Play the 2nd string.

It's looking more likely we are going to do the quadruple this season. Personally I think we have outgrown this league.

Cech is playing bit surprised but it does show that Wenger must want to go further in this competition otherwise Macey would play despite lack of experience.

The most important thing about this is resting all the outfield players that played against Everton.

I would like to see at least 10 changes, preferably 11 with Cech on the bench.

Sanchez should not be anywhere close to the stadium.

Btw who is our 3rd GK? Martinez? I dont understand why we cant play our third string keeper in the CC if Ospina is injured. Or do we even have a 3rd keeper?!!

My starting XI now that we know Cech is playing:

Cech

Debuchy Chambers Per Gibbs

Reine-Adelaide Flamini Ozil

Campbell Walcott Ox

Subs: GK, Gabriel, Le Coq, Giroud, Bellerin, Iwobi

Just looking through our first team, we are royally fucked! Our squads midfield is completely decimated- Ramsey, Wilshere, Arteta, Rosicky. We will not win the title with our squad already stretched thin in October, and we dont buy reinforcements in January.

My team:

Cech
Debuchy
Chambers
Merts
Gibbs
Flamini
Adelaide
Ox
Campbell
Walcott
Giroud

the likes of Jack, Rozza and Arteta would have featured had they been fit so this does stretch us a bit.

Having a look back we have a dreadful record at Hillsborough....they spent eight seasons in the premier league and we won there once. And before that hadn't won there since 1968 in the league (although to be fair they weren't in the division one most of the time)

True. Wenger built him up to be the English Gallas. Versatile and able to play anywhere across the back four.

TBH this team had very little chance of performing against a Championship team with a lot of game time playing together; playing a 'cup final' in front of their home fans and looking for a giant killing. Our players look like they haven't played together before because they haven't. What disappoints me are the tactics - trying to do this intricate possession stuff with players far from on the same wavelength; the shambolic defending, and the performances of the likes of Debuchy; Chambers and Campbell who have shown that they are very far short of the backups they are supposed to be. On this showing, our squad looks very thin.

Yes good point re the counter attacking. Re selection we've already seen 2 first teamers injured in this match. Personally, while momentum is great the comp just isn't important enough to risk Kossy; Nacho; Coq; Santi; Alexis or Ozil. Of their replacements Ox should have been an adequate replacement for Ramsey; Gibbs for Monreal; Debuchy for Bellerin and even Campbell for Alexis. Bottom line is that no matter the quality of player, a massively disrupted team will simply not perform - which is why a lot of giant killi happens in early rounds of the league cup.

The way they are playing, the lack of intensity, the casualness, I don't think they give a fuck. You can lose on one of those nights to a hard fighting underdog, but if what I have seen over the last 20 is the same as what went before (and it sounds like it) then we haven't bothered to turn up.
