Simeone is exactly what we need, someone who can motivate his team, how is tactically great and who does a proper job of managing rather than being glorified scout/economics professor. Beating what people were hailing as the worlds best side over two legs is some feat, especially after going down to 10 men in the 1st leg in the Nou Camp.

Let's bring Griezmann with him whilst we're at it.

It's a pipedream of course as the economics professor will be here till god knows when.

We'll miss the boat with Simeone just like we have done with everyone else who could possibly, just possibly be better than a man who's become irrelevant in the game.

Simeone would fit in perfectly with the Prem, ugly football played by a bunch of scrotes. The only reason I enjoy their victories over Real and Barca is because those guys are an even bigger of scrotes. Would never want him at Arsenal. We don't need beautiful, prestine football but we don't need to become the new Chelsea either.

Your reaction after the first FA Cup win was curiously enthusiastic for a trophy you are now pretending you don't care for.

Your reaction after the first FA Cup win was curiously enthusiastic for a trophy you are now pretending you don't care for.

Trophies are always nice no denying that, but the ones every one want are the PL and CL and personnaly speaking the CL is the one I'd like us to win as having to watch every other English club win it and knowing we've never done so is frustrating.

Here's hoping the new manager can bring us the CL success we crave :good:

Bayern Munich are another side that will resist shooting when a pass can be made.

Side like Atletico are beatable, it just takes patience and being strong in posession as Atletico like with any team that constantly tries to close you down on the ball will tire.

Not sure Bayern have shown enough to suggest they can adapt to play that way, they have panicked a lot on the ball.

Marc Overmars

Seems crazy to suggest it but would Pep have to be considered as somewhat of a failure if he didn't win the CL with Bayern? Their domestic form isn't really a measure of anything these days.

If anything Athletico are very hard to beat, ask Barca and Madrid who are considered the best sides in the world. Dortmund could always be beaten the way they played and did get beaten a few times including by us and to be fair they had a top class bunch of players, Simeone doesn't have the same level of quality.

What Simeone is doing is amazing frankly, every season they are competing, they get into the latter stages of the CL and compete for the league every season against their big spending rivals.

Imagine if he was given money to build a team.

I didn't say they were easy to beat I said they were beatable

Dortmund and Atletico both have a similar problem, both can be worn down as their game relies on high intensity pressure

Dortmund with high pressing, Atletico with closing down and nipping at your heels.

If you play it cagey and withstand the barrage than both are beatable.

Aesthetically I just prefer Dortmund

I think a side can be tough to beat and easy on the eye

His predecessor won it and in fact did the treble, on that basis failure to win it would be failure, they were winning the league at a canter before he arrived.

Thought they were better before he arrived to be honest, his brand of football is something I find pretty dull, much preferred the football they use to play.

On what basis where they better? Well they'd just won the treble and played more exciting/incisive football, he's changed their style to his preferred style now but it's not as quick and penetrative.

Kano
27-04-2016, 10:39 PM
I meant what basis were you talking about in relation to the previous manager, as you phrased it in your first paragraph. I don't mean on what basis were they comparably better before Pep. It makes no sense to say that because the guy beforehand won it and the treble then the next manager has to do the same or he has failed.

While they are not the prettiest side to watch, I'd rather watch their games over ours. We do have occasional games once in a leap year where we look really good but I prefer Athletico over us any day. Which teams would you say play football that is enjoyable? Frankly not many come to my mind currently... if I could be a neutral, I'd say Real, Spurs, City and Dortmund.

AFC Leveller

Simeone would be THE perfect manager for us right now, he would be a MASSIVE signing. However, its extremely unlikely because vinegar wont go and because our board will never get someone like him in.

I'd also like to point out that stopping Bayern isnt the hardest thing to do, we beat them at our ground this season and kept a clean sheet, so last night was nothing new in that sense.

I reckon Atletico will win it this year, they are so organised, work twice as hard as the opoosition and have very good players up front (Griezmann, Torres, Saul etc).

Just saying possession isn't that important, the most exciting football is the counter attacking type with minimal possession.

Nah. Very difficult. Apparently you can have 3 idiots sat in a studio still unable to agree, even with technology. I think the goal line system has shown that tech just isn't up to it. Could never work. Gullit reckons win some, lose some is the best way forward in a multi billion quid sport.

I don't get City's tactics tonight.

Keeping it to within 1 for a fair portion of the match I can understand, but then taking off the (yet again) shite Toure and putting on another striker to help out the isolated Aguero, who may well have been playing at the Etihad, only for Aguero then to drop deep leaving Icthingy just as isolated and keep basically the same shape was just pointless. And then barely going for it at all.

Oh well. Don't fuck it up Atleti. Not last minute anyway. Please.
