A point. A rarity at home I guess.

Chelsea next at home.

Everton away next in the league. :rose:

A bit of light relief to score a proper goal and not lose. Sign of how far we’ve fallen that this is seen as progress.

However the reality is Southampton will probably be gutted they didn’t win the game.

This team will be lucky to finish mid table but as long as they’re doing well in training then we can all be happy with that.

There is no fixing the unfixeable. Now we've lost out on Fat Sam. Woe is us

Felt for Holding. That was a magnificent effort.

Understandably, we played a lot of the time like a team low on confidence. Pepe provided a bit more attacking endeavour, and its good that Aubameyang scored a goal. Gabriel trying too hard and naive. A point with 10 men is an improvement of sorts, I suppose. Southampton are a goot team ATM.

Not a terrible point in the “down to 10 men as usual” circumstances.
And Southampton are #decent this year.
We are just a very ordinary team. We won’t go down but mid-table at best.
It’s not enjoyable watching is ineffectually blundering around.

As we're unlikely to make Europa again we might actually get to play on a Saturday next season!

We'll fluke the League Cup, maybe.

although a defeat would have hopefully hastened Arteta's departure i really didn't want to lose that, some of the guys showed a bit of spirit at least but ultimately Arteta still needs to go and we need an experienced manager who can really properly turn this around

Best we can hope for is a couple of draws in the next 2 games. Just don’t see where the next win is coming from. This team is so poor.

I agree, first of all we have to stop the defeats and gain some confidence again. I doubt our final league position will get us any European football next season unless we win a cup.

:gp:

The part about the team being so poor :violin:

I looked at the players on the field last night and we have one or two that could change a game (Auba, on form, Saka maybe). However, when you look at our bench it is woeful! WTF has happened? How did it get this bad guys?

The only thing that may save us from the drop this year is the more woeful teams below us, nothing else.

Without Auba’s goals last season god knows where we would have been. He’s struggled this season and lo and behold we sit a few points above the drop zone. If last night wasn’t a turning point for him we’re going to be in real trouble, the team is too disjointed and has no chemistry to get us out of this mess.

We will be ok if he starts scoring consistently again and Partey can be the presence in midfield we need him to be.

Every season goes roughly the same way. The table can be all over the place before Christmas but once it gets to the business end of the season the stronger squads head to the top because they have more and better resources. The usual suspects will be up there at the end, clubs like Soton will have drifted away and we'll likely end up mid-table, which is a fair reflection of the strength of our squad right now.

I'm not concerned about a relegation fight, I don't think we'll be dragged into that. Form has to improve because it can't get worse. We'll string a few wins together at some point, our better players will make the key difference in a few games and we'll drag ourselves clear. But we are a genuine mid-table team now. Can't see us doing better than that. Not unless something pretty amazing happens in the January window.

At least we got a point. Auba is a goal scorer but he isnt a player to drag the rest of the team with him. he needs the others around to prove what a good goal scorer he is. Everton and Chelsea the next two, that will be tough but also we will be underdogs so a good performance could spread to future games.

the odd thing is that our back four is actually alright, i am quite happy with the Holding/Gabriel centre backs, tierney on the left and bellerin on the right. its central midfield that is the huge problem. hopefully partey once fit can fill a void but still think we need another beast along side him. we should just go crazy in Jan and sign Maddison and Grealish play both behind Auba with Saka so 4-2-3-1 ....simples

Lousy draw last night given our results recently, yes we were down to 10 men but in the 1st half it was awful again, then the chump in charge comes out and says this is the beginning of the turnaround, please spare us the nonsense pack up your suitcase and quit!

We're sitting in 15th, dropping point left right and centre and stuggling to score goals, theres unhappy players all over the place and yet this guy still keeps his job, what does he have to do to lose his job.

Thats the point it isn't given our results, we again dropped points, we never looked like we were going to win this either. This guy was the wrong appointment, he clearly doesn't have the talent to manage, seriously who thought it was a good idea to appoint some nobody with no experience, he wasn't even a top player for us, he was a better player for Everton and they were never interested. How can anyone be happy with a draw, we've actually lost ground on the team above us Leeds who won last night, this is Arsenal on of the biggest clubs in the land not Wigan.

I find this whole thing a joke from start to finish to be honest, the fact they employed this guy, the fact he brought Xhaka back in despite his behaviour and made him a regular despite his performances, the way he completely excluded Ozil despite us having zero creativity, the way he was reluctant to play Martinelli and yet has been all too happy to play Nketiah, the way he's treated Saliba and was willing to give Mustafi a new contract (we can't get rid of the guy now so why even consider that), his double standards, the awful football, the lack of goals and ability to create anything and now the fact he's still in charge despite our worst start in what 40 years or something.

What is wrong with this club, why can it never seem to do anything properly.

But anyone would be better than Wenger, right? :p

:run:

After we equalised there was a spell when we looked OK. Had it not been for the sending off...well, we'll never know. But we might have nicked it.
We were never dominant but then...we're not that good.
Still think it's basically a group of good players, but they're not a good team.

Yeah but Arteta was mentored and recommended by Wenger

Yes but not convinced we would have won it, no way of knowing. We're a better team than Arteta has us looking, 15th is awful.

i agree, the team showed a bit of spirit but this shouldn't be used as a fig leaf to cover up our failings and the fact that we all know he'll put Xhaka straight back in the team when he's finished his suspension tells us all we need to konw about Arteta

Agreed. I'm not convinced either but we'd have had more chance than we did with 10 men.
I think there's some good players in this squad, not many superstars maybe but we should certainly be doing a lot better than we are and my patience with Arteta has run out.

The bookies have us at 25/1 to go down. I have never seen that in my 45 years supporting Arsenal.

Bookies set their odds in part because of how people bet.
So sure, maybe people are betting on us to go down.
They’re wasting their money.
It shouldn’t even be a conversation of course but when push comes to shove we’ll pick up enough points.

whats it now?

Generally, across the board, it is now 20/1.

16/1 at Boyle Sports.

You can still get 40/1 at Skybet. Which is one hell out of an outlier.

In terms of volume of money being placed, we are now 2nd at 12.87% of all bets placed.
