the way i look at it if you don't die quite a bit you're playing at too easy a level - games should be hard IMO if they're to be properly enjoyed

There's a balance, you don't want it to be so hard it is going to make you less enthused about any story they're trying to tell.

It's why I will never play the hardest difficulty level the first time I play it.

Obviously for the From Software games they're intentionally hard, which is probably why I've stayed away from them.

yeah true that's why with D Ex i went for the middle of the three levels, which is about right

but i still die quite a bit but that's partly because if you accidentally get into a shootout with the enemies (especially the armoured soldiers) they pretty much take you down every time
