Tough one this. Everton have been garbage recently but haven't lost a game at home yet.

Mustafi out for three weeks. Rambo also has another hamstring strain.

6 games coming up in the next 28 days, so it doesn't get any easier.

Neverton look so limited and one-paced this season. At least under Martinez they would pose a threat consistently going forward.

Even if Koeman gets them to raise their game for this, it should really be a win. We're away from home, so we should have more space if Everton attack. If it was at The Emirates, I'd fully expect the bus. But at Goodison, they'll surely have to have a go.

1-3.

A cold night match in December oop north? I'm sitting on the fence in terms of this result. Can see us winning, can see them winning- it'll probably be a draw! But don't quote me on that.

Koeman usually does a job on us and will have his team up for this as usual. However we are the form team and should win this if we turn up and perform like we can.

1-2 or 2-2.

Mustafi has been underwhelming, and a Ramsey injury should be cause for celebration.

Really?.....so Ramsey has been good for us this season....and we haven't been more likely to get positive results when he isn't in the side?.

Ramsey's super season three seasons ago was an outlier, he isn't a terrible player but there is an element of Wenger unable to get the best out of him, and an even bigger element in that he does not in anyway fit into our style of play and never has....he is too slow and his first touch is too suspect. Probably a multitude of sides he could play for where he would be performing a lot better than for us.

Not saying Mustafi is a bad player, just i think he hasn't exactly been amazing either. I think with Gabriel playing we are covered in that position until he comes back after xmas so i'm not too worried about him either.

The biggest concern is keeping Ozil and Sanchez fit.

It's fine that you think i'm wrong, because i think most of the opinions you offer (which you don't, you tend to critique others) are flabby nonsense anyway.

Gabriel seems to be more solid and less volatile, long may it continue.

Gabriel has struggled with strong targetman like strikers before (remember he was bullied by a Norwich nobody a few years ago) and I'm not confident having his m deal with Lukaku (Everton will most likely play through Gabby then Kos)

Let's be honest has Mustafi been any better muscling people off the ball, and Gabriel dealt quite well with Lukaku when we played up there in March.....I think Mustafi has a better footballing brain but Gabriel is physically stronger and quicker than Mustafi and i think he offers a better aerial presence so i am not worried about him playing full stop.

What i am worried about is Wenger, in Everton tomorrow and City on Sunday we have two sides who are vulnerable and we should be going for the jugular but Wenger will play safety first especially against City.

Don't get me wrong, I generally think a defender from a different league takes a season or so to fully settle into the premier league so it's not real reflection on Mustafi on the whole. I don't think he's been terrible either, but when we have made a defensive blunder it's generally been him more than Koscielny.

Marc Overmars
12-12-2016, 04:36 PM
Mustafi reminds me of Kos when he first joined. He has a tendency to go charging out and sometimes leaves gaps at the back, I'm sure he'll refine his game like Kos eventually did.

Gabriel is more than capable of slotting in for the Christmas period.

Gabs has definitely looked more mature and maybe the right back adjustment has helped hone his overall skills.

I am happy for either, Gabs or Holding to play. I enjoy any excuse to see Holding play as I think he has the makings of a fine player.

Goonermerree
13-12-2016, 08:55 AM
I don't think we should play Holding in tonight's match, not as a starter. IMO Chambers was ruined by covering injuries and playing out of position too often, he wasn't up to it and his confidence was shot. He's another that I doubt will make it at Arsenal. I hope we bring Holding on as we should, as a young player with potential who needs nurturing.

It has been good but conversely our record against Koeman teams hasn't been that great, even if they aren't doing well.

We got thrashed 4 - 0 by Southampton round about this time last year despite them being on a similar poor run of form at the time as Everton are on right now.

God I hope the same thing doesn't happen again tonight.

This is a momentum thing with Wenger. As soon as the pot starts to boil he rushes in and turns down the heat. It's just so horrifyingly predictable. Now a loss to the gypos and we have that little mountain to climb (which we will) and then we'll be title challengers again for a while.

We need somebody in here to change the type of "football" we are "playing"

Alright I rephrase that it was as good as useless to us

The difference is five or six points behind Chelsea, we played 24 hours previously and had a chance to breathe down their necks

But no again Wenger gets found out as per usual by the same managers

Hughes, Pulis, Mourinho, Koeman they all have his number they know they are guaranteed not to lose when they play his teams at home.

It's embarassing watching it happen time and time again, oh we've got a stronger team this year

Not sure if Webb dismissed it at the end, it must have happened in a split second if he did. Was a pen though. Those are being given up and down the country every week. Webb did spot the absolutely fucking obvious even if you sped the cunting thing up ten times NON-CORNER that led to the first Everton goal though. Linesmen had to be bent to give that.
