You've lost me mate. Did you not think we were coasting?
I am glad we've scored, but it was a travesty we hadnt put this game to bed long before that.
We didn't play for the first 25 minutes of the second half and let them back in the game.
This is how football works. Never a case of always dominating and taking your chances in that time.
That's why there are 90 minutes to play. There are two teams on the pitch after all.
Plenty of time for giroud to miss a few sitters.

Game management is just one of those new Sky buzz-words doing the rounds. There's precisely zero reason to lay off now when we are currently in a goal difference race with the gypos. The reason it went 1-1 is because of the crapy mentality that sees us sit back when we get the advantage.

The reason it went 1-1 is because our finishing was dog poo, but of course in almost no situation should you be looking to see the game out at 1-0 with twenty five minutes left. I just don't think we were doing that.
Of course there are numerous instances I agree we shouldn't do it, but we have already lost three or four players in the last ten-eleven days to injury and when you have a three goal lead with ten minutes left no reason to rest some potentially weary legs.
I think trying to defend it out and sit deep for instance was ridiculous idea when we were 3-2 up at Anfield, but in this case at this point in the season you don't need to be worrying about winning the title on goal difference.

We're just not good at it and it's always a risk when we play that way. Why bother? And I don't mean we should be charging around the place diving in. I mean don't drop off, don't stop the press, do keep looking ahead for the pass, do keep making the runs. They know they aren't going to get any grief from the manager when they take their foot off the pedal. All that happens is he does his little bit handbrake routine on Sky.

It's not a risk when you are playing Sunderland, it's November and you are 3 goals up
Basically at that point their morale was that of a dead child interfered with by a priest, who doesn't know sign to tell anyone what's happened to him.

Yep basically Walcott, Cazorla and Monreal all failed fitness tests to be avaliable for today
Long term who knows. Probably best we don't risk Walcott and Cazorla midweek (Monreal longer he's out for the better) and have them both in the team for Spurs.

I'm not talking about just this game. It's the mentality and the uniformity and predictability of it all. Don't stop playing when you have an advantage. Press it. And by the time we were 4-1 up we weren't playing Sunderland any more, we were playing the gypos.

Wenger has been in the job twenty years, without doubt he's the most conservative manager in the premier league. He's the managerial equivalent of Harold McMillan.
So in terms of a lot of what he does it's frustratingly predictable, substitutions like middle aged bowel movements always done at the same time. The same substitutions etc
The same too conservative instinct
I just don't buy that needing to try and score more at 4-1 up with ten minutes to go in any way lays down a marker to city. As long as they are still level with us on points by winning, they aren't going to give a flying fuck if our goal difference is marginally better at this stage.

I hope you appreciate the irony of you accusing others of over-reacting to a good run and then having a tantrum when we get pegged back with 25 minutes to go in a game.
I don't actually think anyone has over-reacted. Of course people are pleased with the good run we're on and personally I do think we have a squad that can win the league.
Mentality is the key, do we have that sorted out now? Until we actually go and do it that will always be a question mark. Right now though we're in the mix and at this stage of the season that's all you can ask.

Tantrum = 10 years of seeing us throw games away like these. I agree with the rest of your post though. However, my money is on us folding up and dying by March. Unfortunately this makes me not be able to enjoy these 'runs' as much as you or others.

The fact that you don't think any of us think it will probably all go pear shaped at some point is amusing
But might as well enjoy it whilst it lasts.....beating Sunderland isn't an achievement but it was necessary to keep us in contention. If after playing Man United, West Ham, Everton and Man City away from home we are still in contention than better still.
If not than it will be the same old, same old and I'm kind of desensitised to that so shrugs shoulders.

I think we pretty much all think we will probably balls this up at some point but I do think finally, FINALLY we have a squad which can properly challenge.
The fact that Giroud is now mostly on the bench tells you something. Anyway, enjoying it while it lasts. I think that's all I can do for now.

I reckon we've had the squad to win the league for 2, maybe 3 seasons now. Maybe I'm overrating us I don't know, but if we fall short again I don't think it will be because of a lack of depth and quality.
It's all about mentality and application with us.
We probably will cock it up in fairness but you have to enjoy these patches of form though, otherwise what's the point in following a team?

I'd be happy as long as we are in the mix in the PL come April. Sometimes winning and losing comes down to small margins and I will not fault the team for not winning as long as they do their best.
