Remember when Everton caught Arsenal on the break once about 5 years ago?

It was the only recorded evidence of a team succumbing to the counter-attack.

They have zero attacking threat from open play.

Mourinho has coached the attacking intent out of them.

In this calendar year, I think they've scored about 5 goals from open play. And 4 of those were deflections.

If it's not a pubbed corner routine or a Willian fluke, they offer nothing. It's just that last season, their bus was functioning better, keepers were throwing the ball into their own nets and all the decisions were going their way.

Mourinho claims Leicester's ball boys were "a disgrace to the Premier League" (!!) but he doesn't want this to overshadow Leicester win

:haha:

But for medical staff, the FA, the players, the crowd, the media, the refs, other teams scoring more goals and now the ball boys, Mourinho would have Chelsea top of the league.

It is literally everyone else's fault.

I genuinely think if Wenger had nosedived as badly as Mourinho has here with top 4 chances gone before Christmas and one point above relegation zone, even our conservative board would have taken action and said "Sorry Arsene this isn't working".
The difference is even with pretty pathetic squads Wenger would not have performed this badly, Mourinho doesn't know how to deal with adversity and problems that could have been sorted back in August for him he has allowed to keep going and going where you get the impression that the Chelsea players are deliberately underperforming so that he gets the push.

Fuck him...total charlatan, whatever Wengers shortcomings he would be winning the league at a canter with the players Mourinho has to work with.

Bullshit.
He's never been sacked because he has ALWAYS delivered what the board required of him.
At times that might not have been what the fans wanted but finishing top 4 every single year in the midst of the stadium move and the billionaires running amok shouldn't be underestimated. We've failed in some ways in Wenger under the last 10 years, there should have been a few trophies but we've started to put that right in the last 2 years when the new deals were in place which has allowed us to compete better in the transfer market. Now we need to push on for the bigger prizes.

What can be acheived by keeping him? Hope that these defeats humble him?

As I've explained someone with the disorder he clearly has no concept of humility. There are no depths to which the club could sink that could ever be his fault.

They should have sacked him before the last international break.

They have a decision to make very very soon, because do you get another manager in and give him money to spend in January or keep Mourinho but then do you give him money to spend or not ?

Chelsea can still make the top four but they need a dramatic turnaround in form from every single one of their players, which is something that Mourinho is not capable of getting.

Guus Hiddink is the man they need at the moment, not Capello.

Marc Overmars
15-12-2015, 02:25 PM
I don't really think top 4 is there for them now regardless of what happens with Maureen, as the turnaround would have to be extremely dramatic. The maximum amount of points they can get is 81 and obviously they're not going to win 22 games in a row! A few more dodgy results and they will be below the average tally needed for 4th.

They're finished for this season at least.

Maybe in 2005 or 2006, but right now ...... no way. At least a third of the fanbase are passionate Wenger out "fans" as it is and we're near the top of the table right now. I dread to think how bad things would be if we would be if we were in Chelsea's position.

It's all circumstantial I don't think anyone is that passionate a Wenger out individual, it's all governed by circumstance

When we are doing badly I want him to go, when we are pushing along nicely like we are i don't feel that strongly (although i still think he's a knucklehead for not buying in the summer and leaving us decimated by injury).

But yes I don't think the board would have allowed Wenger to carry on losing nine games from opening sixteen.......but we only ever sink so far under Wenger to that end we are the model of consistency.

The great thing about this hypothetical debate is that it will always stay that way too. Wenger will never demean our club to depths Mourinho currently is because he isn't such a sickening, despicable cunt intent on destroying everything around him to protect himself. He's stubborn, outdated in parts and maddening on many occasions but we'd never be dragged down so low, so far into the season with no glimmer of reprieve. This isn't just a one season 'blip' by Maureen, or even comparable to Klopp last season because Dortmund had their best players swiped away by their rivals and they did not enter into free fall as champions. Chelsea have no excuse whatsoever. This leaves a huge stain on the so called 'heights' reached by their manager over his career that won't be easily forgotten.

Not sure Chelsea have ever faced a crisis like this in their twelve year history.

Personally, I think there is a similarity between Wenger and Mourinho. If Wenger had bombed this season, I still think his past achievements would buy him the time Mourinho is getting.

I think there's pretty much no similarity between them.

No Wenger doesn't go off on a tirade of abuse at other people at the slightest criticism, doesn't try to demean the achievements of others.....has never lost the dressing room and has never had Arsenal 16th after 16 games into the season.

I have a lot of gripes with Wenger, stubbornness, inflexibility, micro managing etc but we all know the only person who has ever accused him of being a tyrant is that ball end Stuart Robson. Yes he relies on his own counsel too much but this isn't a confrontational guy he doesn't create bad relationships with people in fact how many people speak badly of him at all?.

Very few

Guardiola is reportedly not renewing his contract with Bayern and will leave in the summer, with Ancelotti lined up to replace him.

I suppose United, City and Chelsea will all be after him.

Despite the constant Man City links I think Pep has said that the only two clubs in England that he'd ever be interested in managing are us and United. Chelsea really aren't his style tbh ...... more a job for Simeone that. And Julian Laurens (who's got Arsenal connections) thinks that Pep's the only guy that Wenger would step aside for.

I dunno, putting two and two together it wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world to me if Pep was managing us next year especially if we win the league and Wenger wants to go out on a high.

Anyway, emergency board meeting at Chelsea today allegedly. Could finally be the end of Mourinho. John Terry for player manager till the end of the season maybe?

As well you know, we lost R5 with a little auto-piston modulater. We are positive, though he will miss two parsecs.

I told you so.

They really should have sacked him a month ago.

Most facetious. I think you know perfectly well that I was talking about their respective positions. Still - moot point now.
