The league is more competitive and interesting this year, that can only be a good thing. Unless the manager you support had been so cramp he's taken the reigning champions close to the relegation zone and then been sacked.

Ernesto
19-12-2015, 11:17 PM
As far as Mourinho's concerned, isn't there a clue in the job title? As manager, you are to 'manage' people, 'manage' their personalities and egos. He clearly hasn't been able to and he's come off this situation with far more credit than he should.

No doubt we'd behave the same as Chelsea fans if Wenger was sacked due to evident underperforming players. It isn't the first time fans have protested against a famed manager leaving- this is peanuts compared to Clough and Derby County back in 1973. Point is, they'll soon forget about Mourinho and maybe then reactionary feelings of sympathy will make way for a sober realization (particularly if he joins Manchester United as is increasingly likely)

We're almost at the halfway stage - long after the early season bump or luck factor winds down. Leicester are there because they deserve to be and if their training regime is conducive to long term fitness and the medical staff aren't homicidal maniacs then good for them.

Eh?? Don't know what you're on about pal, was just saying a mid/bottom half of the table team leading the PL by 5 points at the moment just shows how sh*t the league is (we already knew this anyway), big teams have been shocking this season tbh.

Loads of players are absolute cocks these days. As manager it's his job to...manage those cocks.
And maybe doing things like sacking your club doctor for doing her job and publicly blaming your players, the ref, anyone but yourself for your failings isn't the best way to go about things.
He's shown repeatedly he can attain short term success - usually with the help of a chequebook and/or an inherited good squad. He's also shown repeatedly he's a very poor bet long term as no-one can stick him for long and then someone else has to come and pick up the pieces.
Toxic.

B) This has nothing to do with Mourinho
C) Mourinho is a top manager, this doesn't change anything
D) Leicester a team bottom at this stage last season, who are at best a mid table team (and that's being kind) are top

It is a good thing, but it still feels like a really poor quality season, there isn't a team that really looks like Championship class, no team that stands out. As much as it's nice to see Leicester there, can't see them maintaining it and I personally like to see a team win the title through good play and championship form rather than picking it up because every other team isn't really playing well.

It was great when we were challenging and Man U were also a top team which made it all the more staisfying when we won, there's none of that this season, the top teams really have been poor.

It's been the same for abour four or five seasons. Utd's last title under Fergie was dull, Chelsea were dull last year, City won it by default (albeit with some more attractive footy)....the only season in recent memory that was more exciting (from a neutral perspective) was when City and Utd were head to head.

Football has drowned in it's own shit for years, and you'll never get the same as with Henry, Bergkamp, Pires et al again, as that kind of thing is an exception to the norm.

I'm also don't think we'll win it, as I'm afraid we'll fall over our feet again as usual....but if we do win it, however it is won, I'll be fucking happy as a kid at Christmas.

It was great that we were successful but the league wasn't that competitive, it was us or them.
I'd rather see a league where a team can win the league one year and finish 10th the next, a league where 5 or 6 teams can credibly win the league each season.
What's boring is when the same 2 teams are up there every year and the whole way football is set up contrives to keep them up there.

tbf, those stats don't highlight the fact Rodgers signed a billion trillion quids worth of crap to get those 12 points. And Klopp is stuck with all that shit and has to make some sort of team out of it until next month at least. We'll know more about Klopp next season when he's had a chance to clear out the Rodgers dross and bring a few players of his own in. Huge job though, so much money spent for so little return. Klopp will have to be brave enough to completely ignore Ashton and Holt etc and turf turds like Lalana out. So you make excuses for Klopp, while damning the rest of the league for being made to look like charlatans by Leicester?

There are enough good players in that squad for Klopp to be doing much better. Never mind not getting the best out of what is still a decent core of players, some of his decisions and reshuffles are as odd as Rodgers'.

I have always been right about Ozil and I'll be right about Klopp too. I can understand ups and downs when the underlying quality is there. Klopp fought Bayern and won, until they bought the team out from under him. He deserves credit for that. Plus he's not a stupid corporate cyborg. He deserves credit for that too. Sure, I like him. If his Liverpool side are playing like that come December 2016 it won't stop me criticising him though. As for Ozil, class the day he joined us, class today and he'll be class tomorrow. I just hate inconsistency in logic and hypocrisy. Which you certainly display at times. I'd expect more of you. Like I did of Ozil.

