I would really like to see us start 2 up front with Laca and Auba. Play a 4-4-2.

Cech

Bellerin Mustafi Socrates Nacho/AMN

Iwobi Torreira Xhaka Kola

Laca Auba

Subs: Nacho/AMN, Leno, Leichsteiner, ESR, Willock

Couple of things as I did my line up.. Leno needs to sort his shit out. I like him but he has been dire the last couple of game, and we NEED a winger this Jan!

Leno has been fine. Both goals down to terrible defending. We had 9 players in the box for the first one and no one closed down Herrera or stopped his cut back.

Kola in midfield? It will never happen.

And we need a wide forward in the summer. But there are other priorities ahead of that. Wingers don’t exist anymore. That’s how Auba has managed to score so many from his starting position out wide. Same for Laca.

Can imagine the last 2 games would have taken a lot out of us, I just hope we can get ourselves up for this one. Don't want another Wolves-like joke of a performance.

2-0.

Also.....playing Kola as a winger in a 442 will not rid him of his defensive duties.

Can't blame Mark Wahlberg for that one.

Still obsessing over 442 huh!

I am a huge fan of playing two up front. And I am also a huge fan of the most basic formation in football. I definitely think we should at least use it in home games against lower opposition.

Leno was to blame for the first goal against Spurs and his parry away against Utd was pretty bad as well. Plus I dont see a huge step up in his 'playing out of the back' game compared to Cech yet.

I was with you till the playing out the back part. I think Leno is actually as good as any keeper in this league at that part but he is a long way off Cech at coming for the ball. Whether you deem the improvement in passing out the back as a significant gain and worth playing him over Cech is another matter.

With a pretty conservative set-up, it probably means Kolasinac and Bellerin won't even step into their own half.

Sokratis is suspended, Mustafi is on 5 yellows and needs to stay out of trouble.

When will the ‘greatest league in the world’ get professionally trained refs?

I think Emery's experiment backfired there. What should have been a comfortable match has turned into a costly dogfight.

Still enough chances to be leading, but one creative player behind the strikers would have made a difference, you'd think.

When players go down without any contact against us, it's a pelanty or free-kick. When one of our players goes down slightly dramatically after being fouled, it's a yellow for diving. It's ridiculous.

Somehow we have more bookings than them. Tells you everything about this farce of a league.

We now only have one CB, Koscielny, available for the Southampton game. Who hasn't played a minute of proper football so far this season. With all these injuries and suspensions happening at the same time it seems like the Feb/March collapse is trying to come early.

They are professionally trained. When I were a lad referees were amateurs. I remember years ago having an argument with a friend. I said they should be professionals, he said it wouldn’t make them any better. I said of course they would.
He was right. I still don’t understand why but then going professional hasn’t made them any better.
