Was hoping shifting to a back 4 would see us go for it a bit more. Instead Xhaka just dropped deeper and deeper until it became a back 5 again. Awful stuff and very predictable.

First half I thought we were good. Created a couple of half chances, Lacazette was being...Lacazette though.
Second half...nothing.
And then, as so often, we got done by the one breakaway and decent chance Leicester had.
Even then...no real response.
Our lack of creativity is getting silly now. Hopefully Partey will provide more there when he gets into his stride, honestly didn't notice him today.

Yep. We were very unlucky. Dominated the first half. Lovely silky football. Very unlucky not to be 5 or 6 in front. Then we dropped a bit in the second half and our defenders accidentally left half a mile of space for the opposition to play a simple forward pass, an unopposed cross and a free header. As you say, if only we had an ounce of creativity we might have looked like scoring if the game had gone on for another hundred years. It's something to build on. Progress.

These 2 clowns in the midfield(Xhaka and Ceballos) got me missing the days of Denilson and Song.
What happen to football that central mids can't actually central mid things, madness. Just useless these 2.
And again, AMN proved he is flat out better then Bellerin.
And so far this season Elneny has proven to be more effective then those 2 clowns.
Is he not watching these games, or only focusing on what they do in practice?

Was Tierney injured? Otherwise thats a really bizarre decision to sub him and drop Xhaka in to left back. Probably cost us the goal as I think Tierney would have dealt with the run from their winger.

The football has never been great with Arteta but we’ve managed to get by with being more organised which has given a bit of an illusion of improvement, however the bottom line is that results have mostly been the same mixed bag they were before he arrived. Anyone got his league record? Would like to see it because I’m sure it doesn’t make for particularly good reading.
There have been plenty of narrow wins for us which could have gone the other way and it’s no surprise the games we do lose are also in the same vein. That’s just what happens when you place all your stock in what happens at the back and neglect how you can do some damage in the final third.
I think it’s been evident for some time now what kind of coach Arteta is. Safety first, methodical and basically dull as dishwater. His supporters will say oh this is what Arsenal needed which is true to some extent but results aren’t much better, so it means nothing. He’s not my cup of tea but of course I respect the fact he won the cup playing like this and he may even do the same again this season, but I’m not going to pretend there’s anything enjoyable about watching us play anymore.
Oh well. On to Old Trafford for another sit deep and hoof masterclass. Maybe we can pub something if any of the forwards can be bothered to turn up.

Next week it'll all be different.
Come on, you know that just isn’t true.
There appears to be no reason why Arsenal will improve. Rodgers outhought Arteta. Arsenal had sufficient chances to have put the game to bed by half time. But didn’t.
Quite clear that putting Vardy on would have tested the defence at some point. Said defence just opened up like a whore’s jaw.
I watched the last time Arsenal lost at home to Leicester. It was 1973, 0-2.
Arsenal were shit then, as now. Improve? They might, but I’m not expecting it for a long time.

We can finish 4th with a bit of luck but are we any better than the teams were competing with? Not sure there’s much evidence to provide encouragement there.

Our style of play is so shatteringly negative Auba can't get a look in. I don't think Fat Ronaldo would get a goal in our set up. So I'm not writing him off yet. But it's true, he's dropped about 7 million levels since he signed da ting. He was the only one making us look good, through his own individual efforts.

Right now if Arteta is adamant on playing Dani, Xhaka, and Bellerin. Then he has to drop Lacazette and play Auba in the middle. Cause with those 3 we are not creating chances. And Laca is a guy that needs multiple chances to score.
Now I'm understanding why Wenger didn't play him much

Laca is not the root of all our problems. The games we have played without him have been just as terrible. Eddie cannot play at this level, thats plain as day. The only player that is better than him is Martinelli. What we keep seeing is the same shite that Wenger played for his last 10 years. When the winger goes out to make a cross, be it Saka or Tierney. No one in the middle makes the gamble. If the cross comes in tight, our players will hang back. if the cross is a cutback we are all hogging the penalty box. What do the clown do in training?
This is all down to the dufus we hired as manager. Dull unimaginative player playing dull, unimaginative football. 8CBs at the club and somehow Mustafi still gets a game, Willian comes in and makes absolutely no difference, Same with Partey. its mind boggling

Our play is such a basic level of crap a striker as good as him doesn’t even see the ball. He just has to chase it around like a donkey when it’s played forward and hope he latches onto something.

all true but maybe we do just need to give Partey another game or two ...?
i actually thought he added something to our spine in terms fo beign strong and being able to keep and pass the ball (mostly accurately), what i didn;t see was anythign very creative from him, but it's early days.
however Arteta needs to stop chopping and changing and play Saka, Auba and Pep as a front three for a set of at least five matches to see if they can build an understnading
not sure why everyone's suddenly on ceballos' case either - i don't think he's the issue though i agree he wasn't great yesterday.
but that happens when you're losing faith in the coach and the system

What we are now seeing is a coach who is in the early stages of his career.
I am not going to say Arteta doesn't know what he is doing and I am prepared to give him time but it's on him now.
He brought in 3 very good players this summer who are all legit first XI players who should / have to a certain extent improved the team.
Our performances are still disjointed, and our problem has now moved from being a defensive problem to an offensive one.
I think given the FA Cup win and expectations after our relatively successful transfer window writing off top 4 this season is not an option.

Arteta definitely knows what he’s doing. Rookie he may be but this about as regimented as I’ve ever seen us play. He’s got them doing what he wants, the only difference at the moment is that Auba isn’t pulling goals out of his arse.
We need to start playing through the centre more, without the full backs helping out we don’t have another way of making things happen with any conviction.

or maybe Partey and Elneny with Ceballos in front so he can focus on trying to create chances
given the injuries we have our next starting lineup should perhaps be:
Leno
AMN Saliba Gabriel Tierney
Partey Elneny
Ceballos
Pepe Auba Saka
