back, Flamini centre-back and Monreal up front next week.

Master Splinter

I've heard some misgivings about his passing. It's probably in comparison to the players we have or Wenfer's supposed 'style of play', but it shouldn't be too much of a worry when all our other defenders (the occasional rashness of Bellerin aside) usually average 90%+ in the pass completion stats.

I assume it's little bit nit-picking unless he turns out to be worse than Smalling and Sakho.

No more Monreal/Debuchy at CB Yay!!!
Chambers can concentrate on developing as a CB. No more of this RB expierimenting with him. Hes a good lad but with all the will in the world he will never be a good enough FB. Merts Kos, Chambers, Gabriel. Any two on any given day. Tho i wouldnt want a Merts Chambers partnership, if at all possible. This is the slowest combo and Merts doesn't usually impart the leadership a kid like Chambers needs.

Bad report for our youth team however. In 15 years no worthwhile CB has come through there. Maybe not since Adams himself last made the grade. Shit coaches or shit scouts, who knows. Maybe both.

Wenger has a point and allegedly a broadsheet newspaper will use about 600 English words. How many are used in common parlance on a football field minus the abuse to the ref, from the ref, the abuse from crowd, abuse to the crowd and so on...?

100 words?

I think there is probably an issue with effort in speaking English. After all...why speak it if several people around you speak your language anyway....

Arsene Wenger says Gabriel's lack of
English 'a problem' for Arsenal

Arsenal
manager Arsene Wenger says £11m signing Gabriel Paulista's English is "very bad"
and "a problem", but may still give the Brazilian his debut against
Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

The 24-year-old centre-half joined from Spanish club
Villarreal last month. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31029972)

Wenger previously said that Gabriel's poor English could cost his side
goals.

"When you don't speak English and you don't understand 'Come out, come back,
right, left', it is a problem for a defender," Wenger said.

"You need to know the key words. Offside. Referee. Foul."

The Gunners host the Championship leaders in Sunday's fifth-round tie
(kick-off 16:00 GMT).

German defender Per Mertesacker could be rested for the game, with Gabriel
expected to play in his place.

Wenger says the Brazilian has "the physicality and motivation" and "an
opportunity to show that now".

The Frenchman, who managed Japanese club Grampus Eight immediately before
becoming Arsenal boss in 1996, sympathised with Gabriel's communication
difficulties and added that not understanding the local language can actually
have an advantage.

"The players are always under tremendous pressure because everything they do
is analysed by the pundits and the press," Wenger added.

"The modern player has to live with that - resistance to stress has to be
stronger than it was 10 years ago.

"He (Gabriel) will not read the press. He will just focus on his game - that
is one of the advantages.

"When I was in Japan, people could say what they wanted."

Wenger

Given that the general consensus here seems to be that Wenger is a clueless old duffer without an ounce of technical nous, it's probably a good thing if players can't understand a word he is saying.