Nah. Some people watched the games, others read media bullshit and believed it. He didn't start at the level he'd shown at Madrid but he was a mile away from the bullshit the media was vomiting up about him.

It's the Premier League, you won't get afforded much time as a coach/manager.

Mourinho, Klopp, Guardiola, Simeone and Wenger all in the same league would mean somebody would be sacked fairly quickly (if it turns out that way).

With the one smack in your face exception, the guy who has had so much time to do something that fans have grown old waiting.

The point being so long as Wenger is there, it's likely one of the others would be pushed out thus more likely they will get sacked.

Yes, but what has the media got to do with my reasonable assessment of him not performing to the standard of which he is capable of on many, many occasions? There's a world of difference between click-bait trolling and an honest evaluation of a player by a fan who watches most games.

The media is where the "anonymous", "stealing a living", myths originated. Neither were ever true but repeat the lie enough times and some will accept it. Ozil - over 3 chances per game created since the day he arrived. That's why he was brought here and he's delivered.

Stats compared to the "Fabregas is God" (according to the media) season. Even in his first year, nothing at all wrong with Ozil's contribution.

I am making an honest evaluation. The media have only recently been forced to do the same because their position was becoming more ludicrous by the day. Now everybody goes from "Anonymous" Ozil to brilliant Ozil, as if by magic.

He's been in the job a few weeks FFS. It's not even time to start making excuses for him. Rodgers made a horrible mess. Maybe Klopp can fix it, maybe not, but give the guy the chance to get his feet under the desk.

One thing though is that although Klopp could be seen to have been judged on a relatively short time at Liverpool, if you look at his last season at Dortmund he was struggling there too. This time last year they were in the relegation zone and Germany has a really easy league bar munich. Perhaps his flaws are coming out in a harder league. Over the last year of management by Klopp, he has been poor

Kano
22-12-2015, 12:02 PM
As much as I want to laugh at Klopp through petty rivalry, that post is absolute nonsense.

I don't think it was a fluke winning back-to-back titles at Dortmund and reaching the CL Final. Something the team hadn't done in a decade. Dortmund finished 7th by the end of last year, qualified for the Europa League, got to a cup final and salvaged what was a desperate start. Wolfsburg also knocked out Utd a couple of weeks ago - doesn't say much about our league at the moment, especially when none of our teams stand a realistic chance of winning it.

Marc Overmars
22-12-2015, 12:27 PM
Too early to say anything about Klopp, Brendan did leave a fairly average squad lacking in star quality. By the same token, it was a bit silly how it was thought he had reinvented Liverpool after the 2 notable wins over Chelsea and City.

He has the fans on side though and will do for a long time, so I guess that will buy him all the time he needs to get it right.

Of course the titles weren't a fluke, but it was then followed by 2 seasons where they were distant runners up and then last season where they were in the relegation zone as late as Valentine's Day. Yes, they got it together in the end but it was a poor season for them.

It's not fair to judge Klopp yet but some were acting like they were Champions Elect the moment he walked in the door.

Wenger has never had to compete against a team all season at the same level as Bayern have been for the past 4/5 seasons but I think you'd view his efforts diffferently. Absolute nonsense to throw the accusation of 'distant runners up' against them when you all you are doing is basing it on stats, rather than looking at the details of how the league has panned out. It is like saying last night we were lucky to win because City had 20 shots against our 8 at goal, yet look beyond the figure and people will see most of their efforts were pretty tame. Your stance about Wenger gains credibility with explaination behind the facts, instead of looking at 2 trophies in ten seasons. Only a select few teams in the whole of Europe could have got close to Bayern in the league and what Klopp managed to do at Dortmund not just in the league but creating a team to be feared across Europe was an amazing feat, especially when you have your closest rivals tapping up and stealing your best players.

I hope he fails miserably at Liverpool but it's revisionist rubbish to dismiss what he achieved at Dortmund.

Again, just throwing stats out. Did you read my post? Do you know anything of what happened over those two seasons apart from what you've just seen on the internet?
