the lot of them are wankers and nothing makes me smile more than watching pacquiao get put to sleep by marquez last night.

the fans and the world wanted to see floyd vs pacquiao in 2009 after he came off the cotto victory. it would have been a colossal mega fight. but the egotistical snobs on both sides decided to play it the hard way and wait. well we didnt want them to wait. we wanted to see 2 fighters in their prime fight each other, not the sloppy leftovers a few years later.

the politics in boxing stinks and nothing fills me with more delight than knowing they all missed out on a huge pay day. ultimately they should have listened to the fans.

noone wants to see floyd vs pacquiao now. and it definetly wont get made. that makes me happy.

dunno. whats the point?

floyd is the best technician we've seen in the past decade. if pacquiao had trouble dealing with marquez on 4 occasions then he'll have more trouble with floyd who is faster, stronger and more skilled.

who may i also add schooled marquez. although marquez fucked up his conditioning for that fight big time.

pacquiao's coming off 2 straight losses. the hype's done. the door's closed. if anything marquez deserves another shot at floyd.

the silent assassin i call him. never once complained about getting robbed in the pacquiao fights. brilliant humility. and he got his crown last night.

1735: BOXING

Audley Harrison has reversed his recent decision to retire from boxing.

The Olympic gold medallist announced he was quitting the ring on 1 May, but the recent birth of his son has made the 41-year-old change his mind.

"When I made the tough decision to walk away from boxing, I knew it was not going to be easy. As the days past, I knew I would not be able to live with the decision. I wrestled with it for a few weeks, and spoke to everyone from the Boxing Board, to Lennox Lewis, David Haye, my dad, wife and many others…ultimately seeing my son born crystallized my decision," says Harrison.

Exactly. There was a pic on here with Manny's opponents looking battered and bloody.

He had Mayweather on the ropes and corner and couldn't land a single clean shot. Mayweather's defence is something else.

Plus Floyd always lands the cleaner shots and looks dominant whilst having an impenetrable defence. Not many boxers can balance that and they'd lose on the scorecards for being too defensive.

Pacquiao got schooled has to be said, didn't have the skills to beat Mayweather, Mayweather's proven he's the best fighter around once and for all.

Pacquiao's a great fighter but coming out with excuses after being beaten and coming out saying he thought he'd won makes him look ridiculous, he lost he should take it on the chin, everytime he loses he makes excuses, the only time he couldn't was when Marquez knocked him out.

Rubbish. Manny had him on the ropes plenty of times and unleashed a flurry of punches. Couldn't get a clean shot. Weather in range or out of range Manny couldn't hit him but Floyd could hit Manny. Simple.

As much as i wanted Pacquiao to win, i think it's hard to argue anything other than Mayweather dominated him....the last few rounds Manny could barely land a punch, and Mayweather caught him a few times with a couple of good punches. Mayweather also connected and actually threw more punches than Pacquaio, don't get me wrong i think Mayweather is a classless money obssesed women-beater tosser but it was pretty conclusive that he was the better fighter.

I want the find the bastard who told Jamie Foxx he could sing.

He's mult-eye talented, apparently :coffee:

Mayweather proved beyond a shadow he's one of the best technicians of all time, for sure. He's also demonstrated why he'll never be considered among the greats. Ray Leonard could do all the things Mayweather can do (only better), plus he could fight it out (almost as if he was in a boxing match rather than trying to avoid one). Same with Ali. Hagler was a Pacquiao with craft. These guys, to name a few, were much more complete fighters.

Mayweather won the fight easily, but he also robbed the fans. The commentators had to apologise for him stating you had to be a boxer to really appreciate how great the fight was. It wasn't a great fight though, was it? Mainly because Mayweather was too good to allow a fight to occur. At some point you expected him to turn that dominance into aggression. He never did. He didn't need to but you also got the distinct impression he wouldn't have been able to.

If that was the biggest fight of all time then boxing is pretty much dead.

GP
03-05-2015, 01:22 PM
Unfortunately the sport and the scoring system favours the non-fighting.

Only time will tell where and how Mayweather's legacy will hold up. The fact that he's such a great technical fighter means he's carved his own lane. A totally different fighter to all the other greats before him and that's why I think he'll be in that all time great conversation. You get the wars and tear ups in boxing that draws so much attention from the general public, but Mayweather fights just epitomises the 'sweet science'. Fights with intelligence and figures out how to deal with any style of fighter before he enters the ring. if Mayweather had one punch knock out power in both of his hands, the casual watcher would probably appreciate him more.
