We will have to see won't we.

Can we now get rid of some dead wood please, because there is plenty of it.

Hope he's better than Gabriel the first.

I hope he is better than our all time greatest number 6.

Finally!

Important signing, this. We now have two big, mobile CBs at the club, which means we can play a back 2, which means we can field an extra CM (and hopefully add more control and creativity). It means we can move Tierney to LB. It gives us a left-footed CB who can hit cross-field diagonal balls to the RW so we can release Pepe quicker and earlier (who will also benefit from the extra CM to play off).

Don’t know how quickly we’ll see Gabriel and Saliba as a pairing, but when it happens it unlocks a lot of potential in this side.

Best Gabriel we have ever had, probably.

Don't know anything about him really aside from making a good pass against Chelsea.

Assuming he drops Luiz, which I don't think he'll do. I'm guessing he'll rotate, which is what he tends to favour.

Possibly Gabriel / Luiz and Mari / Saliba pairings for a little while, until the younger guys find their feet? Might be the second half of the season before we get a glimpse of a Gabriel / Saliba pairing, but you can see what the long-term thinking is there. The one year extension for Luiz certainly feels like it might have been agreed with a period of easing and transition in mind?
