So it looks like we'll be in this next season unless we get a huge slice of luck on the weekend.

How would you want us to treat the competition? Personally, I think we should go for it. I reckon our squad is big enough to deal with the schedule.

Something different, isn't it?

We should definitely go for it. Some European silverware would be very nice.

We should definitely try and win it, the fact there's a CL place at the end of it will make it attractive to Wenger, although I reckon with his record in Europe we'll probably blow it like we did last time in the UEFA cup with a better team.

Personally think it will be more enjoyable than the CL, teams are more at our level and I'm bored wirth the same thing happening every season in the CL, it's just not enjoyable if you know what the outcome is.

If wenger is the manager, then I dont care.

If its someone else, I feel that we should do our best.

We'll get Bayern by the Round of 32 stage.

Weirdly excited for it.

It's a change from the usual CL crap which we have zero chance of winning.

I fancy our chances in this coming up against teams like Anderlecht and Celta Vigo. Definitely more our level.

A European trophy would be class :music:

We should try and win it. Don't know why arsenal fans think we are better than it. We've been performing at a Europa league level all season. Watch spurs and Liverpool get smashed in the champions league instead

Go for it... not like we would be sacrificing the league challenge anyway.

LMAO

as for this thread, chill in the qualifying and group stage. If we finish 2nd in our group, so what.

If we get to the quarterfinals, then start playing starters.

Unless a Bayern/Dortmund/PSG drop down next season, we should win this comp, but with Wenger as the manager, won't happen.

I don't think it will be easy. I'd probably feel more confident if we had another manager but I don't trust Wenger to deliver.

I'd still say treat it seriously and try to win it but I won't hold my breath. Best way to avoid the inevitable disappointment.

Wenger is completely useless in Europe and us progressing far in this is not a given.

Could be different with another manager who has some sort of clue in Europe.

Totally agree, not looking likely we'll have a new manager though, so expect us to flop in this competition like Wenger always has done in Europe, he's surely got to go down as the biggest failure in European competition, not sure any other manager has had that many opportunities and still failed to win a trophy. He even messed up the UEFA cup.

Yep, Wenger struggles with both Europe and squad rotation so I don't actually think we are capable of winning the Europa under him.

He failed in the UEFA cup (the equivalent competition) with a team 100 times better than this one, so doesn't bode well for next year if he's in charge.

Pretty much, that team would give this team a thumping, just like Bayern did this season and they didn't even make the semi finals, so it just shows how far we are behind.

Globalgunner

Definitely a better team but as I recall we did make it to the finals where we met the mighty Galatasaray. Lost on pens.

Wenger has lost a cup final to a relegated Birmingham City! I remember the UEFA Cup final as well. We lost that final with Bergkamp, Henry, Overmars, Vieira and Petit playing.

The only team in this years EPL who Wenger would not have managed to a lower position is probably Sunderland. He however would have relegated them by March

I think that team was worse tbf, or maybe on a par.

It'll be Rotation galore if Wenger is still here anyway.

On paper we could be favourites but that will add pressure on us. Wenger's teams always crumble under pressure. We also mess up far too often against teams we should beat for me to expect anything different in the Europa league.

You have to play about 50 games to win the thing.....

Honestly....not team is ever going to win the Europa league and the premier league......not that we're in any shape currently to win the league.
