Arsenal have as much chance of winning the CL this season as they have for the last 10 years.

Kane is geniunely a world class player now, as a pure number 9 he's arguably the best in the business, I'd take him over the likes of Costa, Morata, Auba, Belotti etc.

Was just saying that to a Spurs mate of mine.

Though I think a lot of how well Kane is doing is down to Pochettino ... he hasn't looked as good for England as he has for he scum.

I'd much rather have Pochetinno poached by a Barca or RM tbh ... we can't have him constantly improving Spurs. <_<

On a lower weekly wage than Theo as well. 100k a week as opposed to 140k a week our Theo is getting.

Oddly I was having this conversation today as well, but I was saying he can't be considered world class (whatever that is) until he has proved it against the biggest clubs in Europe, and/or maybe even internationally in a big tournament.

World class criteria is subjective of course, but if you’re that prolific then as a striker what else should you be doing? He seems to score a variety of goals too, from all angles and awkward starting positions. It’s disgusting that Spurs have him but I can appreciate a top striker when I see one. Some players are more polished than others but if the end product is there then you have to at least be close to “world class”.

I really hope Lacazette can be that guy for us, a beast of a striker makes all the difference.

Lukaku has done much the same and for a nothing team like West Brom and he seems to be ridiculed on here half the time. Kane was so abject in the last international tournament I was just absolutely not willing to overstate his powers after that showing. He wasn't the only one but I expected more, particularly as his game isn't based on pace and power mugging off kick and rush premier league players.

Marc Overmars
26-09-2017, 11:14 PM
Better players than Kane have failed with England, there’s just something inherently wrong with them. Plus I think the CL is the gold standard anyway. Kane isn’t there yet (wherever there is) but his peak is to come and he’s pretty much a lock to score 25-30 goals every season.

That criteria is pretty much correct but outside of the likes Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar which players have produced consistently in the big tournaments at both club level and international level?

I personally think Kane is most definitely in the Auba, Lewandowski bracket now, on current form he's better than them. His numbers are ridiculous.

Kane is surprisingly quite mobile, I wrote him off as a flat track bully up until last season, I caught him a couple of times last season and some of his goals he scored were pure counter attacking goals where he outran the defender.

The Real Ronaldo and Henry changed expectation levels for strikers. It seems as though being a deadly predator type striker isn’t enough these days. Certain types of strikers are under appreciated or not being developed at all.

Shows you how a top club operates .... they won't tolerate hammerings regardless of how good the opposition is. One perhaps in exceptional circumstances but no more than that.

We on the other hand, make large away game hammerings a defining feature of our club - most top clubs would have sacked Wenger for the 6 - 0 defeat to Chelsea alone.

As for Ancelotti, he's a good stop gap manager for a year or two. Usually wins you some silverware, mainly a cup competition. When the old goat finally decides to go I wouldn't mind bringing him in if a more long term solutions (Jardim, Simeone, Allegri etc) isn't available.

Edit - Di Maria & Draxler benched for the game. Should be able to pick one of the two up at the end of the season to replace Alexis.

Too right.

What makes it even more comical is that Wenger somehow tried to dress up the 10-2 Bayern CL defeat last season by saying we were ahead over 2 legs over 45 minutes. The fact that he felt the need to even discuss it actually disgusts me, he should be absolutely embarrassed about that tie and that defeat alone would damage any ambitious managers C.V.

Wenger would not go to Bayern now, it would be against his principles and Bayern may not have the correct values, what they are I don't know.

One of the values might be that no player, whoever they are, gets more money than the manager.
