That was such a slog.

A win is a win.

Saka to share GOAT with Martinelli.

Well done Lacazette, utter shit mainly but pubbing in some goals.

Only saw the second half.
We weren’t great but pretty much controlled it.
Pretty toothless up front but good goal when it came
Fairly confident we will progress.

Arteta has transformed the team defensively and has got the defenders and midfielders doing most of the basics right.

Surprisingly, he seems to be struggling to put a functioning attack together. Maybe just dropping Lacazette would make the difference.

At the moment, the team is completely reliant on Saka and it's no exaggeration.

Thankfully, Saka is incredibly good for his age.

Seemed to go on for 3 days, but we came alive in the last few minutes, made a few chances including one dished up on a plate with garnish and tasting notes which Laca decided was worth scoring.

Saka MOTM again.

:good:

The defensive side of things is a million times better than it was, but I think we’re still very much in a place where all of that work (on shape and structure and positional discipline, etc) is taking a lot of conscious effort on the part of the players - until they get to the point where they can do it instinctively, on autopilot, I’m not sure how quick and free they’re going to be with their attacking thinking.

Unfortunately there’s no short cut to this part of the process - you just have to keep putting in the hours until you master it. We’re very much playing catch-up here after years and years of neglect, and even the 7-8 weeks that we've currently spent on it represents something of an emergency crash-course.

Honestly, I’d brace yourself for more of the same for a little while yet. Maybe we’ll start to see some attacking ideas come together in the final couple of months of the season, but tbh I’m not really expecting to see any grand new attacking identity emerge until some time next season, after Arteta has had a chance to recruit (and bed in) some of his own players.

I think because of the defensive improvement we may have good chance at winning a cup.

Not sure how much better things will get in the league with a flaky attack but let’s hope the Newcastle game was a turning point for that.

Put the leagues top scoring striker at CF might be a decent start.

I meant from last season. Don't be surprised if Vardy doesn't finish there for this one.
